- The XCR may not be the most popular sled in the Polaris line up this year but It is still one of the best! There is no sled that out performs this sled in the bumps!

I got the red white and blue one coming, I can’t wait, I live just 2 hours from the manufacture and we are getting the first snow today
wish we were getting snow! You'll be one happy camper!!
Of course, I snow check an XCR and the boost was tempting, but not enough for me to sway from the XCR.
FIRST NEW SLED EVER FOR ME!
Finally, at age 54, I can afford a new sled.
This is really the ONLY 2023 XCR video on TH-cam, so thanks for posting exactly what I bought. Red and black exactly! Snow is coming, hope my sled
Arrives by Jan.13th here in NE Ohio. Great vid
Have you tried scanning the Polaris logo on the front of the hood to see if it has a chip and loads information like Polaris says some models will do?
Congrats on the new sled thats awesome! youll love it thats for sure and i hope you get yours before then. I did not try and scan it to be honest!
@@JESSEJAMES322 That sled Sr has is exactly what I ordered, thanks for the preview! Mid smoke windshield, red rails, red spindles, 7s, the only difference is I ordered a 136. Thanks for the detailed discussion on the dampers, hope that helps some folks. Love another video, just on the rod motion vs washer stack and high speed vs low speed showing a shock dyno and the resistance. When Sr says “ stiffer “ it’s not very defining. Just a suggestion, I need to learn on my sled all I can.
I would love a shock dyno but that’s big $$$. As far as understanding the shocks and what goes on inside we did a ton of videos last year. We went inside my buddy Joeys shocks and revalved them. We did another video on just high speed and low sleep. Anything past that let me know (aside from a dyno)
This is great, thanks. Bruce has a good way of explaining sled suspensions in lay-mans terms, I dig it.
we try! We know its a lot going on so we try to make it as simple as possible!
See one of these today in tug ...wow in person thing is sick!!! Now i want one!!! Black and red sweet!!!!
they are good looking!
I am really looking forward to the differences in the primary clutches. Looking forward to that video.
we are interested to see also!
I have a question for Bruce on this exact sled if possible. Maybe you can do a video on the subject of track length. I snowchecked the exact same 2023 xcr 850 128” track 1.35 cobra. Same color combination as well. Anyway, at the time of the snow check there were production shortages and dealers were only allowed a certain number of units based on track length. I originally asked for the 136” track but the dealer was sold out and it was 128” or nothing. Now I see certain 2024 models are not available in a short track. Will this impact the resale of my sled? Are shorty sleds a rarity now? What are the pros and cons? I feel like there has been a shift recently and people look at you funny if you are not driving a 144 Assault etc. I actually like the configuration of the sled and I like how the video says Bruce drives a shorty. What should I be telling the people who ask me why I bought a shorty? I live in an area with low snow conditions at sea level. Thanks! Love the channel by the way. Admire Bruce’s expertise on everything Polaris!
Man Jess, Gotta love that black and red XCR 😍 That’s one sweet sled 🤙🏼
Yes it really is a sharp sled!!
@sometimeisnow Just picked up this sled in the 136 flavor, same.color options. First ride was great! It's going to be a long summer!
Thanks, great overview, just swapped my assault for this sled in the 136
Nice there ya go!! You're going to love it
Oh boy that sled with the 900 is going to be next level when that arrives.... how could it not?
will be awesome right?! Thats what we've been saying!
Hey Jesse great video as always. Don’t know if you remember me but I bought the 2022 850 XCR back in Feb. red white and blue. Anyway it was on the list of recalls for the fuel sensors fix 🌋. Just got fixed two days ago at dealer. Just wanted to let you and your followers know that Polaris is getting it done.
there ya go thats good news!! SouthSide has fixed about 50 so far!
I just picked mine up about two weeks ago and got the exact same color way.
its a very sharp sled!
I just got my Sunburst Red 850 VR1 in and can’t wait to try it out, I’ve been a Cat guy my entire but made the jump. If you’re looking for some good different places to ride we get a bunch of people in Northern Maine (St. Agatha - Madawaska area) that trailer up from New York and Pennsylvania every year.
