both had good steez.. for sure.. one got that nice funk/boogie flava.. and the other had clean isolations.. but damn.. its just dancing.. no reason to get mad.. haha.. anyways.. that whole biting thing.. hell.. originality is essential.. but one way or another someone is gonna do somethin remotely close to lookin like whatever it is u did.. so relax.. dance to inspire.. not to impress..
Michael Jackson WAS taught by the Boogaloos. Why is that so hard for people to believe? He wasn't the FIRST dude to do the moonwalk....he just does it real good. Sam did it before him, and people did it before Sam. MJ is good at poppin', but he didn't just learn it from "kids In the Ghetto" The Boogs taught him, AND Wade Robinson. Hyun too
Only the Intro was Coreo , which is Cool yo is like fighters entrance they wen rounds on the one track it wasn't Coreo after that , ya he knows the track that's all ...
This is the thing. He brought mixed music [preset] music to the battle, you could hear the song change like 5 or 6 different times. Whether it was using the song itself, or just using the intro. That's how you could tell that he wasn't freestyling. Legend danced to whatever the DJ put on, and Mike brought his own preset music. Even did a trick with a hat that he knew he was going to do even after Legend took his hat back. That's what I saw.
And if you think that the hand puppet was biting, i've never seen salah pull a vibration move to the hand puppet on beat. Even Mr. Wiggles made the "wiggle walk" buy taking pieces of other moves and reworking them.
The guys knows them by heart so he doesnt have to have a routine, He freestyles to it.Ive seen other vids of him doin totally different shit to the same song, Fact is he knows the songs cuz hes danced to them so much. And lets not talk about people bitting because mad shit on the west coast guys side Ive seen in random battles, Mike wat beat him, west coast couldnt accept the fact that he knew the songs they played for him.It wasnt his fault he listened to the songs since he started poppin,
Um...they do dance...and i kno it was in your opinion...but that was harsh...so harsh in fact...i felt it...theres more to street dance than just boogaloo..."tricks" or other styles of dance are integral to a preformance...i myslef have heard that excact same mix when i was livin in new york..an jus because you know the song doesnt mean ur not freestylin..it just means ur prepared...and also...just bcuz his moves flow into each other doesnt mean there not freestyled either...
can anybody tell me what the name of the song is which begins on 0:51 and ends at 0:57 seconds .... i think i heard it in the past and its rockzz (pls)
MTDD323232 Just so you know. when you say learn your history. Michael Jackson Started learnin from the Lockers Thanks to slim the Robot and His Style Because the Lockers were so big at the time they were very accessable. Then he started learin from the EB's and Poppin taco. Mike is a great Dancer But he is a Mimic he created nuthin he does.
knowing a song and taking advantage of that in a battle is called good battle tactic. they do this in breakdancing all the time. the more songs you have memorized the better prepared you are for a battle. both dancers are excellent, but legend just made himself look bad by whining in this battle. props mike.
Mike is still one of the best! He uses a lot of different techniques effectively with the music; slow motion, that vibrating thing he always does, dime stopping,n his hits. I'm not sure if he bites off salah or salah bites off him, but some of the moves they do, have been done by ppl even before salah and mike. Also some things that ppl make can be made by some other person, and they both wouldn't be aware.
Haha! That nigga brought his own music! Tha only thing dope was tha music mix to Siberian Nights! LMBAO. After they went to a track he aint rehearsed on Legend sucked him up.
I mean salah puts on a show without choreography and alot of other poppers do just as well. You see you have to preserve the spirit and the essentially the rawness of a battle, perverting it is going against the essence of a battle.
ok even if mike watson came wit some preset music his shit was better than his his style was better and his movement went hard ....so yall niggaz need to stop hatin
just so you guys know, salah didn't create the style of animation (Strobing, slow-mo, body puppetry, etc.) and doesn't claim any move from it. So saying Mike is biting Salah is just a dumb statement.
Mike actually did bite that set, move for move from a guy in Legend's crew that used to dance for soul train, it's in the Bboy summit video for either 2001 or 2002. Mike didn't try to change even a little
People that are confused. Mike Watson is the dude in the yellow, & Legend is the guy in Denim. In my opinion Mike had the more flashier style and was hittin' harder moves but Legend won it because he rocked it consistently the whole time. Mad ups to both though.
I agree, but I have learned that everyone bites but the art is when you make it your own. I haven't seen the set that popzilla did, but if it was the same routine then that is wack, especially in a public battle like that
there is a difference between choreography and just knowin a song... unless these are special mixes i dont see the problem to certain moves to certain parts in songs... mikes style is more specific moves as opposed to legend who can keep it goin for a long time as for claiming specific moves, thats retarded... "you can't pop your chest like that cuz i saw poppin' pete do that"...
You all are fuckin trippin no offense to mike watson hes dope.but he bit popzillas tut set,had preset music cause as soon as his song was over he had nothing....Legend ripped that dude. -Mr.RaNdm RoK
then again, if you listen to the names of the songs that Mike was dancing to, and some of the lyrics, then maybe that's why he was doing choreography. "Be Careful, he knows what his moves are BEFORE he makes them!"
I agree mike watson has good muscicality but notice how when the song skipped at the beginning after legend went out he stopeed his routine then started over the exatct same way i watched this video several times b4 i made that comment and also notice how he completly blew the set during the penut butter song...but when legend got and electo song he still rocked it hard that s why i say legend won and lets not 4 get that he bit the mouth tutting routine
