    Hello, in regards to Matt, if he is a toy due to height but recognized as a mini, how does that work with showing in conformation and breeding? I'm new to the breed and trying to learn. Thank you for the informative video on measuring and breed name change 🙂

    Our 15 month old Gus is a toy and 14 lbs. Two of the best things I Iearned from you when we first got him is the "stand" and being able to turn him over and handle him for nail clips, etc. My husband is still amazed that I can put Gus anywhere and tell him to "stand" and he will....until I get him down.

      I spent a ton of time training her for show when she was a puppy and the bond really shows.

    Uh oh. Our 7-month male “mini” Aussie is 16.5” tall following the prescribed method. Methinks 18” is in the bag. 😂

      It is amazing how many breeders never measure their breeding stock but just "guess" or tell people what they want to hear. Not saying that is the case here as it is possible to get standards out of mini breedings and even toy breedings! Either way, I am sure you love your dog no matter what size.

      @@dreamgaits We met the Mom (biggish) and Dad (smallish) prior to breeding and signed on the dotted line so we always knew our guy may be on the big side. I was surprised by the range of sizes in the same litter. One healthy little guy was destined to be a toy while some others like ours may end up being standards. If we wanted a guaranteed small dog we would have gotten a Yorkie!

    My Aussie's ASDR papers say he is a toy, but he measures between 14.5 and 15" tall. lol

      Parents were probably toys. Sometimes they get bigger than their parents.

    My standard aussie pup is 6 months in a few days and he's 47lbs. Do you think he'll get any bigger?

    • @dreamgaits
      @dreamgaits  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! At only six months he has a ways to go. Let me guess 65 pounds at one year.

    Can you ever show an Australian Shepherd that’s crossed with a border collie 2:41

      In sports such as agility, flyball, obedience, etc yes, in conformation, no.

    My Cleo is a standard Aussie I’m more wondering about weight how to decide if she is overweight. She weights 60 lb I feed her twice a day 3/4 cup kibble with 1/4 of fresh protein. Love to know What your thoughts are!

      Hi Shannan, Since I don't know your dogs height, length, age, activity level and bone structure I can't speak to this. Generally ribs should be easily felt, the dog should have a "waist" etc. Your best bet is to ask your vet about your dog's weight and if it is appropriate for her frame, age size.

    How can I stop my aussie from eating other dogs poop. She gets a good dog food and I have given her vitamins like the vet said and she still does it. She weights 65 lbs and she is 19 months old.

      You might try a good probiotic like fortiflora. Sometimes they are looking for digestive enzymes when they do that.