You will be one happy camper on your new sled thats for sure! any questions make sure to reach out. everyone has been telling me to go up there. i almost made a trip in march last year when there was no snow down here.
Great looking colour. Love your vids
thank you! much appreciated!
“More room for activities” - Step Brothers quote. Nicely done.
one of the greatest movies!
@@JESSEJAMES322 I think so too, but my wife hates it. haha
Must be a guy thing!!
Hey, Jesse, I think im going with the 2024-2025 polaris xcr 850. I went to my polaris dealer and talked with my good friends at moms north country powersports. Once I get my sled i would like to meet you and Bruce and maybe do some trail ride.
congrats and yes would love to meet everyone
I'm watching one your videos right now.
appreciate that!
Hi Jessie love your show. I own a 2022 xcr 650 128 I can't seem to find any good options for ice scratchers can you do a episode on ice scratcher's please thanks
Thanks for following. So we also are looking for the best option. I think we found something but yes we will do a video when we come up with what we think is the best option!
bruce is so chill
yes he is! Thats why we get along so well!
Yeah XCR the beast for ditch banging. Love my 21 650 137 on the moguls. Just broke in last year.
XCR really is a better set up though
That is a sharp sled, apparently you haven’t tried smart shocks on skidoo though, flat out amazing, every time i seen a whooped out trail i got big ol grin on my face! The bigger the whoops the better it is.
i heard they are great but just not my style! but everyone i talk to say they work great!
@@JESSEJAMES322 Honesty so many insane options out there today. Xrs with smart shox, xcr and my personal favorite lynx rave re. Crazy time to be a snowmobiler!!!
yessir it is! And it will only get crazier!
Nice! Thanks for sharing
thanks for watching!
Lynx suspension is hands down the best in the game nothing can keep up in the rough stuff with the pps3 but Rmotion x and Polaris are a close battle for second.
agreed it works great but its the rest of the sled i dont like
😆
@@JESSEJAMES322 i personally love it. Best sled ive ever owned. But polaris killed it this year i wouldnt hesitate to buy one. The new 9rs are sick.
i spoke my mind last year about what i didnt like and everyone thought i was biased so i dont even say anything anymore hahaha. 9R's are sick. want to get my hands on one this year
@@JESSEJAMES322 i got the chance to ride one of the prototypes last year. A buddy of mine works as a tech at Polaris in Minnesota. We went on a Deer Hunt in Wisconsin and he was able to set up a ride at the headquarters in Wisconsin. All i can say is the 9r is something special. Polaris really killed it with that sled. Alot of my buddys have gone to ski doo due to issues with Polaris but im not brand loyal. I love my lynx for the aggressive riding i do especially when the Hill gets rough and clapped out. Next year i might try the 9r though its really a great machine.
Jesse… I’m wondering if I can go with 2.52 pitch like on the XCR vs the 2.86 pitch standard on the VR1? Is the skid the same on both sleds?
you can yes. just have to get different drivers. I did it two years ago on my VR1 that i did the big wheel kit on. If you go back in my videos youll find it!
Thank you so much for the video 📷
anytime! Thanks for watching!
Hey Jesse, what ski shock springs will help hold the front up on my 2021 xcr 850? Too much sag and roll for me and I don’t want to adjust compression to make up for weak springs. Thanks
Hye Joey. so XCR's come with 100 pound springs. You can jump up to 125's or 150's. Ive run 125's and really liked them. what is your weight?
@@JESSEJAMES322 I’m right around 185-190 with gear. I know people say they ride aggressive all the time but we really do and at high speeds, I don’t feel confident with the front swaying around corners. I’m running c&as so the bite is good but the springs don’t seem to keep up.
Do they have a 1.75 on a 129 track option? It was great a few years back when polaris did that.
