Death can only be interpreted by people who are alive, yet since no one who is alive can simultaneously experience what it's like to be dead, who then does death actually concern? This logic is oddly reassuring. Even so, if my doctor were to call me up right now and tell me that I would die in 12 hours, I would still likely spend all that time in a state of debilitating fear and anxiety. Just thinking about this possibility makes me realize that whether I like it or not, death terrifies me right now, even as a person who is fortunate enough to be in good health.

Who says humanity is going to progress. If you understand history we have no progressed because we refuse our own design and purpose for life given by the creator. The things we struggle with are the same things we struggled with in the beginning of the fallen world. It’s all the same only the names change because we are foolish and thinker are superior to those before us………always to one extreme or the other or worst bouncing back and forth………egos and pride is a bitch and those that don’t have that are consumed in fear and anxiety. See both ends instead of a good ability to slide into the middle and live a good honest life. Society and the world ruler help set this up long before we’re old enough to know and few ever question deeper when there is a maturity that can stand in the fire and ask the appropriate questions which would make wisdom.

I am 13 year's old and I don't know how many years I got every night I think of what would happen if I die? Would I still be remembered would I go to heaven or hell or are they're just fake... What would really happened if I die will I be just there dead nothing I will just be nothing no emotion memory just nothing is the past present and the future is happening right now? What is death is death the end every living thing will die someday is there a way to immortality? Or just death if you die you die you will be forgotten after millions of years people will change language and you will be studied I have so many thoughts about death... That I do not have time to say it all

I walked around in life fearing death every turn I took after surviving the Boston Marathon Bombing. The second bomb was only a few feet away from me and I ended up living with PTSD, GAD and just led my life with fear and panic attacks. I lost my mind, only to have enough and study my pain, get certified in therapy, move from Miami to a cabin in Sweden and heal my mental. I now post on TH-cam about self improvement and hope to help at least one person make it just another day because I know I needed it so much in my life 🙏🏽

This one has potential to be your best video yet, reminds me of something about death I read a long time ago from the book “Tuesday’s with Morrie” that always stuck with me:
“Okay. The story is about a little wave, bobbing along in the ocean, having a grand old time. He's enjoying the wind and the fresh air-until he notices the other waves in front of him, crashing against the shore. "My God, this is terrible," the wave says. "Look what's going to happen to me!"
Then along comes another wave. It sees the first wave, looking grim, and it says to him, "Why do you look so sad?"

Having two close encounters with death when younger (one was a near-fatal traffic accident at 21, the other was a nearly successful suicide attempt ten years later, saved just in time), at age 65 I really don't fear death- just chronic pain, illness and decrepitude, which is a "living death." But I do greatly fear the death of those I love....

After watching videos about death and other topics, I had the exact thought about death pre birth knowing that we experienced death already. We just don't want to give up experiencing life back to death.
well- there could very well be life before birth and life after death. just that you dont have a human brain to record the memories and help you recall them in life

People fear death but the crazy thing is that we go to sleep each night pretty much unconscious throughout the sleeping period not know if ur dead or alive. So why do u fear death? I think a lot of people are scared of how death will happen if is painful/slow ect.

I dont know really, but I think that most people(me) are afraid of the cause of their death rather than the idea of death itself. I am fascinated by death, and I don;t think I am afraid. Its just the cause that scares me, dying of old age riddled in pain, or dying in a car crash, its just the pain that makes me afraid.

