Let me know below what you’d like to see shown off with the Vision Pro
Hi Jessy, i wanted to see what happen to the iron man scan in the beginning, when you put on the helmet. Does it show in the face time?
Either remove the mail badge or clean up, please! haha
More nomad sculpt. Maybe Apple will develop gloves and or you can pickup physical tools to work with digital clay. Not sure how V.R. will get around the feedback of pressing the Apple Pencil on glass.
can you use the apple vision pro for tracing for drawing or painting?
Love this video
It'd be nice if you could use an iPad as a physic drawing but see the model in 3D as an AR objetct an sculpt in realtime.
YUP! I'm hoping to find a way to do that.
More painting, modeling, texturing, scanning and sculpting is most welcome!
Scanning & modeling coming up next 🤘
the experence of Gravity Sketch on the Quest 2 is my best wow moment of the past years concerning modeling. seeing what you create in 3d is really impressive!
i agree, adobe medium as well - i still model on my quest 2 and love it, might need to upgrade to the 3, but i think i can confidently say that i am skipping the vision
Tell them we want a port of Gravity Sketch! They, and Apple, should realize this is a perfect match of App and Device.
Actually, you can go up to the app window and touch the undo button if you have problems selecting it with your eyes. The entire app is like a giant iPad screen. It responds to touch.
Thanks for this video Jessy! Saw a lot of the use cases for this from a tech perspective but I'm excited to see you doing this from a creative perspective! The XR and AR features that the Apple Vision pro offers is really cool and I hope apps like Nomad offer the ability to paint/sculpt/draw in real space.
It’s not better than quest 3 which costs less, has more support and works better when connecting to PCs.
I love apple Fritters... That's what i thought, watching this video. Looking forward to seeing what can be done with the Apple Vision Pro when it comes to the 3d printing space, though!
As a 3D artist what would really excite me would be something like the Polycam app (viewing the 3D model as a 'physical' object inside your space) but with sculpting/modelling/texturing input. Being able to directly sculpt or paint onto your 3D model as if it was a real sculpture, view it at real scale and in 3D would be incredible. Being able to view it in 2D for e.g. modelling from orthographics would still be pretty essential though.
I agree. That would be the entire point of getting one for 3D modeling.
This is what I’ve wanted to see. Nice one!
In accessibility, you can turn on a little circle for wherever you’re looking
Might be interesting to see on that modeling program
I don’t have that program so I can’t try
Curious if you can try using the iPad app Duet display in vision OS to use it to get a second display with your MacBook
I’m a big vr guy but I’m having a hard time seeing the daily use case for the Vision Pro. Maybe if I spent a lot of time traveling on airplanes or for specific work cases. But I don’t see this being able to replace my laptop top, tv, or quest 3
Right there with you… especially at the price point for this first iteration
I couldnt agree more. This should have been a tech demo at best from Apple. Its like google glass 2.0. AR is just not there yet and for 3500$ you cant even play vr games on it.
TV and movies seem to be the best use case for this device right now. Besides that I haven't seen much else that was compelling for long term use.
Youre all speaking on opinions for your personal usage. I feel as though that is very redundant and negates the benefit that some people who could very well have a use case for this. Its like a person that doesnt weat watches because they dont like the feel, saying there is no use case for a smart watch...yeah because they dont wear watches. @@sonicsnake44
lack of controllers is a huge deal breaker. Knowing apple they'll probably release a pair in the future for like $300 🙄
Have you done something like this for the Meta Quest 2/Pro/3?
Hey uncle jessy i noticed your mvc2 cab in the back, what is your team?
I love ur content so much
Good to see Apple coming out the 5 year old VR tech with a bit of refinement
I'm just amused that my HTC Vive Pro Eye cost a third of this 4.5 yrs ago
how does the mirrored macbook behave with an ipad in sidecar mode? that’s the configuration i use most often with a pencil, and i’d imagine the vision pro would be a good gateway between the macbook, itself, and potentially my phone.
Awesome insight into the vision pro, I'm sure with time and more apps you'll get even more out of it!
As someone who has been involved in the AR/VR/Spatial Computing field over the last 6 years or so, it's great to see compelling devices like the vision pro and quest 3 coming to market. I think a lot of people get tied up with the price or "limitations" right now, but this is a big leap into getting these technologies into the market for the better, more affordable future iterations to get developed.
Can't wait to see more of your content on how the vision pro can be used for 3D applications UJ 🙌
How is the accessibility on this device? I’m missing 2 fingers on one hand. Would I still be able to use this?
