    I love your videos and I have watched them all some more than once. I am beginning in bonsai but have at least 50 trees. You have taught me so much!! Thank you!!

    Great to see the update on the silver birch. That 3rd tree looks like it's going to be fine elegant swan from what was quite an ugly duckling.

      Yes, I agree about that third tree. 👍

    That third tree is definitely a winner - it has real elegance and I think it may become one of your best 'created' bonsai. Great stuff Jason.

      Thank you Xavier. By removing those other potential trunks I’ve removed the issues and confusion. It’s got a bit of a “swans neck” now but will grow increasingly more elegant with time and development of the upper canopy.

    Your third tree has become a marvel in my opinion. It has become a very interesting one with lots of potential. However much I love the first one, the third one -for me- certainly is the most appeal.

    • @TheBonsaiGarden

      It’s certainly different from how it was and quite unique. It will be interesting to see how it looks in the next couple of years.

    Tree No. 3 looks way better now! I love it! You didn`t kill it, that`s BS and rude to say! Keep on your fine work. All the best from South Germany. 🤠

    Great video Jason. Interesting to see all of the silver birches that you have. The white of the trunk is really beautiful. A very special characteristic.

      Thanks Alex. A bit of a major change of direction in that third tree with the multi stems…

    Really enjoyed the work and thought process you put into all the birches Jason. Your work on the third tree helped me clarify handling of one of my own which has similar competing trunks. I was afraid to remove anything, but after seeing your results, I will do like-wise. Your first birch has really taken well to your wiring. I've been wondering all year how it would react. I love looking at our neighbor's tree and tracing the weeping boughs. They grow up, and hang, and then grow up again and hang - like a cascading waterfall. Your is well on its way to look similar!

    • @TheBonsaiGarden

      Thanks Sue. I understand the fear of removing the branching - it took me a while to take this drastic action on the tree. I spent a year just looking at it and considering the options. I had thought I could air-layer those other stems but saw they were a bit thin and had inverse taper and would have made equally awkward trees. The key was finding a convincing trunk line with taper. Good luck with your tree. 👍

    Thank you for showing us the trees you got from Tony, RIP. I don't know how you guys deal with the negative people and their cranky comments. Every time I start to think about starting a you tube channel, I am reminded of how nasty some people can be so I drop the idea.

    • @TheBonsaiGarden

      Thank you Lisa. For the most part comments are kind or constructive. Though there are thoughtless people who sometimes make odd, hurtful or dumb comments. Best to just ignore them and concentrate on the majority positivity 👍

      You deal with negative comments by letting them wash over you. Critique fine, abuse unacceptable. You will see the people who watch your channel for the real reason and ignore the rest 😊

    I love both birch bonsai and full trees, I have 3 birches in my yard, I had 6 a few years ago but had to take 3 down due to rotting from the inside. Atleast I got a lot of firewood

    Amazing video as always Jason. Sorry to you and everyone in the community I've been slowly getting back to my old passion so I've spent less time watching bonsai content. But I was on this channel and thought I'd pop in and say hello

    Tree #3 is going to be a Dandy for sure.

  • @davidparry2301

    All great trees Jason. Favourite is number 1 as its style is most sympathetic to how a birch would grow in the wild. I’m currently trying to develop a similar tree but struggling to get any new branching in part of the trunk which is bare.
    Most looking forward to how you develop the 3rd tree 💪

    • @TheBonsaiGarden

      Thanks. I think now tree 2 is the most problematic and possibly the solution is a trunk chop next year and redevelop the branching. Tree 3 is off to a good start but quite a transformation after losing all those major branches. 👍

  • @suer666

    I think the third tree has definitely improved with the cuts. Must have been a difficult decision to change it so dramatically. I know how it feels. I did something similar to a hawthorn I inherited from my dad. Well done x

    • @TheBonsaiGarden

      Yes Sue, it was quite a difficult and problematic tree. Hopefully I have resolved many of the issues and much simplified the design now.

    So how long have you had a pet crow??

    • @TheBonsaiGarden

      I thought about adding some out-takes at the end. There was a point where I had to stop filming as the crow was shouting at me.

    i thought bonsai ment small tree not small stump with a leaf or two it does not look like a silver birch anymore i dont like this style but its all down to ones choice

      You do know this is still in development and not the finished tree?

    • @lesoo3

      @@TheBonsaiGarden yeh but you can see it will never look like a birch dont like the style of large stump's with a small canopy not saying its going to look ugly i just prefer the bonsai to look like a shrunken version
