Milano 89 Hi , I cooked the rice first for about 5 to 7 minutes or until the water evaporated then cover it cook it for 15 minutes on the lowest heat btw each cup of rice needs 2 cups of water .
To cook rice properly without a rice cooker you need to measure. 1 Cup of rice to 1.5 to 2 cups of water ( it may seem very little water but its fine ). Next wash the rice to remove all the extra starch ( just lightly putting it under running water for a few seconds should be enough. Cook for 15 minutes but check at 10 minutes and keep an eye on it after that as different rice and heat will cook differently, but on average 15 minutes should be fine. After 15 minutes your rice should be nice and fluffy. Smileys cooking method is different because you are cooking the rice 2 seperate times, so first time requires less.

Each cup of rice need to be adding 2 cups of water on it and this is for all kind of rice recipes : )
