Holy shit, I'm watching this in 2023 after reading Chapter one on sonichurricane and it's so funny. He's just walking into poke range, knows this Ken will mash, and fucking demolishing him. I can't unsee it.
@@Gashdal yes I was dude. In my prime I was the best Guile ever. 2nd to one guy. Tomo! Then why u never played me you just ran to the exit all Nervous about it.
Usually when someone steps into c. mk range they throw out a poke. So Ken tried to react to that pre-emptively by throwing out an SRK. He didn't realize that it wasn't working until the last round, and by then it was already too late.
@hazeddon It's more than that. He kinda gets a feel for how Ken is going to react. Since the guy is hadoken happy, he waits for him to stop and jump to throw or something like that. Or he punishes teh hadoken when he's in sweeping range.
@Goten1986 Yes, thats exactly whats happening, specificaly its Guile's c.MK he's trying to hit, since most Guile players use that like a boxers jab, to range find and keep opponents at bay. But Mike isn't 'most Guile players'..
World Warrior Guile is arguably 'Broken'. HF Guile, which Watson's using here, is not considered broken by anybody but scrubs really. I play HF all the time (Ken, Ryu and Bison mostly) and I think it takes lots of skill to play and win with Guile. I hate Guiles but it takes skill and HF guile isn't broken.
@NicX1 I agree that the saying makes no sense, but there are many sayings in the English language that make just as little sense when one looks at them critically. However, they are so integral in the language, that at this point, to try and change them would be impossible.
😆...Watson was baiting the srk to counter with standing fierce. In order to win that match that guy would need much more than a different uppercut guess. He would need 3 more years of training to even make it a competitive game.
I'm fairly surprised. A careless joke that normally wouldn't get me a smirk from some people, and it got this. And I've enjoyed it. Also, lol. While I really didn't believe what I said back there, you people are so reactionary you applauded(+4) a guy who said "retardeds.. " That's a little sick.
Melee certainly isn't a traditional fighter, but I would still call it a fighting game before anything else. That's how it functions at higher levels of play anyway.
@3DarkTemplar apparently its that serious to you, secondly i dont care if it was an opinion, and thirdly....dont refer to yourself in the third-person, it makes you look like a tool
You obviously have no idea how hard it is to be good at melee. Learn the game and depth to it before you judge it. This is apparently no knock on street fighter.
He's good but as guile in my prime i was even better. Over 3 thousands of wins. I did every guile move ever but i don't need the power of Street fightet 4. Still i rather plat Street fighter 2s and show everyone i evwr knew and rookies and Legenda like mike. Why i am the best guile of the midwest or the world.

Fancy seeing you here, Sledge ^-^
@@bogartwilley I’m all over the classics.
This is a beast of a video! Watson is just amazing!
i like when people say "i could care less" when they obviously mean "couldn't"
such intelligence
The footsies displayed are so immense fucking hell
he makes perfect play look easy tbh
Funny when I walk into my opponents poke range and walk out i get to guess between 3 wildly unpredictable options
at :46, is he walking under Ken which is why he didn't have to block high?
Anit-air sweep...
So he basically just punished ken the entire game and waited for counter attacks.. did I read that right
@hazeddon It's more than that. He kinda gets a feel for how Ken is going to react. Since the guy is hadoken happy, he waits for him to stop and jump to throw or something like that. Or he punishes teh hadoken when he's in sweeping range.
Nice skills.
Great footsies game by Watson.
SPINNING BACKFIST SO GODLIKE
bro may i use this footage for educational content please?
if u link back to my video
So lemme get this straight, he was walking into srk range to bait the dudes dp's right? Then he back dashed and punished right?
Sort of. There is no backdash in hyper but yes that is exactly what he was doing. Baiting and countering.

cool
@Scuddi The video serves as a good example to prove the point made in the text though.
It's like he's mashing a button that makes his opponent shoryuken at the right(wrong) time
Seems Watson can maintain distance but can he maintain an arcade?
+AgitoTwinks you can only find out next time on dbz.
He still did it. Have you ever ran a business, you bum?
beautiful.
you started the flaming when you said "You don't know smash bros melee GRRAB. "
you don't know me.
Amazing skillz.
hey Liang
@Crayfis LOL, I see that. I'm surprised I caught that because usually my footsies suck, lol.
he got hit twice the whole two rounds, and both were trades.
very nice guile

impressive.
and here we have fighting game flame war #4,879,412
btw amazing
instead of a short he shouldve tried a strong shoryuken maybe? he might of knicked guile when he through out that standing fierce.

@NicX1 me too. It's such an obvious and literal phrase it really irks me when people fuck it up...but somehow it's also kind of satisfying ;)
i read this as hf guide, hahah - was thinking "ummm wheres the commentary?"
not that it matters
Great footsies.
This Ken player isn't using one of Ken's best tools - instant air tatsu.
I wish there was footage of tomo if he was even better than Watson
Hmmmmmm is this the legendary Tomo Ohira?
No, Tomo is way better and does crazy combos with Guile. This is Mike Watson.
what is mike watson?
Did you even read what I said?
@3DarkTemplar
wrong, tomo ohira was the best
It's meant to be sarcasm, but I feel the same way lol
RED FIREBALL
'footsie' is the new 'zoning'.
pokes all around
you can tell from all the old school video that Guile was a such a broken character
think fighting evolution.
This is true, but the ken player was no match for him anyhow.
Let's take this to private messages.
