  • Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart (Hart Foundation) discuss their disappointing match vs the Road Warriors. Stream New Shoot Interviews 📺 TitleMatchNetwo...
    RIP to the Anvil. Here the Hart Foundation talk about wrestling the late great Road Warriors. Unfortunately, Road Warrior Hawk took too many pills before the match started and was in no condition to perform. Animal ended up doing most of the work against the Hart Foundation.
    Bret Hart & the Anvil also talk about their series with the Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Saggs) and how much better those matches were together.

    So about 20 years ago, my mother worked at a jewelry store here in Ontario, Canada. One day, she calls me at home from work and tells me a wrestler was in the store and told me to bike down there (~5 min bike ride away) to meet him. I'm about 14/15 at the time, and I'm assuming it's Stone Cold or someone right? I walk in and there's Jim Neidhart standing there. Buddy was in the area looking for a new watch or something. So I get to meet The Anvil, he shakes my hand and whatnot. He takes down my address from my mother to send me a signed poster and her a bottle of wine as she helped him get a good deal on his watch. He never did send me that poster, or send the wine to my mother. Lots of dudes from the Ontario chapter(s) of the Hell's Angels used to go into this particular jewelry store all the time back in the day. I remember one dude had lost an eye and had a fake one put in with a diamond stud on the iris.

    The Road Warriors were at their best when they had Paul Ellering managing them and before they ever came to WWF. I get why they went to WWF, but at the same time, I wish they had never gone to the WWF.

    • @ronaldshank7589
      @ronaldshank7589 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      They were there on at least three different occasions. Once in the Early 1990s, once again in the 1997 timeframe, I believe, and then, a third time, in the Early 2000s, with (Of all people!😁😁😁), Sunny as their Manager!
      You're most definitely right, though...they did better with "Precious" Paul Ellering.
      I love those crazy sayings, that they came up with, too.
      1:"We Snack on Danger, and Dine on Death"!
      2:(Here it comes!):"Ahhhhhhh.....What a Rush"!!!
      Heaven rest their souls...to me, they're always going to be the Best Tag-Team of all time!!!
      Rest In Peace, Animal and Hawk!!!

    • @FuzzyWuzzy75
      @FuzzyWuzzy75 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @ronaldshank7589 I believe (from what I have heard) Paul Ellering was almost like a father figure in some ways to Hawk.
      He was the one guy who could actually keep Hawk on the right path somewhat. He genuinely looked out for the best interests of both Hawk and Animal.
      Paul Ellering's role as manager of the Road Warriors was far more than what we saw on TV. He made their travel arrangements and took care of their business arrangements and negotiated contracts for them. He was also a great mentor to them when they were green in the business.
      And last but not least Ellering was entertaining as their manager. He played that evil genius super villain kind of role very well. He just fit well with Hawk and Animal in every way. I wished we could have seen far more of the Road Warriors with Precious Paul Ellering as their manager.

    Looking back, that is easily a dream match.
    Would have loved to have seen what it could have been at its best.
    When LOD came to WWF, I didn't think Demolition was anywhere near their level. And I believe that was the natural first place to take it.
    They never went over quite like they did in the NWA. Partially because Vince apparently didn't want to pay Black Sabbath to use Iron Man for their intro.
    Hawk was a truly gifted wrestler. It was typically him that worked 65% of the match, and Animal would come in on the hot tag and clean house.
    Hard to believe so many of these legends are gone so young. Bret is the only one left from both teams.
    God bless them all.
    Thank you for making wrestling special back then.

    The Nasty Boys were some characters. I met them about 15 years ago at a mall signing in Glen Burnie, MD and I asked them about the Willie Nelson story about them giving him one of the tag belts. They said Vince was still mad at them about that LOL. Great guys, even if they weren't the best workers in the world.

    That match between the Harts and LOD is on the Road Warriors dvd set released by WWE in 2005; not a bad match, but yeah it should have been a hundred times bigger and better. It could have been the match at Wrestlemania 7 but instead it was taped for a Coliseum Video VHS, that says it all. 😕

    • @alanguages
      @alanguages 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Demolition even wanted matches with LOD to be competitive and have LOD go over. Ax stated LOD just wanted to be dominant, but convincingly so. In other words another squash match. LOD was effectively the tag team version of the Ultimate Warrior. It is too bad, as Demolition vs LOD was a WrestleMania dream match. Instead LOD matches overall in the WWF were all crap, regardless who they went against.@@donjohn2695

    • @jonathanturbide2232
      @jonathanturbide2232 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @donjohn2695 That's not true at all, they could work lenghty matches as well. Go watch some of the matches they had with the High Flyers and the Hennigs in the AWA (some are on TH-cam), or their matches with the Midnight Express and Arn & Tully (Starrcade 87) for Crockett, or the matches with Money Inc or the Nasty Boys in WWF, as well as some of the fights they had in Japan....they could work long matches if needed, but the money was on them having short "in your face" matches, that's what the fans wanted to see from them.

    • @alanguages
      @alanguages 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Against Demolition. Not likely fans would buy LOD doing squash matches against them. It would be a waste for both teams. Demolition vs LOD should have been planned out like Ultimate Warrior vs Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6.@@jonathanturbide2232