Yes you could, the accessibility features are insane. I mean it’s Apple
Thanks for covering nomad sculpt in the Vision Pro, it was a question I had and is now answered! Seems like it’s possible but hardware limiting. Look forward to more on this!
5:57 we must ask for a precise controller for 3d modeling! That, and the software ports, are what we will want for design.
Thank you, I've been wanting to see a video showing how drawing and designing work on the VP rn. Looking to see all of the new apps that begin to be released on it!
I can also see this being useful to practice graffiti when you made the canvas huge and got up close lol!
Is there anything in the vision pro that would allow you to use it as a camera lucida. For instance take a picture then attach that image to a canvas that you are drawing on (with the ability to change the opacity so you could see your hand and pencil or paint brush to trace the image and apply colors. It should then let you turn the opacity to view the painted image and to be able to see you paints and brushes to pick new colors as you are drawing.
I wonder if there’s any use for 2d artists? Like creating compositions/ designs in a 3d to 2d workflow? Or seeing what artwork could look like on different sized monitors (like for posters, billboards and so on)
Very fun and interesting video.
I am a professional photographer and my everyday life is Xreal air for watching movies on plane (or waiting in line to pickup kids from school) playing Steammdeck. Meta Quest 3 for remote desktop work. I do photoshop and lightroom and need access to home computer and server. Also meeting up with friends to game or watch movies. Pimax Crystal for PCVR gaming.
I predicted back in 2016. "Apple will come out with VR, call it something else, make it very sleek, charge way too much and have limited practical use... and people will think they invented VR"
I was wrong about the sleek part.
It's way too big for what it is. But at least it's bringing attention and acceptance to the industry.
There's no way to make it sleeker than it already is, not with all the tech that's inside
You have the xreal so u probably knows the limitations that it has compared to the Quest 3 for example
I was wondering about this on the quest 3!
Bro very cool vid man keep up the great work love your vids but I have one question why do you have 16,000 mails 😂 or is it just me
Incredible!!!!
The man himself
great review. But you can set your own gestures in settings... just like on the iphone
Can you tilt the virtual windows back or forward - or even place them down to look like they’re in a table or the floor? That’d be such a cool feature. Turn your entire floor into a disco tech or use some skydiving video footage ;)
🤣😂 I’m not sure but I’m definitely going to try and place some screens on the floor
very cool!!
The iron man portrait was priceless!! 😂😂 Omgg
can you draw on the wall with those?
I was really excited to see the captures with the helmet
this is what i want it for
Alotta money but as an android user I'm impressed does it have to be an iPhone or can it be used similar with like external display ?
I would love to see ZBrush support this or even Blender.
Where do you store the Vision Pro? Is it just sitting on a desk while not in use? Does it need a 3D-printed stand?😊😊😊
You would need a mannequin head to keep the Vision Pro on.
Thanks for showing it off, hopefully you can justify the purchase at some point :p IMO the quest 3 can do so much more already and having controllers allows for actions like pressure control. There’s dedicated apps like Adobe modeller etc. The Vision Pro is just a money grab for tech reviewers.
Jessy 2023: "You look with your Eyes" xD
One video related to Vision Pro which I liked
I’ve been holding off on getting one because that’s a lot of scratch without compelling reasons to spend it yet, but I’m pretty sure one of these is in my future. I mean, as it is now, I’d get *good* use from it. I have a small house and my office only has a window overlooking our neighbor’s house. Sticking a Wyze cam outside and putting a virtual window in my office would be a LOT cheaper, even with the cost of the Vision Pro, than putting a real window in here.
That said, I am very excited by the possibilities for sculpting apps, and it’s not too hard to imagine purely hand-based controls.
can u use procreate
You can make your own gestures in settings
8:43 Quest 3 has pressure control with poke handtracking anjd it even works in PCVR with Vitrural desktop.
Can you 3d scan with it ?
Not yet. Just a software upgrade away. So much potential to it. Apple should have had this at launch
I had this idea to design a back brace for the battery to mount on the back band, to counterweight it, but since I don't have one I can't 😢
Does it suffer from using it outdoors in bright sunlight like the Quest does?
it suffers from being a overpriced toy with little functionality.
All VR headsets have this problem at the moment. The AVP is no different when it comes to sunlight.
You should never take a VR headset outside. The lens can focus sunlight directly into the display LEDs and damage them.
@@mechadeka I used to take my Quest 1 on the deck in the morning to do my boxing game since there's more room to move. The sun would be behind the houses and wouldn't reach my deck until the afternoon.
