Not been to Big Bend but when I was a Kid my family would spend Christmas at Walkers Flat way way back in the late 40's , my late Brother inlaw had a shack at Teal Flat, In the 60's we lived at Sunlands just West of Waikerie... lot of water has flowed down the Murray since then , Other places I have lived over my life Beginning at Athelstone , Chain of Ponds, Eden Vally, Nuriootpa, Clovelly Pk, Wagga Wagga, Boronia Heights, Qld. Mt Isa, Perth, El Arish Qld, Adelaide River NT, and now I think at my age the final stop will be Spring Hill near Orange, NSW
As an Aussie living in the UK, your videos really make me feel homesick. Really well done. I love the silo one with the murals. That must be a new thing. I spent many years carting grain and never saw a painted silo.
G'day Mick & Sally. Thanks for allowing us into your travels. Neat Video sequences. Once my knee Op heals, then hopefully slip into your dust and tyre prints...Cheers guys.
I just saw a video on Black Hill and this one, so I think I’ll make a side trip to visit, I stopped at the little oval in Palmer so it’s not too far away. Will call in to Mannum too. Regards Sue
Nice vid,I know the spot well,my family use to camp at a place downstream from there called Kroehns landing. That spot eventually got overgrown with reeds so we started to go to Big Bend Nice spot ,had some great times. The fishing was better at Kroehns though for some reason, plenty of Callop and Catfish ,Silver Perch and big Carp back in those days Thanks for sharing.
I liked and I subscribed. Great videos. Always good to revisit if we intend going to one of your locations. What are you using to edit your videos? Background music?
Glad you like the videos and thank you for the subscription. I use PoweDirector to edit the videos, links to the music is listed in the video description.
I'd be worried more about what slithers along the ground than insects that bite. Some campsites like the on in the video are free, or you pay a fee and stay in a caravan park. i wouldn't swim in the river the under currents can sweep you away if your not a good swimmer, never dive in to the river, lots logs beneath the surface. But if you like a bit of fishing or catching Yabbies ( like freshwater Crays) and just chilling out, it's a great place to stay.
Big Bend is free to camp at, there would be insects that bite at different times of the year although we have never experienced this although we do not go there during the hot summer period.
Thanks so much for a look at this camping spot where relatives & their friends have gone over 👑 Holiday Weekend 🥰
It is a very peaceful camping area.
Talk about been spoiled with that cup of coffee. Another great video
Nothing beats a great coffee. Cheers mate.

Athelstone is near me

Thank you Max.

Glad you like what you see, the silo art isn't very old and is picking up pace very quickly here.
Enjoyed the video, I must have nearly passed u on the river on my River Murray adventure in my tiny houseboat 😊
cheers

Glad you liked the video James, yes it is a great spot.
It's a nice spot. The space between camp spots is good. Great video, Mick.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi guys looks like a great place nice and relaxing cheers 👍
There is something about a location with water that soothes and relaxes us, if no water then rich red dirt of central Australia is the way to go.
Nice break away. Picked the good weather.
The weather could not have been better for us.
Hi. I really like your drone footage on your videos. Hope to get across from NZ one day and drift around.😎
The drone adds to the experience. Enjoy your time over this way should you eventually come over.
Great video thanks for sharing.
Glad you like it.
use cart water from big bend too farm many years ago during 3 year drought
also use drop drum nets in there when were legal
I bet you would have some memories of those times.
thanks Mick

New to watcher. A few questions. Do you have flying bugs that bite. What do camp sites cost per night. Can you swim in the river.

Hows the mosquitoes?
We didn't see any, too cold I would assume.
Just realize it’s your winter, so I’m sure there’s no mosquitoes!
Correct you are Bob, there was nothing there to annoy us in any way.
Im totally jealous.....
Me too 😓😓
The calm water in the morning, the birds that were there, it all added to a lovely location.
As i am as well being in this lockdown till end of september
Cant go anywhere
hi how are you
