Yes, but the one shown for turning and burnishing can be used for more than just crankshaft work.
Processes such as this is why we have engines that, with minimal care, can go 150k to 200k miles and more and never leak a drop of oil.

Crankshaft machining has very little to do with leaking. Chemists have solved that for us by developing silicones and urethane compounds for liquid gaskets.
@@tumdeax I wasn't speaking of crankshafts in particular, but rather the great improvemnt in automobile manufacturing in general.

warum wird bei 1:12 die Bearbeitung als "Dreh-Räumen" beschrieben? Was unterscheidet sich zum reinen Drehen?
Warum werden die Lagerinnensitze bei 5:03 gefräst und nicht auch gedreht? Geschwindigkeit?
Hallo!
1) Als Drehräumen wird auch das Spezialdrehen / Tangentialdrehen bezeichnet. Wie der letzte Name bereits vermuten lässt stellt man hier tangential zu.
2) Die Lagersitze zu drehen würde sicherlich zu lange dauern. Zudem hast du viel kürzere Rüstzeiten bei der Anzahl an Werkzeugen - macht ja nen Unterschied ob du 1x20min oder 10x3min für den Wechsel für Wendeschneidplatten benötigst. Ein weiterer, dafür sprechender Grund wäre Protzen :D Wer hat schon so ne Maschine :P

Wegen den Rüstzeiten - also ich würde lieber eine Wendeschneidplatte vom Drehmeißel austauschen, als die 50 in dem Innenfräser da :D
What is the advantage to internal milling?
Stiffer cutting mechanism (less deflection of inside ring over disk), and perhaps no need for fast spinning of the crankshaft.
I would guess that internal milling used on outside diameters that are offset from main rotation axis.

That internal milling was the best - you don't see that every day. Video needs specs like time to mill a crank, production rate per hour, insert count, stuff like that would be interesting.