@@Killswitch1411Stop crying for being poor and ignorant
Dude, you're a baller. I admire the hell out of how you always invest in the newest and best tech (Prusa XL, Bambu X1, now this!). Keep it up, I'm jealous... that thing will probably cost like $7K when it comes out in Israel.
would be good if the art app could detect what you were holding, IE spray can, pencil, air brush etc and change its own brush style to match.
Saying that it would be good if it had an overlay mode, so it could attach an image to paper or a wall so you could trace it out etc.
Do yall think apple are going to make a controller for hardcore gamer. What your thought on that? you probably thinking I was thinking about Bluetooth controller like the PS5 or Xbox I'm not but I'm actually talking about VR controller like quest 3
Probably not, but the usual “Apple third-party” accessories manufacturers might do so, if the volumes are there. Right now, only risk takers will make your VR controllers for Vision Pro, and probably charge a pretty penny for it.😮
9:49 Nomad Sculpt seems an obvious choice for upgrade for a true 3D vision OS app, as well as the Gravity Sketch which already exists on Quest, and in a flat version for iPad. (aha, you just mentioned it.) It's all about potential! at this early stage...
I bought an Apple Vision Pro and I’m going to write it off as office supplies.
ImmersedVR and Virtual Desktop will soon allow multiple virtual monitors from your Mac or pc. Having used those with a Quest Pro I can say it should be a great productivity device for when you really want to concentrate or just have too much reference material to fit on a regular monitor.
CAD could be significant, if changes to UI and interaction improve. Saw a video where teams participated in AR for issues related to wiring harness for Europa spacecraft, positioning and interferene with other equipment. Various teams were in different locations, thus the need to participate remotely and in AR. I can see this could be groundbreaking if these devices continue to improve. As Jessy indicates, sculpting isn't as precise compared to working on iPad - will this change? If it does, wow, brave new world stuff.
So you're not going to be rockin' ZBrush with this?
I can't find a video of someone using their mac with a wacom and the vision pro, that's the only reason I would consider buying it and I think there are many ppl in the same shoe as me.
it would be cool if apps such as nomad or zbrush make option to view model through vision while working on ipad/mac like second monitor
As lot of people I was sceptic. But when you try it on its insane. The feel you get by watching this video is just 20% of what you can do with it. Its a new way to look at video content.
Movies will be super realistic. If can make you feel you are there. Make it lighter Apple
I want to see you drop it.. 😃
I’d like to see what he future of 3D modeling could be on this. I’ll hold off for now. As awesome as it looks I can’t justify paying that much for something in Beta with limited apps.
The moment you can use the ipad pro in the vp like you can with the mac, Ill shell out the money for it. Being able to draw while in virtual spaces is a dream
I love it! Waiting for a video like this about the Vision Pro
If someone puts out a way to effectively wrangle shapr3d on this Id be all over it. Thanks for sharing man!
i wonder if we will get DJI apps to not need to connect phones when flying, same with tesla, imagine replacing the center screen with holograms.
The AR reminded me a lot of the HoloLens.
Did a HoloLens demo years ago and was absolutely blown away by it. Sad to see it never took off
Putting on a vr headset to pull up a 3d app and work with it in a 2d space is hilarious.
As a graffiti artist I’m interested in using the Vision Pro to overlay dealings onto a wall to do outline work, but at almost $4k that will be an expensive theory to prove it works lol.
As an artist, if there is a sunglass style version, a light elite type, affordable, I don't care how many more years it takes but if NerveGear, FullDive or any other fictional VR into reality, I'm buying one! Not just to watch anime or use it for Discord but for DRAWING purposes! It'll become very handy!
Imagine another user can see what your doing.
Here's an idea for next update:
When at work or with friends
Friend Request option
Cooperative Sharing option
This way, when doing group tasks or wanting to show or share something, instead of air drop, they can share screens. It'll be awesome!
Re: 5:02 ... the difference in pass-through to Quest 3 for me is night and day. On Quest 3, I cannot read my phone or computer screens- which is possible through Vision Pro (not crystal clear but easily legible)
4 THOUSAND DOLLARS?! Uh, _NIEN!_
Guess i won't be getting one of these in the foreable future. Though I'm curious to see how it would fit with Blender (though i don't think you can get blender on the ipad either), that said it does look cool. How is the clearence for someone wearing glasses? Though considering i only need glasses for seeing things at a distance more more than 8 inches away, something thats right over my face shouldn't be a problem.
Non replaceable cable on the battery seems like a huge oversight (see: planned failure point) on it.