but...(not to be redundant)when you go into a battle, u never, ever, go in with out thinkin "wats my first move", or "how/when am i gonna do wat and how"...i feel that every battle has prempted moves...its jus the order that there in and will they come to mind at the time that makes it a freestyle
So many moves have been taken from other dancers, its just the way it works. These two dancers are both from completely diff. styles. Legend = Boogaloo. Mike = Animation, stop motion techniques. It all comes down to what one prefers. I still reckon Legend kicks absolute A! That dude rips alwayz. But Mike is an amazing animator. I just prefer Boogaloo. Boogaloo is more about the dancing, animating is more about entertainment.
a better popper, wouldn't have to choreograph stuff thats the point that was made in the video buy that guy that interrupted. If your that good you should be able to freestyle and still look like near choreographed. Mike had so much shit lined up together it just couldnt' be a freestyle. A battle is not always about putting ON a show, its about whos the better dancer. if it was a crowd battle then i guess do some tricky shit but normally real popping judges don't go for that
DAMN... Legend got heated when that dude took his homeboys move... I saw some of this on Legend's tape... I didn't know all this happened though... damn... that's deep... GO LEGEND!!
Aren't their plenty of funk styles? I noticed various styles featuring (even if only for a second) in some of these sets executed by Legend. There's Sacin, toyman, tuttin, floatin and the concept of fresno (I think) amongst plenty others i'm sure. I thought all of these were elements of Boogaloo? I may be wrong. Do you think Boogaloo simply refers to the rolls? If so, this set by Legend would not be considered boogaloo.
Mike again i think hes dope and also it really depends on what you like in poppin styles but my only thing is if you cant dance to what they put on and rock that beat hard n funky then it takes alot away in a battle the whole bitin thing wasnt really my problem I think he did nothing but tricks he stoped dancin then start a trick Legend kept dancin the entire battle to both styles of music and rocked each style of music but maybe its just caus im west coast i dont know -Mr.RaNdm RoK(SMK,WTB)
Wtf fighting about moves, thats so dumb. If you made it up then just, shred it right back at them with more style and flair. Don't stop the battle to fucking whine about it. Wow serious loss of respect for legend. He is sick dancer, but he is acting like a highschool girl.
(continuation)...and im sure sallah does moves hes done b4...that dosent make it choreographed...it makes him prepared....and how do you kno this is choreographed....he could have very well just knew the song and ran with it....
It's called freestyle, because you shouldn't know what you're going to do next. Yes it's good to have a wide range of songs under your belt, that is a big advantage that Legend has, but choreography is NEVER acceptable in a FREESTYLE battle.. Freestyle means doing it on the spot, not knowing what you're gonna do before the battle even starts.
@omfgjflo yeah but i see the hat routine no different than a finger or tutting section.. nobody has just random tuts, who hasnt had at least 4 different routines of them. ppl battle on the UNKNOWN with shit they know. I think Mike is ok, although nothing compared to lol legend. which is why he didnt really make it anywhere in the battle scene.
I'm really disappointed at the way those two handled themselves at the end of this video. This a perfect example of what poppers, lockers, bboys, ect. should be against confrontations and beefs. Those two should be ashamed of themselves at the way they acted at the end of this video.
Legend is not the one who was biting... he's the one who called out mike for biting... I'm sorry, but if you do a move that you know damn well that one of your opponent's crew members did, then that's cheating... I'd be heated too if I were Legend. GO LEGEND!!! RAW TALENT PEOPLE....
Everyone "borrows" moves from other people; in this way, it's sort of unfair to single out someone for "biting". Popping to choreography, however, is unacceptable... Mike Watson's good at animating, but Legend is way funkier and has more style in my opinion.
Um.. Legend does not do Boogaloo... Legend does the funk style. You were right about Mike, however. There is a signature thing that people do that indicates that it's boogaloo. But for sure, Legend does not do boogaloo. That I know.
wtv watson and salah both havent developed as dancers imo they both are has-been's and dont even pop anyway so who cares honestly they both use tricks as thier main source to win the battle so wtv.
I was there for that battle and Skeet was 100% correct one person can't have choreographed music and the other doesn't.that's not an even battle. .now,if they both had it,then fine but it wasn't that way..the DJ should've just put on the cut and let both poppers show what they got..and why did the MC say west coast vs east when Mike Watson is from Atl? Lol.
i've battled against mike watson b4 in gville, florida. he's dope, but he really dont hit beats like legend does... legend is a boogie style funk popper... where mike is more trix goin to the sounds and things of the music not so much riding the beat. props to both... but i think legend took it
Nah, I don't think people have been analyzin this vid closely enough. BOTH R great Dancers! As for Mike(and this I have to agree @flutterbunny) is WELL PREPARED/familiar with his music and his style of dance! (most likely knew the song) BUT if Legend didn't prep 4 this battle how could he have given some his moves the smooth after effects according to the music? Legend is a fantastic dancer but compared to Mike, sloppy, Mike is sharper in his executions and knows equally how to groove!
Still my favorite video on youtube
both had good steez.. for sure.. one got that nice funk/boogie flava.. and the other had clean isolations.. but damn.. its just dancing.. no reason to get mad.. haha.. anyways.. that whole biting thing.. hell.. originality is essential.. but one way or another someone is gonna do somethin remotely close to lookin like whatever it is u did.. so relax.. dance to inspire.. not to impress..
None of that really looked like choreography, just musicality. If you know the song, work it. Classic saying: "STFU and dance!"
Michael Jackson WAS taught by the Boogaloos. Why is that so hard for people to believe? He wasn't the FIRST dude to do the moonwalk....he just does it real good. if its the funk song its lenny white-peanutbutter im not sure of the electro one

