In the connecting rod part, you have to change the dimension of the bigger hole from 76.2 to 63.5. There is an editing cut in the video that doesn't show that he changed the dimension. In 4:23 you can kind of see that the new dimension is 63.5. Like this comment for people to see it.
Im just gonna say it. I wish I was that smart. I am a diagnostic consultant for a major automaker supporting dealerships nation wide and its not a job for a dummy, but when I see you do that, I feel like a complete box of rocks. That is awesome work
For those off you not properly realizing: This is not a real engine. There are a large number of (small) mistakes and simplifications, wich mean this would never work. It is a good start however to use to explain how an engine works. But most importantly, this is a nice tutorial to show what is possible in solid works and how to do it. This also means that the exact dimensions don't matter at all.
I paused the video at 3:32:45, because it shows two things I don't understand. First I see the PartR11 floating. Secondly, it looks like the CamShaft Retainer is coming out of the Valves cover. Also, with a bigger project like this it is easier to number your parts. I like to use the reference numbers as following; 1.1.1-A-[Part name]. First number is referring to the project number (or main assembly). Second number is for sub-assembly. Third number for part number. Letter for revision references ("A" being "REV0" and "B" being a revision of "A", and so on). This will not only help finding your parts faster. It also orders them and you can still search them by name. This really comes in handy whenever you add all the bolts etc. to your project folders as well. Other than that very inspiring video!
For anyone getting knitting errors for the turbo change the distance between the rectangles from 80.45 -> 80.95 and increase/decrease the number or sections to the maximum/ minimum. It works on the newest catia version that way
Thanks, great video, appreciate the time you spent making the video. Had to laugh watching your computer almost dying at the end trying to animate the assembly. Good work my friend.
Very nice project to do on your own, I learned to use a lot of new features I didn't know before. There were some faults in the intake manifold: some open spaces and it didn't fit on both sides of the cilinderheads. I was able to draw an entire new intakemanifold on my own without these open spaces, and it fitted perfectly on the cilinderheads, which shows that I really am feeling confident with these features. Also, on both sides of the valvescovers, there were camshaftretainers intersecting with the valvescovers, that was an easy fix :)). The hoses didn't fit on the turbos, so I had to change the diameter of the turbo outlet. The gearratio between crank and camshaft was switched too. I also drew a complete exhaust system that fitted on the existing exhaustmanifolds. I Would recomend this for anyone who is interested in how a combustion engine works and if you want to improve your solidworks skilss.

Hi there. Thank you for the video. It's excellent. I will post here some tips for you guys to do the full engine. Here some corrections : 1) When you start the PistonRod at 3:55, make sure the dimension of 76.2 is always changed to 63.5 (you'll notice that he corrected it at 4:21). Thanks to plinsavi for finding this correction. 2) Make sure that all sketches are constrained (completely black), specially when you copy some patterns. 3) At 47:25, a weird rocker arm is designed, which doesn't fit in the assembly. Stop there. The correct rocker arm is here : th-cam.com/video/EmlJ1akp8zQ/w-d-xo.html Then jump directly to 57:40 to start the next part 4) after finishing the IntakeManifold1 (2:17:56), you'll notice that it is not perfect, because of how the middle part is connected to the 3 boundaries. A solution would be to add an extra sketch. for this, follow these steps : a) Move the Boss-Extrude8 on the tree to the top, just under Plane2 b) On the extruded face, create a new sketch and convert the entities in order to have a copy of the initial sketch (make this one visible to be able to copy it) c) on the tree line, Move the new sketch and place just after the Boss-Extrude8 d) Modify the Boundary1, Boundary2 and Boundary3 by using the new sketch, instead of the old one. Follow exactly the same steps show on the video. e) The result is a clean connection between the middle part and the different boundaries. 5) About the 5/16 hole at 2:33:00 : I tried several times with the shown values but it didn't work. After some tests, the custom sizing should be approximately : Diameter of the primary hole: 1.5in Major hole diameter : 0.332in Depth : 0.235in 6) When designing the CrankShaft Bushing (2:59:37), change the dimension of 76.2mm to 63.5mm. Otherwise, the CrankShaft will not fit into it at 3:03:14. 7) After adding the hoses at 3:40:16, you'll notice that they don't fit with the Airturbos. I suggest to modify the exhaust of the airturbos to have an external diameter of 50.8mm.