Cable can be removed with a paper clip like the old sim trays
If and when nomad sculpt comes to Vision Pro natively please cover that
Excellent video. So good to watch an AVP review that focuses on creative apps. With Nomad Sculpt, it would be better if the sphere and tools were free-floating instead of bound inside a window. And with Doodle, it would be great to draw in the air or on your wall instead of inside a window - or maybe view the window on a flat surface like your desk or floor and then draw on that. As of now, every review I've watched shows people playing around with the flat floating windows, hardly using anything 3-dimendional. The Polycam angel was cool. Can you edit the angel sculpture using your hands?
I'm hoping that developers start breaking away from the floating windows so the virtual elements will feel realistic and be interactive. With art apps, it's important for users to get their hands digitally "dirty" like they would in a real-life creative environment. Imagine an app that lets you blow glass by holding the Apple Pencil up to your mouth as a virtual blowpipe, and as you begin to blow, you can see the liquid glass bubble being formed before it hardens into glass... and if you "drop it," it "breaks" and you have to command-Z (undo) it to get it back. This is only the beginning. The AVP will get better over time.
Squirrel moment while You were positioning the angel statue.... Rack of comics? 👀
I've made 3D models in Adobe Medium with the Quest 2 and Quest 3 to then 3D print, but doing it effectively with handtracking would require a whole new app.
it would be awesome if they have VR homes where you can walk in new home and look around in it
WAAAY back when Vision Pro was announced, we DID ask Nomad’s developer in the forum if there’s any chance of a version for VP. Reply: “Don’t expect Nomad on it…” Would have loved to be able to encircle the model while sculpting, right hand to tumble the object, use a flat hand to smooth, sculpting pressure could be varied by how much the fingers splay out…
I think we will get better control once we can break free of the single window setup.. imagine tools scattered around rather then “desktop” mode.. Will be interesting to see hopefully soon what Zbrush for ios will look like..
Crazy to me how people can say the passthrough is not that much better than quest 3. It is SO much better its not even close.
Thanks for saving me $3500 lol. As someone who sculpts in VR specifically for 3d printing application, gravity sketch is really the best thing available for now but I'd love a full fledged 3d modeling and animation application for VR that can run on a standalone device, we're just not there yet.
just need a top gun helment now lol
5:58 Though NOT required or absolutely necessary, one could pair an input device to the VP.
13:02 Curious, considering an Mac Mini with comparable spec’s is about $1299, what would you price the R1 latency chip, the twelve cameras, all the sensors, and the two lenses. I would fathom at least another fifteen hundred, if not more…
🤔
Yes. I believe the raw bill of materials is close to $2000. Add shipping, etc, plus Apple’s 30 % profit margin, and not hard to get to $3500 MSRP.
Here comes the $100 add ons from Apple. Apple Vision Pro controllers $150. Vision Pro pen $100. Etc.. 😊😅
100 dollars is just the case, the controllers will be another 1000$
Imagine integrating this the iron helmet 😳
I think this cool but not something i can justify the cost, yet i believe this will help push competition in this field.
Take the window closer, it’s touchable
Funny. I've seen about 50+ videos from reviewers to amateurs, and not a single one said the pass thru was "Slightly better" than the quest 3. In fact, every single one of them said it was one of the many things the VP just destroyed the Q3. Interesting, isn't?
It's still just not justifiable for that price. Hopefully they will create better use cases soon
The lack of controllers for the Vision is very similar to the lack of a pen/pencil for the iPad. It’s a really big misstep by Apple for a device that was designed with productivity in mind. It’s seems useless without a real input device.
It’s literally 100x better than the quest 3 pass through, no warping, dude it’s not even close at all
Other then the 30% more rez I don't get why anyone should buy this over a Quest 3 which has not only better hand tracking and more of it but controllers too.
So I can do everything I can do on a monitor but expend a bunch more energy moving around doing it.
Hmmm...
One day everyone will wear these
Haha. Yeah its an awesome device but nowhere near the capabilities of a Quest 3 in link mode (or other windows HMD's) with controllers in a multitude of 3D sculpting apps. I imagine it will be some time before someone invests into an app for 3D sculpting in AR with the Vision Pro based solely on its user base and controller limitations. Love that you did this video though! Lately I'm really into an Adobe Modeler and Zbrush pipeline.... thats not happening with this. But...... in time!
Hmmmmm dope
Microsoft hololens is the better device by leaps and bounds and what it came out a decade ago?
It seems cool but I get first gen Apple Watch vibes from it. Once the novelty wears off, its design limitations will start to show like short battery life and being underpowered. If it wasn’t so expensive maybe I’d buy it, but I’d rather wait for a second pro version
something like shapr3d in actual 3d for 3d printing would be ace.
2:21 It's more like the top of the current level that will be replaced as soon as the next level comes out in a few years.