Whenever i stay awake at night because of mt fear of death i feel as if my life is flashing before my eyes like im already dying and the life im living is just a playback my brain is doing trying to figure out what is happening and i feel time slipping away and it just makes me more afraid

I've feared death since a young age, about 5 or 6. At night, I would start worrying if I would just pass away in my sleep.
I would become said, since I was aware life was short. That's what scared me. But I have learned to not think about it and just live my life to the fullest

One thing ive learned in my 27 years of life is that anything i ever worried about was never as bad as i thought it would be when it came to be, death is something we have no control over so there really is no point in worrying, live your life and have as much fun as you can while youre here because its short, and i assume youre lucky enough to have people who love you and who you love which is the greatest thing any person can have, take care of yourself

I’m just never happy. On one hand I don’t wanna die. On the other hand I don’t want to see other people around me die. But even if we’re all immortal, eventually everyone would get bored and wish to die. Just can’t win

I don't think everyone would get bored, I think you underestimate the value organisms find in life. Grand Tortoises often live over 200 years and don't commit suicide. Same with Blue Whales. I believe that if all humans were immortal, we would all continue to live our lives for as long as we possibly could.
I have known for a very long time that as time goes on, I will suffer the loss of more and more of the people I know, but one day it struck me for the first real tine that I too will be among them, I too will die. And... that scared the shit out kf me. Inside myself I felt as though I fell into a black dark empty void.

Death is the bitter cure and sweet relief of all mortal ailments.
Back when I was a kid maybe around 12 or 13 I thought I did something that I would go to hell for (im not religious at all now but as a kid I was). I was so terrified I couldn't sleep for months. All I thought about all day was dying. I was so afraid of not knowing what was gonna happen when I died that it consumed every single thought in my brain 24/7. I didn't wanna eat, sleep, or anything. I would pray and pray every night and lay there afraid until I finally fell asleep from fatigue. One day I just decided to stop worrying about it, I also stopped believing in religion completely. Now as a 33 year old I don't fear death at all and it never even crosses my mind. It's something that's going to happen anyways so I feel no need to think about it. When it happens it'll happen so it doesn't matter to me. When I was 16 I had a major car accident where I passed away for almost a minute. I dont remember much but I just remember everything turning bright white, then sound going away, I woke up to a defibrillator on my chest shocking me back to life.
Losing ourselves to death isn't painful at all but losing out loved ones is the thing that makes death fearful.
I think the thing I fear most about death is what comes after. I just can't imagine a stage where I am completely unconscious, and that thought keeps me awake at night. There are times where I couldn't stop crying, simply because I had the idea that I'm going to die one day and I wouldn't be able to experience the wonders of life any longer. The least thing I want to think about is that I will be nothing but a deceased soul, and there will be nothing left but ashes. I have forced myself to believe all those years that I will be a ghost after I die, to relieve the pain. I want to be free and roam around the world, not locked inside my own thoughts forever. I hate thinking that death is the same as sleep; when you fall asleep, you're unconscious. I am forever haunted by the thought that I will forever stay unconscious. Forever.

During a class to renew my CPR certification NDE’s came up as a brief discussion and some classmates referred to the NDE’s as examples of “coming back from the dead”. The point that I raised was these are just people’s experiences when their heart has stopped, but ACTUAL death is brain death, and nobody has stories from that and nobody comes back from brain death. Neither of my instructors or anyone in the class disagreed.
and yet there are brain-dead people whose hearts still beat, and their loved ones consider them alive. I wouldn't say they're alive, but it's hard to fault their loved ones for thinking that way

You forgot to consider that the “dreamlike” scenes people have been experiencing while dead might only have happened in the first few seconds when their mind was still partly conscious. The reason to them not remembering the part of nothingness is because they had no functioning memory or mind during that period so once they are brought back to life all they remember is those split seconds before actually being fully dead.