Rocker arm 4 first part 1 is not drowned for assembly. Different parts of part1 in assembly and drawing. Simply "Rocker arm part 1 is missing" Check it please. U drowned a part in @57:23 and but in assembly u used different part @1:01:30
Iam facing problem while assembling intake manifold. I think the part while doing assembly operation is different in dimensions then you showed in your video. Please help to resolve this problem..
okay the video is great but I had a hard time mating rocker arm and cams. I was able to apply cam mates to few rocker arms but always failed to mate all of them so I had to change the cylinder head design a bit to mount the cam shaft directly on the valves, that eliminated rocker arm completely giving perfect cam mate with the valve springs directly. Also dude if you had only talked a little in the video would have been much appreciated, just watching you video for hours was painstaking. Also when designing the spring i gave external references to the assembly so that they get compressed by the cams instead of just crashing back and forth in the cylinder head.
We did the process while drawing the rocket arm, but another part was used in the assembly part, so I couldn't do the rocket arm assembly, now it will affect the main assembly
This should be the rocker main body you need to assemble the whole rocker arm.th-cam.com/video/EmlJ1akp8zQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=SolidWorksTutorial%E2%98%BA
@@renanjauregui8705 Visually, the dimension you wrote does seem correct. But does it match the crankshaft diameter later? I would have to check the rest of the video...
Hello! i am going to tell you how i fix the problem with the holes in the intake manifold .step1.- offset the 6 squares 6.35 (outside) before boundary base (i used lofted boss now). step 2.- convert intities that 6 offset squares. step 3.- hide the first 2 sketches and use the 2 sketches with only the offset squares. step3.- use lofted boss instead of boundary base with the offset squares (in star/end constraints put normal to profile in both) step4. Show again the first 2 sketches to extrude the squares as shown in the video (extruded complete without selecting contour) . step5.-in a new sketck convert into intities the 6 original squares and keep only this 2 sketches (hide the others) step6.- lofted cut and set both normal to profile. step 7.- continue with the rest. Hope this could help you and sorry if my english is not the best. like so everyone can see this
Thats a great solution! here's the process I used: 1. Continue the tutorial as shown until you get to the extrusions 2. Extrude as shown but include the holes as well, make sure to turn off 'merge result' 3. Use the intersect tool and select all bodies, click 'intersect' 4. you can now select which intersections to delete. Select the insides of the manifold as needed. That's it! this way you can stick with the video tutorial most of the way.
Hi SolidWorks Tutorial. Thanks for making such a great model for practicing. But I am surprised in the Exhaust Manifold section at 01:37:03. when we choose bose extrude of Sketch 1 (contour 1) it gave an error of thin feature! Why!! So we extruded it in opposite direction and then modified it in the desired direction. and bang! it worked! I am surprised how did it work! I would appreciate if anyone can explain why it happed and how it just worked when we modified it later? Thanks, Bhavik.

Great video. Would it be possible to give the technical details of each part? Specifically their measures? I would have loved to recreate this model for my university assignment (giving you credit for its design), but my teachers did not accept it, for a lack of proper technical details.
Still, I did recreate some parts just for fun and practice and learned a lot! So thanks!
Did you find any

Turbocharger works with the help of exhaust gases......
The turbocharger in the video doesn't seem to work with exhaust gases...
I can't believe what I just witnessed! Hilarious and totally unexpected.
I love this video 🎥 😗
okay the video is great but I had a hard time mating rocker arm and cams.
This should be the rocker main body you need to assemble the whole rocker arm.th-cam.com/video/EmlJ1akp8zQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=SolidWorksTutorial%E2%98%BA

using the 76.2 dimension made the extruded cut at 6:42 extended through the semi circle and made it a through-slot
What did I do wrong?

the actual dimension is 63.5

in the piston, 50.8+12.7*2 = 76.2 , why look it bigger than the circle 76.2 in the right ??? i'm so hard to understand. 4:06
Hello! i am going to tell you how i fix the problem with the holes in the intake manifold .step1.- offset the 6 squares 6.35 (outside) before boundary base (i used lofted boss now). step 2.- convert intities that 6 offset squares. step 3.- hide the first 2 sketches and use the 2 sketches with only the offset squares. step3.- use lofted boss instead of boundary base with the offset squares (in star/end constraints put normal to profile in both) step4.
Hope this could help you and sorry if my english is not the best. like so everyone can see this
Thats a great solution! here's the process I used:
1. Continue the tutorial as shown until you get to the extrusions
2. Extrude as shown but include the holes as well, make sure to turn off 'merge result'
3. Use the intersect tool and select all bodies, click 'intersect'
4. you can now select which intersections to delete. Select the insides of the manifold as needed.
That's it! this way you can stick with the video tutorial most of the way.
Brothers and sisters help me with, the size does not seem to be correct when assembling, what to do ???

Hi SolidWorks Tutorial.
Thanks for making such a great model for practicing. But I am surprised in the Exhaust Manifold section at 01:37:03. when we choose bose extrude of Sketch 1 (contour 1) it gave an error of thin feature! Why!! So we extruded it in opposite direction and then modified it in the desired direction. and bang! it worked! I am surprised how did it work! I would appreciate if anyone can explain why it happed and how it just worked when we modified it later?
Thanks,
Bhavik.
guys at 28:15 it might be incorrect, the mirror plane should be the surface of the thin cylinder, not the thick one
Hello Andrew are u a automobile engineering
amazing such english much wow
the 76.2 should also be the thin cylinder.