the last song was hot can anyone tell me the title and the artist of the song?
mike watson is a monster
The song where Mike starts is Twilight 22 - Siberian Nights & Electric Kingdom (Ultimix)
My mistake that was lakeside fantastic voyage
And if you think that the hand puppet was biting, i've never seen salah pull a vibration move to the hand puppet on beat. Even Mr. Wiggles made the "wiggle walk" buy taking pieces of other moves and reworking them.

he meant the music. you are suppose to battle to music you dont know.
Man I used to watch this battle everyday
can anybody tell me what the name of the song is which begins on 0:51 and ends at 0:57 seconds .... i think i heard it in the past and its rockzz (pls)
The first song Mike Watson pops to is "Electric Kingdom."
MTDD323232 Just so you know. when you say learn your history. Then he started learin from the EB's and Poppin taco. Mike is a great Dancer But he is a Mimic he created nuthin he does.
I think tricks are on par with hittin the beat nice to a specific song, because it shows depth not just physical ability
they shoulda thrown down at the end and break dance fought.... i think the lady that walked out in the end legends mom bout to whoops some ass....LOL
knowing a song and taking advantage of that in a battle is called good battle tactic. they do this in breakdancing all the time. the more songs you have memorized the better prepared you are for a battle. both dancers are excellent, but legend just made himself look bad by whining in this battle. props mike.

mike watson shouldnt be reppin the east side he makes us look bad by biting.
mike watson is a gump
Um... no one in this vid is named Salah... The one in yellow is Mike, the one in red is Legend. So mike got smoked by Legend... GO LEGEND!!
I mean salah puts on a show without choreography and alot of other poppers do just as well. You see you have to preserve the spirit and the essentially the rawness of a battle, perverting it is going against the essence of a battle.

He took the tut move from bionic at the end thats why they got into a fight.
I got a question, were the songs chosen at the beginning
Im more of a G-Style kinda guy, not really into boogaloo. But legends footwork is insane.............
yeah I think he was hype like that cause im guessin he was just gettin into poppin then
Wtf fighting about moves, thats so dumb. If you made it up then just, shred it right back at them with more style and flair. Don't stop the battle to fucking whine about it. Wow serious loss of respect for legend. He is sick dancer, but he is acting like a highschool girl.

wow
wrong. legend destroyed mike...go get your eyes checked.
Funny how the last song is called “who you stealin from” well the answer is bionic man from MGF lol
It was JR Boogaloo. Legend and JR were in Motion Sickness at this time and JR would do tut patterns like that all the time.
True, but the arm the hoop and swing bionic did that move, he did it s Tommyboy and devee on film
Um.. Legend does not do Boogaloo... Legend does the funk style. You were right about Mike, however. There is a signature thing that people do that indicates that it's boogaloo. But for sure, Legend does not do boogaloo. That I know.

damn man dancing is suppose to be what you do to express yourself, and to have fun... so serious all of a sudden
