The idea with brass knuckles is to get more out of lighter hits like jabs and hitting lighter than you normally would but getting more results than you normally would. Like others have said holding them in a position that covers your middle knuckles and with a raking type punch is how I was instructed to use them. So it's great for when you're up close and can't get a full swing. Going for power will hurt the user, it's a less is more type thing.
My brother hit a guy with a pair of aluminum knucks one time when he was working as a door man in a night club. The guy had started beating his wife really bad on the dance floor, so my brother hit him in the forehead with a solid straight punch which caused the guy to go down but it hurt my brother worse than it did him. My brother had two fingers broken and had to get them set at the hospital that night. TEKKO is a better weapon, which is a martial arts weapon, which, all it would be is a stirup that is used just like brass kuckles only there is no divisions betwen the fingers. It is muck like a saber handle. Another version of this design is a meat tenderizer you can sometimes find, same thing used to beat on beef to tenderize it.
I found the same thing with the one finger glass breaker. punching hurt like hell but the hammer punch was alright and I was able to smash a microwave plate. fun video bro.
Buddy... knuckles will always break your hand when you hold them like that... lol! They go directly over your proximal interphalangeal joints or (middle knuckles). If you wear them like that you'll always hurt yourself and never hurt your attacker.

Ya you'll want that palm thing sitting on where your fingers connect to your hands and the knuckle part going over your middle knuckle and hit like a hook rather then straight on or you'll get hurt

I caused a boxer's fracture to my left hand and I am a lefty by punching my wall which I didn't realize was reinforced with brick on the inside. very stupid thing to do losing your temper and not being under control. when punching make sure you're not putting much force to your pinky and ring finger or you will have a broken hand like me and cry like a baby. I will never have a broken hand again because I carry the knuckles that I made at home. they are made up of just two Castle nuts that you can get in any hardware store welded together. I've punched many inanimate objects and there is no pain so if I punched someone's head I would have to be very careful not to wind up with gray matter all over my hand. that would be a murder charge so when you use brass knuckles think first. many states consider them a deadly weapon

I actually tried this with a karabiner clip and a padlock, both fit my palm well, and you're right, they both hurt like sacred bugger!! That's what they hurt like. I actually prefer things that strike like a kubotan or yuwara stick that make contact with hammer fists/modified hooks jabs and uppercuts. They don't hurt my hand at all, certainly not as much as the knuckles do anyway, so you can hit with more power. If they didn't hurt then I would like the knuckles though.

No worries, I actually live in the UK so anything carried for the purpose of self defence is illegal, they like to call it "premeditated violence". When in reality it's not that^^, its preparation, and if the place wasn't such a shithole there wouldn't be as much of a need for it in the first place. They never shut up about things being "offensive" when in reality its defensive, and the only thing offensive is them taking all our rights and people being offended by inanimate objects. Although I think you can still use things around you like improvised weapons, in the "heat of the moment" I believe they call it. Carrying everyday objects that could be used effectively, with an innocent purpose seems to be the way forward, as long as you NEVER tell the police its for self defence. It's completely ridiculous that the government don't care about our human right to defend ourselves effectively, especially when there's terrorists and people throwing acid etc crawling all over the place.

Yeah it's way beyond me how they think they can just ban the world into a utopia, it always works for the criminals, I agree. What's worse though is not the government that's doing it, the worst imo is the people who deny it or support it and believe in some false sense of security. Part of me thinks if this generation is stupid enough to tolerate all this, then they deserve the consequences of surrendering all their rights/freedoms that people have fought and died for. However I then realise that I don't want the same for their children and the next generations, who had nothing to do with it. There's been people who have gotten really badly injured, raped or killed just by relying on the police alone. The government clearly don't have the balls or the logic at that to impose the death penalty on people committing all those horrible crimes, if they simply did, you could just watch the rate plummet and the criminals disappear. So there needs to be more of a deterrent, firearms would be great, but even proper training with pepper spray/taser and a baton would be a lot better than nothing at all.

even if you're not holding them correctly the person on the receiving end is going to get hurt and you may wined up with some bruised fingers so which is worse a fractured skull or sore hand. I have a similar story and my teeth and all that good either that's why I had to speak up again. Ray Adams Coconuts are not harder than metal. How would people open them then? I've seen someone break one with his bare hands. I've opened quite a few coconuts and they are hard as hell, but not harder than metal.

You don't have to explain it. I realized what I did wrong and next time, if I do something like this again, I'll do it differently. I never claimed to know what I was doing!
even if you're not holding them correctly the person on the receiving end is going to get hurt and you may wined up with some bruised fingers so which is worse a fractured skull or sore hand. I have a similar story and my teeth and all that good either that's why I had to speak up again. I keep myself clean by staying busy and making a lot of stuff like those knuckles. it's actually fun to see what you wind up with
