Listen !!! My moms side of the family literally both my grandparents on my maternal side… they are from Louisiana ! And I’m not sure what it is but I liked the simplicity of having rice & gravy together !! Like it reminds of the south and what southern hospitality is like & that feeling of feeling like ur at home no matter who’s making it ! That’s the perfect meal to me

there's this senegalese dish called thieboudienne, which means rice and fish. the perfect bite is when you have some rice, a piece of fish with roff (an herb blend that's a has a little kick that's stuffed in the fish, usually red snapper), sauteed cabbage, sauteed carrots, bissap (a spinach whipped sauce), and a bit of sauteed yam. so so sooo good!

My favorite meal is sancocho de rabo (oxtail stew) with a side of rice and avocado. After that, it’s maduros or tostones or mangu with fried eggs.

My perfect meal is (Nigerian) rice and stew with broken up pieces of plantain in it. It gives me nostalgia because as a kid my dad used to break up the plantains for me so that it would be easier to eat.

Mine is kinda cheesy I guess. My church used to do this NYE event where everyone had to bring food from their culture and then we'd play games, worship, and just meet ppl of the community I've never met. The food was always amazing. I got to know so many cuisines that I've never had that way but even better I met amazing ppl that I wouldn't have known any other way.

My mom just passed in December from cancer. Im 26 and definitely envious of people who still have their mothers. Especially when i see people in their 50s and 60s who STILL have their mothers. It just feels so unfair

It’s most painful to think she never met my partner, won’t be at my wedding or take care of my kids. But I’m glad I had her as long as I did and know she’s always looking down on me. I’d like to think the same for you. ❤️❤️
Well, ideally, children should outlive their parents and no parent wants to bury their child. It should be the other way round after a long and fruitful life .
I just need to be with my family and the smell of a charcoal grill with lighter fluid heating up for the Barbeque to start. Old skool music (Family Reunion by the O'jay's in the background) tears me up because those days are gone. So many member's have passed on so we don't get together like that anymore.
My favorite meal I had today for lunch after 2 yoga classes, tacos with brisket and oh. My. God. OH MY GODDD

rather go before her Mama which was the exact words l used,when out of frustration l watched dad suffer...l asked God to take me instead of him...(imagine ! 😒)

Just like Adrian says I love to make a feast on holidays like Christmas Thanksgiving I like baking pies turkey and stuffing and plenty of side dishes

I remember when my aunt was alive the whole family would meet at my granddads house and everyone would catch up and cook together. Ever since she died in 2010 we've never done it again
Mommy makes the best bacalao. Panamanian version. Arroz de coco con guandules. And on Thanksgiving no one makes stuffing like her. I have alot of favorite foods. But those are my best.
My grandmama's Chicken and rice/chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese, and her fried chicken, sitting up in her house that ain't got central heat or air, letting the window unit or the box fan blow on me while I eat😌

I have two perfect bites: a slice of ripe banana on a spoon with spicy chili beans, a piece of cornbread, and white rice. The other one is a carne asada plate with tons of homemade tortillas picking up the items with the tortilla Ethiopian style then dip it in some fresh salsa verde before taking a bite. I am black from South Texas and found out I have East African heritage they eat with banana as well. Now I know where I get it from lol.