Polaris does not offer one to order but we ran plenty of 129 x 1.75 tracks back when i raced that you could swap too
Do you think if you upgrade rear spring to an HD instead of stock spring which now is an HD that it may be to stiff on 23 xcr
No It won’t. Most likely will still be too soft. If you go back on my videos we did a ton of work on the 22’s
I order ed HD springs for rear end on new xcr 850 instead of stock spring now I wonder if now it will be to stiff
The 23’s come with the HD springs from the factory
So now that the HD is the new "stock" spring is there a new "hd" spring trying to get a Handel on this cause I paid for an HD spring in this years snow check
AWESOME!!
you know it!!
Jesse do you have direct experience with the 1.5 storm track? I know it’s not available ( hopefully soon ) in the 2.52 pitch. I have it on my vr1 and have been very happy with it. Wondering how it compares to the 1.6 cobra
I think the 1.6 cobra is a better track. I had two sleds with 1.5 storms. good track but didnt wow me. Cobras I think are way better
What do you like better about it? Just had more grip ?
Hey Jesse 202- VR1 what the heavy duty torsion spring part number
snowmobiles.polaris.com/en-us/shop/accessories/shocks-suspension/2884974/
Hey Jesse! Wicked looking colour! I went with the red and black VR1 . Was a toss up between XCR and VR1. I assume you have ridden the VR1 quite a bit as well? How does it differ from XCR in handling in your opinion? Another question, why does Bruce prefer the 650 over 850? Just curious. Thanks!
so the VR1 will be a more plush and soft ride. The XCR has some stiffer springs all the way around which i really think all sleds need. aside form that and some valving differneces they are exactly the same. Bruce likes the 650 because where he rides its small tight trails and he didnt need an 850
@@JESSEJAMES322 thanks man! Ya, based on your review and my experience with my XC last year I got my dealer to put the HD spring on my VR1. Talked to him today, it’s in and ready to be picked up…getting it this Saturday!😁. Already have some snow up here in Northern Ontario 👍👍
@@JESSEJAMES322 thanks
I'm thinking this was the sled I should have bought for my area but in a 650. We do not have groomed trails anymore, so it's all large, medium, or small moguls and such. This could be the machine to handle it all and still be able to fly up and down the trails and have fun. I purchased a 2023 BRP Expedition 900ACE 20" thinking it would be good for the conditions, but I miss the fast aggressive nature of riding. Not ready for a 'dad mobile' yet haha.
What do you think Jesse? XCR 136 or should I go with a Switchback Assault 650? (I have a Khaos 850NA 155 for playing in the hills and deep days I want to go off trail) Thanks!
i would recommend the XCR from what you just told me. That would be the best option for you!
What area you from what happened with the groom trail system?
@@HOTROD650 central Labrador, Canada. Trail system was called the TLT managed by the province's snowmobile club. They just gave up on the area in my town. So our trails are super grown over with alders/willows and just rough. Most is single tracks now.
When can I get it in the 9R?
Not sure but i am working on something with SOuthSide regarding 9R's. hopefully have some info soon!
My 2022 xcr was terrible in the bumps, was set up for little girls I think
As we stated in the video we worked all year on valving etc to get them to work like they should. But it’s still the best shock package Polaris offers
Tug hill as in ny tug hill?
yes
Good looking sled, but it still can’t compete with the Lynx for my taste. 😉
hey i dont hate you for that!! we all like what we like!
Good info, but dude hold your camera steady..... swinging your camera around not helpful. Thanks for the review.
its all a work in progress!!
So I guess they got rid of the stupid beaver tail do you know why
not sure the reason but many were not happy about It. and I love my straight tunnel but those ugly things worked great!
Isn't Polaris having reliably issues and recalls
not reliability issues but yes they have a recall out right now
I'm 250 lbs and bounce between 40 mph and 100 mph all day around new berry mi springs on 22 xcr were just fine also 2200 miles on belt still looks new and up in the sheves not drag racing or snow cross racing right ,, were trail riding.
as long as you're happy thats all that matters. We like the more spring rate ion the HD springs. Makes teh whole sled work better in our opinion. The belts hold up great. juts keep an eye on the width of the belt.