well the "dreamlike" sequences are very often described as "far more real than real life" by experiencers so calling them dreamlike is inaccurate, they are HYPER REAL.
So by what mechanism would such a "hyper real" experience be created by the brain? The pineal glans releasing dmt-argument that is commonly used is just an unfounded hypothesis as well. For example the psychedelic researcher David Nichols noted the pineal gland would AT LEAST need to rapidly produce 25mg of DMT to create such a psychedelic experience and there is literally ZERO evidence the brain does this as it is dying. The pineal gland weighs less than 0.2 grams and only produces about 30µg of melatonin per day. So then where would it come from? Nobody can give an answer except a hypothesized somewhere somehow something would produce some chemicals that create them through unknown mechanisms.
Imo the filter/receiver theory of the brain is a far more interesting if we talk about near death experiences. The brain being not being a generator of consciousness, but a filter of perception to a fundamental consciousness, like a sort of radio. If you die and the filters are removed then you'd experience "more reality" since the body filters everything from your perception of reality that's not necessary for immediate survival. And that would also mean hyper real experiences upon death, more colors, more awareness etc. like thousands of people report in their NDEs.
Of course if you believe the brain creates consciousness then you gotta look for some drug in the brain that creates these hyper real experiences, but so far there is really no compelling evidence there.

Through Jesus Christ, God offers you a FREE gift - forgiveness. We aren’t saved by our good works, but only by the grace of God through faith in Christ. All you need to do is repent, turn away from your sins and evil ways, from now on put your faith completely in Jesus Christ and be obedient to Him.
Biblical explanation of the Gospel:
1) Hell, judgement. God doesn’t want anybody in hell, but you must understand why
we deserve hell and why those who refuse to live under His authority will go
there. He gave us the law (Ten Commandments) not to make us righteous, but
rather to show us our sin (Romans 3:20). God gave us free will and since Adam
sinned in the garden, sin is the nature of our flesh and we ALL have sinned. (Romans 3:23)
The law demands death to those who sin (Romans 6:23). Since we have all sinned, we all deserve hell.
Revelation 21:8 says that all liars will go to hell. Yes, even if you have lied once in your life, you are sentenced to hell - that's how
high God's standards are of moral perfection because God is holy and righteous, there is not one sin in Him.
For someone to be justified before holy God they have to be sinless, that's why everyone need Jesus Christ
- for He lived a sinless life, died on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day.
2) Sin, good deeds. None of us are good in God’s eyes, because for God good means moral perfection. We all
have broken God’s commandments, we all have sinned in our lives so none of us
are good. ‘’For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is
guilty of breaking all of it.’’ (James 2:10). Our carnal mind is hostile to God; it does not submit
to God's moral law and it never will (Romans 8:7). We hate the thought of God for the same reason a criminal
hates a policeman - we know we have sinned against God and are guilty of it and we don't want to be damned.
No good works will ever save you. You can't earn salvation by good works, because God will judge us for our sin.
3) Jesus Christ paid the fine. Good News is that Jesus Christ lived a perfect, holy, sinless life and He died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
He was buried and He was raised from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever
believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.’’ (John 3:16)
''For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -
not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Jesus said ‘’it is finished’’ (John 19:30) just before He died on the cross, which means He paid the fine for our sins
(past, present, future) to be forgiven only IF we repent and trust in Him.
4) How to be saved? This is how you can get saved from sin and hell - repent and trust in Jesus Christ. Get to know Him by reading God's Word and pray for the Holy Spirit to seal you. So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” (Luke 11:13)
5) Repentance ''What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!'' (Romans 6:15)
''Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out'' (Acts 3:19)
Repentance is a turning away from sin and all evil works, and it always results in changed behavior (Luke 3:8).
Biblically, a person who repents does not continue willfully in sin.
While sorrow from sin is not equivalent to repentance, it is certainly an element of scriptural repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10).
Do not play a hypocrite. ''God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.
If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.'' (1 John 1:5-6)
6) Born-again with a new heart. (John 3:3) Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."
If you have repented and have genuine faith in Jesus Christ then you will receive the gift of Holy Spirit and be born-again spiritually.
When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance
until the redemption of those who are God’s possession - to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14)
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. (John 3:36)
7) New creation in Christ. ''You will know them by their fruits'' (Matthew 7)
If you have been truly born-again with the Holy Spirit and He has regenerated your heart, you will desire righteousnes -
to do what is good and righteous in God's eyes, to seek God everyday in His Word and prayer, to strengthen your relationship with God.
You will no longer desire to willfully continue living in sin but will want to obey God out of your love for Him because of His amazing grace
revealed to us through the death and resurrection of His Son.
''Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.'' (2 Corinthians 5:17)
''For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.'' (Eph 2:10)
You will have a testimony - of what your life had been before and how has it changed now when you have surrendered it to Lord Jesus Christ.
8) Baptisement. As a declaration and affirmation of your faith in Jesus Christ, get baptised in water because He commanded us to do so.
In John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.''
''Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit'' (Matthew 28:19)
''Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.'' (Acts 2:41)
''And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you also - not the removal of dirt from the body,
but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God - through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,'' (1 Peter 3:21)
''We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that,
just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.'' (Romans 6:4)
''Having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God,
who raised him from the dead.'' (Colossians 2:12)
Please get right with God and get to know Jesus Christ personally today before it’s too late, because there’s not much time left!
"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.’’ (Mark 13:32)

