Ive lived in a tent, lived in a car, lived in a shelter. All were better then having my children live in an abusive home. Ive lived on food stamps and cash assistance. Ive had it all and lost it all. Ive had to tell my kids no to toys, ive gone without eating to feed my son. I kept fighting, pushing and trying. I am now in a home, i have a car, i have a great career, my kids have the things they need and want. I am off welfare I am surviving...I am a riser!

This song reminds me of my daughter, and how she started out young, pregnant and single and went to Nursing School. She was a single mother of an infant, worked minimum wage jobs until she got her Associate RN Degree, then completed her BSN (Nursing Degree), and she is now less than 2 years from getting her PhD as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My daughter is now 31 and my granddaughter is 10. My beautiful daughter is truly a RISER. Every day she works to get better and better at her career and my sweet granddaughter is learning from my daughter’s example!❤❤❤

Lolopeakproductions 915 god bless you, your baby brother angel, your parents for sticking by each other, your sisters, every one of you!!! Your brother, he's a fighter...a riser...and he gave that gift to you!!! Fly high little man, and all of your friends who have to fight that monster when you're so little. Childhood cancer steals innocence, tears parents down to their core, and leaves siblings behind in the dust. My heart goes out of o you, and I pray that 2017 proves to be your family's best year yet ❤💔

I've lived through the poverty line. I've rescued a dog from abuse (so technically I helped her become a riser). I've fought the urge to commit suicide. I've lived through depression and self-harm without anyone but one internet friend, and two real ones knowing. My cuts last to this day, but I love God and know he will help me through it. Riser, Humble and Kind, and The Drive helped me make my way through it. Bless you, and all the country singers, who have helped me. God bless the U.S.A.

    Believe in the lord.
Put all your faith in him and he'll help you rise. Everyone becomes a survivor. Everyone is a survivor. God always has a plan. Sometimes it has to get worse for it to get better. In Jesus name.

  • @TeaoticSass
    @TeaoticSass 7 ปีที่แล้ว +29

Every time I listen to this song, I am overwhelmed with emotion. I think about how I am a survivor of my past and how far I have come. When I was 13 years old, I was forced to make a life changing choice of parenting my 3 younger siblings and myself, running away from everything to take care of only myself, or falling into the poison that my biological mother fell into: doing and selling drugs. She got involved with gang members who slowly began to take over my home beginning with our basement (stopping me from doing laundry), our kitchen (stopping me from cooking with the little food we had), and our living area (stopping us from being comfortable with our Saturday morning cartoons and such).
I made the decision to take care of my three younger siblings and myself because they are my blood. I was 13 when I took on the role of a parent to them, with two of them being on the Autism spectrum. I would send the two off to school on their buses, walk my other sibling to school, then walk to school on my own, all while still trying to make it to school on time and eating breakfast from the breakfast program in classes. I would get special permission from my afternoon class teachers for me to leave early to stop at the school food room for leftovers for dinner, then race to pick up my siblings from school and from their buses. We would quickly make whatever food we got from school in the kitchen and run upstairs to our 'safe zone' (bedrooms level) before our mother, her new boyfriend, and their gang friends would wake up from sleeping all day.
The upstairs, being our safe zone, was off limits to everyone else on my account. Anyone who tried to come up to use our 'nice' bathroom would be stopped by me. It was risky telling them to turn around but I essentially gained that motherly guard.
There is more to my story but for shorter purposes now, there was a drug bust in our house. My siblings and I were apprehended from our mother's 'care' and have been involved in the foster/CFS system for 10 years (myself being out of it for 2 of those years as I am now an adult).
Some people have the strength that others do not. My strength was my education as I learned about the typical drugs are bad, crime is bad, etc. My education was my escape and my siblings are my world. I was not about to let anything happen to them. My last foster parents who are now my parents by love took care of us and showed us a healthier and happier family life. My mom (former foster mother) said to me "your job is done, focus on you and your schooling, soar like an eagle because you deserve to be happy. You're a survivor, not a victim. Remember that."
And that I am. Thank you, Dierks, for creating this beautiful song.

