Great play by Kurahashi in this matchup! As guile against Ryu/Ken players, first play patiently and don't jump over fireballs very much. Then, when the Ryu/Ken realizes this, you can easily pick your spots to jump when they increase the frequency of their fireball throwing. The backfist is also a great counter to fireball throwers! 2nd round was domination by Kurahashi!
i would prefer muteki's guile anytime. his guile is more offensive which actually brings out more of guile's potential. kurahashi on the other hand prefer to turtle most of the time.
I was talking about Guile players need to play patiently against fireball crazy Ryu players, look for a pattern, and start jumping over the fireballs once they see a pattern after 1-2 rounds. I think you though I was talking about Ryu jumping in on Guile, which is not suicide if you wait for a sonic boom before jumping or anticipate a guile sonic boom throwing pattern, which most average-good players have.
@blueberry pancakes with butter and syrup Daigo says that about Tachikawa even though he didn’t compete outside of Japan. No shame in Watson losing here….
The old SF games were glitchy and unbalanced. Capcom addressed those issued in Super and Super Turbo. Not perfect but more balanced. There's a reason Super Turbo is used in tournaments. It's ironic that Tomo gave up when Super came out. He couldn't exploit the glitchy and unbalanced aspects of the game from the older SF 2 games. Other players adapted and came to dominate in Super Turbo, Alpha, SF 3, ect.
@@maforo85bro st is not more balanced than hyper. And champion edition is still as popular as any sf2. Let’s not pretend ST with claw boxer and sim is balanced
Somehow, nothing beats a good Guile V.S. Ryu matchup. It's always interesting to watch... Both players tend to take their time, match one another up, play at their own pace and put all of their best tricks to use.
Turtling is what makes Guile so powerful, I never understand the idea of trying to play Guile offensively, when he has always suited turtling more. Even his ST counterpart is no different in this case, however, this match up is great, simply because I love the oldschool spacing of Guile vs Ryu.
@@TwistedSoul2002 I don't know what I was responding to at the time, but probably someone said Mike Watson is one of the best ST players. They probably deleted their message and I'm responding to nobody now. I definitely wasn't referring to Kurahashi since he was my favorite Guile player (unfortunate that he switched to Ryu).
That back to back backbreaker madness may well be the nastiest thing I've ever seen o.0
his timing on them back breakers is on point!

kurahashi is beyond godlike
Mike Watson thinks being known as a good player from a dated champion edition with limited variables and slow speed is going to mean something :)

SHO- OOOOOHHHAAAAAHHHHH!
brutal
OH MAN I LOVE IT!!! GUILE FTW
and he can do combos into super that shouldn't work. their sbo match is still a classic
It seems Watson really enjoyed eating backfist after throwing close up Hadoukens, eh?
DSP should have watched the second round of this fight before that match he had with his HD Remix Akuma vs. the random Guile.
Those backbreakers look like they hurt like hell...

2nd round was too brutal
That Ryu player is Mike Watson. You just don't know

mike watson got impatient
@JED707 I have many times. Just not exactly in this manner. And not in ST, in SF2CE, and SF2HF.
Pure pwnage
Shoto killer.
No
backfist in the face
yes but he sucks in this match....
oshit
if by "one of the best ST players", you mean next to hundreds(maybe a thousand?) ST players better than him in Japan?
A thousand players better than Kurahashi? Even 10 years ago that was complete bs.