I find it extreamly fascinating how similer a high dose of a psychidelic feels to how people describe what a near death experience is. Makes you really think what chemicals are released in those moments to make you feel that without the use of a psychidelic.
Imo if we talk about psychedelics the filter theory of the brain is a far more interesting, psychedelics remove filters from our perception because they block the filters that let us experience "full reality". Similarly people who have NDEs would have been removed from the filters from their brains and therefore experience reality as "more real" which many people who have NDEs do. It may not be chemicals creating anything at all.
I do not fear death at all, but I may have a slight fear of how I’m going to die. Everything life is extremely unpredictable - but it’s also out of our control. So I live everyday with gratitude because you never know when your expiration date will arrive. It’s inevitable. Accepting death motivates me a lot in life, and it also helps me not stress about anything & always choose happiness ❤❤❤
I think my biggest concern is not actually knowing what comes after death also. We have just been told stories that develops our belief systems…. But how do we actually know?

12:30 I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2019 aged 25. I’m now 3 years in remission but since facing my own mortality as an atheist, the fear of death and relapse is something I struggle with hourly. The one thing that has helped me over the past few months is realising that regardless of my situation, everyone is in the same boat. Everyone will die.
On days where I find myself lost in thought with constant checking behaviours I look at my wife and daughter and remind myself that they too are on a one way journey to the graveyard. As strange as it sounds, I get great comfort from that.

I disagree fully. For me personally, it is not the cause of death that terrifies me. It is the idea of ceasing to exist, of disappearing into an endless void, as my body decays away beneath the ground and all I am is forgotten.
@@Eirikr69 Ceasing to exist, disappearing into an endless void - are both your own choices of how to color death in for yourself. We don't know what existing is. Are we just physical, or with something additional, soul-like? What is existing? What if we still exist somehow after we physically die?

@@MartyrsPath I agree with all the points and thoughts you mention, my comment was merely an attempt to formulate the fear that, despite perhaps being irrational when faced with philosophy and thought, is still quite real. The fact that we do not know does not offer me comfort. If you wish to know what does, it is that disappearing into the void is literally nothing at all. There is a comfort in becoming nothing, no worries, no fear or pain.
And yet, we are alive. And there is a deep wish within man to remain so, to live and continue to experience.

