    HOLY Shh.. it was right there in the menue.. all the time. this look-at-selected-layers feature kind of is a punch in the face!
    Was I the only one who had been aligning cameras manually to a point of interest? thanks to this daily tip now these times are over once and for all. thankyou!

    • @sturm3d
      @sturm3d 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      only problem is it doesn't take into considerance whether the targeted layer is rotated. So if the text is pointing away, the camera would not change it's orientation accordingly to face the text. this would still need to be done by hand.. in case I didn't miss something.. again.

      Hi Sergei,
      In your case, all layers are facing to front.
      What if ther are at, for example, 45º other at -45º and so on?
      Using the method you shown the camera go to the layer image, but how to turn the camera to face the new layer?
      I think it is a new turorial!
      Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    wow, great! and what if I would rotate the text? I mean not just push it backward or forward but also rotate? Is there any "command" or shortcut to point the camera toward the object? I dont mean "auto-orient" object to camera, but auto-orient camera toward the object, when the object is rotated. Thank you.

    Thank you! It's the usual way with AE - I had watched this tutorial before, but then completely lost track of how to 'look at selected layers' - and was getting vexed as it's hard to find. Is there a way to juice the SEO on this? like putting 'look at selected layers' in the title?

  • @diarrhea9721

    I thought this would be the thing I needed, but my camera is linked to a null object. Whenever, I use this to position into 3d space, it works exactly as advertised but seems to wipe out all of the previous keyframes on the null object. This is bizarre behavior.
    Other option is to delete null object and just use camera, but when I need to subtlety adjust position of the camera, it does not move the actual camera position, only the angle - any tips?

    Thanks Sergei,
    This is indeed a useful tip. To be honest, I never use 3D inside of after effect. It’s just too slow and clumsy to move around in a 3D AE environment. If I need 3D graphics, I just use applications like 3D studio max. Maybe this will make manoeuvring inside AE a little less shitty. Just for the simple things. It probably will never beat the "free" manoeuvring inside a real 3D application.

    • @ukramedia
      @ukramedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know exactly what you mean and I agree with you 100%, Michel. I don't do any 3D in Ae, I always do that in Cinema 4D.

    when i press custom view nothing happens and it just stays like active camera,what should i do?Also like anchor point doesnt have 3 numbers,it only has like two numbers when you press A. (im trying to make a cube and when i press A,i only see two numbers instead of three)
