Hi Falling, the dial was use in a fast vehicle gauge and Rolex pick it up there. The dial has a historical story to tell. The dial almost look exactly as the Gauge. Hehehe cheers mate 🥂
Bought my AK 2 years for a phonemial price.Since the prices went up crazy.I love the watch for being a parts bin watch,I always could never decide what Rolex to buy.I always wanted the Sub for its bracelet bring brush and always want a Explorer because of its dial and always wanted the Milgauss but hated the polish bracelet so this watch ticks alot of boxes.It might be perfect but then again no watch is ever will be.
🤣 I made my comment before watching the whole video. I didn't know anyone else agreed with me. I love the Air King. The only thing that kills me is that the first marker should be 05 instead of a single 5 marker. In that way the markers would be balanced. As it stands there is more distance between the triangle and the 5 than the triangle and the 55. It's just not balanced to me.
Anyone who owns this watch & follows the market will know this model has jumped up on the grey market lately. Even if you don’t like it you can just about double your money if bought at retail through an AD. It as easy to get as one may think for so called parts bin watch.
It needs two digits on all the numbers? Some pieces out there come with 10, 11, 12 on the dial, so how do you manage that? I like the AK because it is not as boring and conventional as most of other Rolex pieces.
Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems to me that this is essentially a Milgauss with the following changes: They replaced the unique green crystal, handset, and dial, cheaped out on the lume, and brushed the center links on the bracelet. The lumed 12 o'clock triangle is the same part from the Explorer and the 3,6,9 non-lumed indices are parts bin left overs from the previous Air-King. The handset is standard Mercedes hands (they did paint the second hand green). The only unique thing here is the printing on the dial (non-lumed of course). The Milgauss might be a polarizing watch, but it seems that more effort and attention to detail went into its design. This seems like a low effort parts bin piggy-backing off that model. Frankly bizarre for a supposed pilot watch.
Dust under the crystal, WTF! The point you made about it not wearing as comfortable on wrist as other Rolex's is a good one! Having worn submariners and explorer's before the comfort on their bracelet's is amazing. And I agree with adding a "0" in front of the "5"...good video, ty!
I find the submariner uncomfortable for reasons I show in the starbucks 41mm sub video but overall the bracelets are a dream on all rolexes! Thanks for watching.
I have an irrational hatred for this watch. Beginning with the fact that the 5 ruins the symmetry of the watch by not having "0" in front of it. I hate the different Arabics they used, I hate the proportions, and personally I feel an everyday sports watch should have a date complication but that's just me nitpicking.

I think you’re right, shrink the numbers down a bit, add lume, thin out the case, AR coating internally. Or just discontinue it. 😂
Rolex does not do AR coating on any of their watches do they?

Talking about the case, movement, bracelet, handset. The bare minimum they did to make this new watch was a new dial.

Yes I thought about the dials with 10, 11, 12. Somehow it is less of a OCD trigger then this.