When I was little I used to have sleepless nights, crying because I was scared of the idea of death. I found it very frightening to think, that at some point, everything will just stop existing for me. I won't be able to perceive anymore.
I don't know when exactly, but at some point this fear of death went away. I came to realize, that whatever will happen, only death will give me answers. If there is something like a 'soul' or an 'afterlife' or whatever, then I will be able to tell once I have died. If there isn't, then I will be able to tell once I've died. But whatever of those is the case, the only thing I know for sure is that I should still live life to its fullest, since you can never know if this is your only one. However I don't think, that death is the end. Because however you see it, time is infinite, and if consciousness is only limited to the physical body, then after an infinite amount of time in an infinitely big universe, this exact physical body will assemble again and the consciousness will continue existing. And if consciousness is something that isn't just physical, then it will keep existing anyway, therefore being 'immortal'.
i wanna get over this fear too. ive been thinking abt it for weeks. the idea of eternal nothingness after death is terrifying to me.
But even if your body somehow recontructs itself some time into the future (which is a big if) would it still be you? You did die a long time ago and that new body has no memory of your existence. It's kinda like asking if you were able to store you counciousness into a computer after you die, would that computer be you or just a collection of your memories and thoughts that keeps going while you cease to exist forever.
@@damaplehound Yeah... that's the thing, consciousness is, to this day, still not understood at all, therefore there is no real definition of what makes you 'you'.
We know what causes memories, of course, but all they are, is signals, that can probably be manipulated in the near future, therefore I wouldn't say Memory makes up 'you' at all, and it's rather only the consciousness, but then again, it's not understood how this works, so all there is is open questions.

Sadly enough, after seeing how the world works and the fear of what the future may bring, the only thing that I would never fear is my own death, some times I even wish, that the moment should come as fast as possible.
You gotta appreciate it while you’re here man, can’t take even a minute of this life for granted bc we’ll all be gone in a second. I thought many times that my death would be something freeing, health in my case, would mean to endure life even longer. I see life like Arthur Schopenhauer, you can just run from your needs and curses, but life will torture us until we are meeting our end. For someone living in fear of an ever changing world to even something worse than before, health and family means nothing.
Life has always been harsh for many people, that's part of existence. Our coping mechanism is what largely determines our feelings in the face of adversity. When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.

Ive struggled with the fear of death after loss of my family. Im the only one left. But i saw a video about being dead before. Ive been dead perhaps millions of years before, and it was no convenience at all. I will return to the same state i had before birth. I think, it is the other way around. Scared of the pain of dying, not the pain of death. There is no pain when someone is already dead.
Physical Pain when killed , suffered by a disease, mentally and many more. I just accept the painless death like sleeping and never waking up.
It’s not necessarily death that I fear, it’s what I’m missing out on when I die. Not knowing when that day is sucks but it’s what I’d be missing. I could die as soon as this video ends. With that thought, I’d miss my daughters’ children being born. Walking them down the aisle. Grand kids. I thoroughly enjoy and love life. Being with my family. So, the thought of not being with them, is the fear that I have about death.
For those who fear death don't. I had a heart attack three years ago and I was dead for a few minutes. I saw the other side and I couldn't have cared less about this world anymore. You may have heard stories of people who had near death experiences and were told to come back and they didn't want to. Trust me you won't want to. When they revived me and I was able to speak I asked them why didn't they just let me stay dead? your girlfriend, your Cadillac Escalade, your mortgage payment, your sports team, none of that BS will mean anything to you once you get to the other side. If you're afraid to die because you might go to hell, I don't really think that is a serious concern unless you are Jeffrey Dahmer or Hitler. Just live a decent life and when death comes just relax and embrace it because you can't escape it😮

I don’t fear my own death as much as I fear the deaths of my loved ones. Its heart wrenching to see my parents/aunts/uncles get older. I’m very grateful that they still have that opportunity of aging because that means they are still here but that clock will be always be ticking getting closer and closer to the end for them. It’s impossible to imagine my life without them but I know when the time comes I’ll get through because there’s is no other choice. You just have to keep going. I have to keep going and hopefully live to a very old age because I want to keep the memories I made with them alive for as long as possible.