This video reminds me of my mom soooo much. I couldnt tell you how many times we stayed in a car or a homeless shelter or asked a church organization to help us out when I was a kid. She worked so hard and got kicked around soo many times. I remember my little brother didnt come to our babysitters one day and my mom stayed back from work and looked all over town for him and she lost her job. She didnt blink once because to her knowing we were safe was more important than any job ever. I try my best to help others who are in a tougher situation than myself cuz i know what its like to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. I remember doing hours of detention cuz my mom worked a third shift job to make ends meet and her job ended at 7 am and my school started at 7:15 and she couldnt make it home in time to get me to school before first bell. She always apologized and felt so bad about it but I didnt care cuz I knew she was trying her damndest to make a better life for us. I would do it again and again. Love you mom.

I'm a rider! I'm a dad, husband and provider. The oil crash is about to try and trip us but I've got a war plan. We've been here before. But I'm smarter and stronger this time. I haven't slept properly in 2 months. I walk the dark halls of our home while everyone is sleeping, like a guard. Waiting for the time to fight my battle, while remembering the good times. The really good times are about to come. I'm a fighter and a survivor with one hell of a plan. To all those who read this, never ever settle for mediocrity. Cheers to all.

The strongest Riser I have ever known. She left a terrible situation and fought hard for years to give me the best childhood she could.
Thank you to all of the mothers out there doing their best. As children we don't remember if we had nice bedsheets, we remember the heart and soul you gave us.

I have a friend who decided to stand up to her abuser and leave the relationship a week later her house blew up. For the past two months I have walked through hell with her and faced her demons. She recently showed me this song and I have been listening to it multiple times a day bawling my eyes out, She says I am her riser. In truth she is the real riser. We have been friends for 20 years and the last 2 months our friendship has grown. The lyrics of this song is powerful to put it lightly.

My mom was a riser, I have no idea how often she hid her tears from us as our family fell apart. My wife is a riser. She went to school and held a job while raising two boys before I came along.

Our 3 year old daughter was diagnosed in March 2015 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Every day I am inspired to be a better husband, father, friend, and person by this little girl. Despite the hell that her little body is going through, she wakes up most mornings with a smile and desire to play and be silly like any other 3 year old. I'm not sure where she gets that from, because I cannot honestly say that I would have that kind of strength or resiliency.
This song has really been speaking to me lately. In honor of a recent milestone in her treatment, her strength, her courage, and her resiliency......I am dedicating this one to you, Kennedy. You are truly a fighter and a 'Riser'.
    Love,
    Daddy

My son played this song for me saying it reminded him of when I left his dad. We lived in a car for six months with his younger sister. I was that mom in the car with the police telling us to move along becaue we couldn’t sleep there. It was the worst time of my life. it was hard. But we made it . And I’m grateful my life turned around and I was able to provide for my family - have a great job a wonderful husband and our family is thriving now. to all those riser - have faith. Things will get better

I love LOVE this video! Dierks Bentley is great! I struggle every day but some people are more in need! I have had many poor people help me when I was stranded and they gave me great help! If I ever witness some sweet Mother struggling to buy food for her children then I will happily take her to the store and lets her buy necessary supplies and pay for everything. The good people on earth outweigh the negative people. Send love whenever you can!

I lost my sister to cancer, I also was diagnosed with it and fought t for 7 years, I have been homeless and still managed to work to support my little girl, I lost both of my kids after my son was born to the court system. I went homeless again and was diagnosed with a heart condition. All this and I never gave up. I now live with my niece and her family and I am getting my life back on track and getting ready to go to college to learn about animation to make animated movies. I always admire people who fall down but NEVER give up. Life can be hard. This I know but it will never keep you down unless you let it. BE A RISER

I survived Breast Cancer completely on my own with my daughter, no family help, opposite they are so toxic anyway and now having an eviction over my head and no houses in my area available, big huge housing crisis in Ireland where I live. But Cancer was the best what happened to me, taught me to let go of the toxic and focusing on the positive and finally giving me the courage to do the overdue changes which were sooo necessary! The Great Universe helped me and never left my side so it will guide me also on the path to a stable home.. I DEFINITELY AM A RAISER AND SURVIVOR!!!!

I am grateful that I have never been homeless, but I know what it's like to have to leave a toxic situation and completely start over. This video has me in tears because I know how hard it is to start over with no money. We want what's best for our children and will shield that at all costs. I am a riser because my son saved me. He gave me the strength to walk away and the motivation to build a new life.
