    Great video William! Thanks for the shoutout! I played around with the path maps for the text node a bit, I like how easy it is to make dashed lines with it. I like the idea of using Webdings to change the dashes. That’s a great idea.

    • @WilliamJusticeMedia
      @WilliamJusticeMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks... This one took a bit to put together. I did have a quick question for you. Not sure if it is a resolve thing or something with my computer, but in fusion... sometimes...when I make property adjustments (ex changing the position on path for the text path)....the viewer just goes blurred while I am making adjustments, then clears up as soon as I stop making the adjustment. Do you have this issue very much?

      @@WilliamJusticeMedia I've seen that on other people's videos, but I don't experience it. Is your Memory Configuration maxed out in the System Preferences? Mine is set to 12 and 9 for Resolve and Fusion. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Im on a pretty old macbook for most of my tutorial recordings. Does it happen all the time, or only when your screen recording?

    For the travel map wouldn't it be easier to use the "Write on" parameter on the text?
    It's also a way to avoid the concave curve at the tip of the line due to the mask. And dashes would appear on full, which is a style choice, but could look like 'footsteps'.

    In part 3, any particular reason not to use the "Write On" parameter of the Text node to animated the line instead of the Mask Polygon?

    • @WilliamJusticeMedia
      @WilliamJusticeMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, you can definitely use the write on parameter to get the line to move. For this video i was just experimenting with using the polygon in a couple of different nodes. but either way would achieve a similar effect. Thanks for the comments.

      wish you could go through our videos n do an audit in terms of editing, VFX, etc. We started with premiere Pro n after about 5-7 Videos shifted to Davinci. Even though premiere has more ready presets n template projects etc we now prefer Davinci for some reason. But I want to take my Davinci (fusion) skills next levels... You are helping me do that. Thanks for that.. 👍🏻

    How can you make fire or thunder going around in a path animated

    • @WilliamJusticeMedia
      @WilliamJusticeMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. There lots of ways to set this up. The quickest way would be to use a polygon node as a mask on a background node., add your path (close the path .. connect the 2 ends)... Uncheck solid, and increase the border width. Use the background to set the color. You can then adjust the position and length (decrease)...to create an animation of the line moving around the path. Once you have the animation you can add a lighting effect... To see how to create this effect you can checkout my frame video. .th-cam.com/video/PpF5o7lLMiU/w-d-xo.html

    Is it alright if I call you Bill? Just getting into Davinci Resolve. And it’s pretty overwhelming. Attempting to make some custom widgets/overlays. I’ve watched most of your videos, along with dozens of other talented community members, my question is...Are you able to take a pre-motioned video, (eg. The ones found on profounder.com) specifically the smoke/fire/spark effects and use these in a still/motion widget/overlay.
    A quick example, when a new subscriber or follower is presented, can I take the smoke effect, transition to a fire or spark and make the new follower/sub’s name pop up when it clears? Or would I need to use a different file format/effect.
    This would be on the streamlabs platform. Appreciate any info/future video showing us how to accomplish this. Thank you

      @WilliamJusticeMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andew...You can definitely call me Bill... I am not familiar with profounder, but would assume you could take their media files and use them. Think I would know how to use them in resolve, but not sure how to integrate those into a streaming platform like streamlabs.

    Great tutorial but is there a way to do the same thing with a paint tool? I'm rather new at this but I'm trying to outline an object but where the line floats next to (and surrounds) the object in 3D.

    • @WilliamJusticeMedia
      @WilliamJusticeMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that I know of.. Dont think the paint tool has an outline option.

    • @sky173
      @sky173 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @William Justice Thanks for responding. I think I got it. I used the planar tracker to track the ground, the shape tool, then a mask to hollow out the center, but it seems there's gotta be a better way.