I've had intense Thanataphobia and Death Anxiety (along with a barrage of other aversions and phobias, most notably perhaps being Pedophobia) from a very young age. We only assume it's because I grew up in a household in which my emotions were neglected and abused--- I was even parentified within my time living in that household.
I went to my first funeral at the age of 8, when my grandfather, my father's father, had passed away. I was told to say goodbye but didn't know how, and I saw the body in the casket with my own eyes of a man I hardly knew. A man I would never know save for the title 'deceased'.
I fear the end of a life save the **decades** I still have to live and the experiences I still get to have. Hell, I haven't graduated high school, let alone gotten married or traveled the world or pursued a career that I am passionate about. I haven't started a family. I don't have a high school diploma yet.
The most abhorrent thing about being recognized as "gifted" for a child, adolescent, whatever you want to call me; is the unfortunate critical thinking skills I possess. They provide me with both clarity and terrible paradoxes in my mind-- I think clearly but all the same cannot shake those worries that other children have never even considered giving a second thought.
Although death is still a great concern for me, I know it shouldn't concern me. But it still does. I have plenty of worries that should not worry me, but do nonetheless.
The thought of simply ceasing to exist one day terrifies me for many reasons, namely being that I have never ceased to exist. Is it like being asleep forever? Will everything stop working and I will be infinitely still, nothing? But I have never been nothing; certainly, If I have, I do not remember.
Will anybody miss me? Will I have done enough? Will I be remembered? Did I work hard enough? What happens after? Will it be peaceful? What will be my last words; my last thought? Will I be content enough? Had I have been a good person?
Am I truly eternal and ran by something else, or are we really just a ton of working parts who exist just so?
Religion hardly has given me any clarity and my anxiety has been spiking by the days. One night last week I jolted after trying to sleep after realizing just so severe death is-- it lasts forever after it happens. And the thought was, "It's going to happen to me too."
I cry a lot. A lot more than I should. Due to my childhood experience (at least speculated, nobody in my family has had them) I have BPD and OCD. They are, what I would call, a sometimes volatile duo. I stay up too much, and this fear has only given me more reason to do so.

No amount of speculation will ever make it okay. It's a fear I suppress daily and gets louder when I am alone.

ive had a complex relation with this fear, sometimes it pushed me to do awesome things, for now it just keeps me awake at night and tired during the day. Now it became a thought that leads me to unrest and anxiety, there are times in which i feel tired of feeling this way. I think this is something that finds us when we are most alone, the most loneliest experience you will ever have. But then again im so fuckin tired of feelin fear ive chosen to not feel it, just out of exhaustion. Ive talked to friends of mine that are cancer survivors and they tell me theyve experienced kindof the same fears and had the same questions, I think most people do is to try to deny it and live in a version of the reality that seems to fit their emotional needs. As of now, I recommend you, if this fear is plaguing your life, just face it, go after it, embrace it, evolve over it, nourish yourself, do everything to achieve your dreams, dont be an asshole to others, take away every bit of satisfaction this life can deliver you.

The fear of death comes from our own consciousness. We don’t experience anything before we are created because we simply couldn’t experience it. That is unless you believe in God etc. The fear if losing consciousness and everything can be overwhelming and cause a lot of fear. Great video!!

Thank you for talking about such a topic. Many are afraid to confront the thought of death. NDE's are interesting. The ones I have most interesting are the ones where the person was at hospital & had no heart beat but when brought back could recall what the doctors & nurses were saying. Knowing they were clinically dead but recalled details was very interesting to me. I used to be religious. I'm now more spiritual & open minded than blindly following traditional beliefs. One thing; we'll all find out when we die what's next! XX

I do not fear death in itself, what I fear is the way I will die…peacefully or not I wouldn’t regret the way I lived even if I had an option to change things in my life I wouldn’t change anything. Either way I believe we should not think of death as a bad thing I also believe we should also focus on our current life, the way we live and experience it at its fullest.

