  • Kenmore model 795.5882. Problem comes and goes. Service Rep missed it when he came out a while back. Didn't see this particular fix online anywhere.

Well, it's been almost 4 months since this fix, and the water dispenser has worked without fail. Just sayin'. I think it's safe to say this was a valid contribution.

Dennis, thank you so much for the video. I have an LG Model # LSC27910ST that has a very similar panel. I have had it more than 13 years so today I followed step one and attempted to remove the ice funnel and it came off easily, I moved on to sliding the entire face panel off and it worked super easy. I unplugged two electrical fixing and then removed all the rubber parts and the flap for the ice and did a complete deep clean. It was so moldy the wife almost had a heart attack. I used a scrubber for those metal straws and cleaned the water dispenser as well, used my compressor to blow dry everything down and blow out some tough spots, but got it looking like brand new. Although my LG is not a Kenmore the process is the same. So thank you for the guidance.

Great Video Dennis!! Thanks for sharing!!! BTW...Service reps suck!! I love home remedy fixes. I have saved so much money over the years by fixing things like this myself!! Pretty soon Service Reps will be a thing of the past with people like you taking the time to make a video and TH-cam!!!

Thanks Dennis. A great video. My mom spent almost 2 hours twice waiting for a sears person to answer so we could have someone sent out. Instead of playing the waiting game (especially now because of this plandemic) I decided to research on bing and youtube for the fix. I have a similar kenmoore fridge and have read other comments here. I have a gut feeling that I have what I need to operate and fix. The big issue is opening the whole sucker up,...and you showed me how to do that.
    Thank you.
Will give you an update on my progress.

Hello, I really really liked your Shopsmith lift. I especially liked you going through your thinking process. The humor was great also. I built your lift for my Shopsmith. Because of a low ceiling the pipe wouldn’t work for me. The jack is great for my back. I hope you will make more videos. I purchased an old house 6 months ago and am in the process of restoring it while living here.
I noticed you have the same model refrigerator that came with the house. The refrigerator and freezer works great. For the first month the ice maker worked. I had ice melting and freezing in the bin preventing it from dispensing ice. I dried the bin. Turned the ice maker off and set it to run as cold as it could go. I then turned it on and no ice. I live in Florida and need the ice. Do you have any ideas or suggestions on why the ice maker isn’t working. The water dispenser works. But the ice tray isn’t filling with water. Please help.
    Thank you.

Roy, Thanks for kind words on my videos. Sorry for the delay, buy I probably won't be much help anyway - I am not an expert on refrigerators and you're probably done with the problem by now. You seem to be describing two problems: ice freezing in bin, and water not filling tray. My response would be check the flapper in the ice dispenser to make sure it closes completely after dispensing. Otherwise, ice bin is exposed to ambient (Florida) temperatures, allowing ice to melt and freeze together. I am in Hawaii, and had that problem and found the flapper impeded by mold. Failing to fill? I don't know unless the bin is full or the the sensor rod is jammed up, and thinks the bin is full.
      Aloha,

This worked! Thank you! The only change I made was, since I do not have a Dremmel, i heated up the flathead screwdriver over the stove. I used that to melt back the black stud instead of "trimming" it. Works perfetly!

    Very nice!
I do not have that problem, but it was a great video and fix.
I love the idea of "fine tuning" the original hardware!
One of the things that I've seen in other videos is that, in many cases, the switches are held in place by little plastic braces, which have a tendency to break.
The fix: drill a hole thru the housing and use a screw to hold the switch in place.
    Anyway I enjoyed it.

Great catch. It's no wonder the repair guy missed it.

This was not exact match for my refrigerator. But still was a big help. I had to stretch a spring.

I have same frig but my issue is when you get a glass of water it goes into the glass and behind the glass down front of frig and onto the floor making a big mess. It appears the sprayer nozzle might be cracked allowing water to escape from around it. I also noted a lot of black crud up around the ice dispenser and water nozzle.

The ice flapper on my Kenmore 795.5137 doesn’t open when trying to dispense. Sears sent me a dispenser lever thinking it’s broken where it engages. Hopefully that’s the issue. Does anyone know how to remove the front panel on this model. I can’t find tabs and pulling out from the tray area doesn’t seem to work. It won’t budge. Thanks.

Hello, I have the same refrigerator that came with my house, and the light came on where is said change filter. Does that mean change the water filter? If so I can not find it anywhere in the fridge.

It’s inside the fridge part.. to the right, next to the light. There’s a tab, press that.. it opens, twist the filter slightly to the left until it comes out, insert new filter twist in the direction ON THE FILTER. Hope this helps..🙋🏽‍♀️

If anyone can figure out how to remove the front panel off a 795.72052.11, I'd really appreciate any pointers! This technique will NOT work with a 795.72052.11. Unsure why, perhaps the drip tray, but trying to pry the panel out only destroys the paint on the body and the plastic on the panel.
