With drag racing, the solid axle is stronger and more consistent then a independent rear suspension. As far as putting the IRS in a GT, it could be for daily driving and canyon driving purposes
why solid axle swap the cobra? build it as a track car. you have so many drag cars. you have your silver new edge (first car) that you could build as a drag car if you want.

A lot of people who own terminators put solid axles in them. IRS is not good for drag racing

Apparently late 90s Taurus rear calipers fit on these cars and are a bigger piston for a cheap factory upgrade.

That’s just the way it sounds through the camera. It was pretty quiet in person. It’s also a convertible so plenty of road noise too