I saw my dad who passed as a shadow in a doorway, someone was in front of him they were shadows which ive come to terms with is antimatter on that level of quantum scale. Dont be afraid of death, its pure darkness for the first while, ive OD'd 4 times where ive been revived by friends or family around. I distinctly remember just blackness nothing and i lost track of time where a few seconds back to back i was told it was 10 mins then 30 the second time.
If it makes anyone sleep better at night there is a theory that if the universe is infinite givin enough time the atoms and molecules that make you who you are could come back together in the same exact way to create you again in the however long future. The best thing about it is no matter how long it took from your perspective it would be like going to bed at night and waking up a million years later. Only to you it be a solid night sleep

What scares me is the possibility of hell. I don't know why, I don't know where I got the fear from, because I didn't grow up in a very religious household, and I'm an agnostic, but the possibility of being tortured for all eternity absolutly terrifies me. It's the only thing about death that scares me. If it weren't for that fear I'd have the same opinion as Mark Twain on this.
I listen to thousands of near death experience stories from people. And not a single person has mentioned a place that is described as hell. Only a place of pure light and love and peace. You have nothing to worry about. Your only job on earth is just to do your best and don’t hurt people. ❤😊

THere is a difference between death and dying. I fear my death and dying right now because people rely on me to be alive and get things done. I believe once I am older and people do not rely on me as much, I will not fear death, but fear the process of dying. There are many terrible ways in which to die

1. Having imense pain before finally dying
2. Being stuck in nothingness forever. (ik you wont notice the "nothing" but its still extremly terrifying to me)
I agree; nothingness is a terrifying thought to me too. It's incredibly difficult to explain why I fear it but I think that's because it's hard to explain what nothing is, our brains simply can't handle nothing.
I think that one of the reasons I fear it is because I won't know it's happening. At my point in life, I'd rather go to "Hell" than face nothing, purely because with "hell", you'd get used to it eventually, while with nothing, there's well, nothing you can do with it.

Going back to your hand in fire point, even if the nerves never got destroyed, if you keep your hand in fire long enough without any damage to your hand, after a point it'd just become another sensation you ignore; like the clothes on your body or the hair on your head.

We fear death because we have tasted life, and we are aware of death. We are unaware of our birth and the time before it, so we have no reason to fear that. But time only exists in life. So, if you fear the length of death, or finality (for those who feel this lifetime is all there is), then, you really have nothing to fear, as it will appear as an instant, or nothing at all. Personally, I have experienced some things in life that assures me that my spirit will live on after death, so you would think that would take away the fear of death. In all actuality it can heighten that fear in some. Where will I go? Who will I be with? In what form will I be? How long will that be? Will those I love now to be forever lost to me? So many questions in which there are no answers that do not rely on faith. I have resigned myself to just not dwell on that which I will never know in this life. Why burden myself with something I cannot control? So, I accept it just as I would accept my future here. I don't know what my future holds, but I keep on moving toward it with no fear. This is the way we should look at death. Somehow, I feel that death and birth are one in the same.

The reason I'm not afraid of death is because I want to see what after life is. I think of death as a book, you dont know whats on the next page or what happens on the next sentence, you'll just have to see, being afraid to death is nonsense to me because I don't think of it as "Is this the end?" but as " What happens next". When you read a story you dont know what's gonna happen to your favorite character, but that's what makes it interesting isn't it? To me, death is just...

I do believe in an after life. It’s not like heaven. It’s almost like another dimension and I think your placed there depending on the type of person you are. Not good or bad but your personality and who you are. Your then surrounded by others who have the same personality. You can come back into the mortal realm but only as an animal, and your animal depends on the type of personality you have.
Knowing you have a legacy, have family and friends and posterity to carry on in your name, people who will remember and honor you, brings a lot of comfort to some people.
But likewise, I have found, there is a certain comfort in knowing you will be forgotten, like pretty much everyone before you has, and after you will. There is no burden to carry, in the long run.
Death isnt sad. A life unlived is. Loose ends, missed opportunities, are whats sad.
A fear of death, I think, is really a fear of failure, and the permanence of that failure status, for at that point there is no more growth, change, hope to right your ship and make success.
I find comfort in the exact same thing. Knowing that we are just a blip in existence, and each and every single one of us will cease to exist and be forgotten. Just like the billions of other people that have walked this planet before. This thought has freed me from a lot from my life, it gives me a greater appreciation for being alive, but also acceptance for death.
