that fact that a $3.5k headset and $500 headset are even close enough to be remotely comparable should tell you something in itself.

@@CarloGrams sounds like you’re salty that you wasted 3 and a half grand on a vr-iphone when you couldve gotten a quest 3, a very high end pc, and all the accessories you need for it, for the same price. oh and you also get the freedom to do what you want with what you paid for instead of being trapped in the apple ecosystem.

@@9_1.1 My man, I’m in production. I literally am required to use all kinds of platforms, from PC to Mac. You’re living in a reality where someone can’t have products from different brands. I enjoy my quest 3 for what it is. A gaming machine. And it hooks up to my rig when it’s time for SkyRim or No Mans Sky. Can I produce media for other entities using that setup? Yes. I can, and I have tried, and unless I’m willing to shell out another $8500 just for a Varjo headset to tether to my rig instead, it’s just an absolute abysmal experience using the Quest 3 to monitor a DAW or editing software where visual fidelity and color-accuracy are paramount. The AVP offers the same spec requirements as that Varjo headset at over half the cost. That’s the only reason why I ended up with one, so I can run productions like Tony Stark. Does this mean I stopped playing my Quest? No. You don’t need to prostrate your fealty to some company, just get what you like to use and what makes sense for what you’re trying to accomplish. We get it, the Vision Pro isn’t for you. That doesn’t mean you need to mutate into some Zuck-Cuck over it.

Yeah...the price definitely needs work, but I think it's meant to be a relatively exclusive device currently and they're using the premiums to cover development costs. What the Quest does is cool, and it's definitely a capable headset, but unless the software stack changed dramatically from 2 to 3 then I don't think they're anywhere close to parity with Apple.

Finally, an honest reviewer, who is not a greedy ios-sheep who are competing to $üç-áp deeper into the half-chewed Apple. I feel like that you are far more practical and financially responsible than MKBHD. People pay 3,5k for an excellent vr screen which doesn't have (data) ports, controllers and you will be forced to use only the ios ecosystem, which is smooth but constantly overpriced and the customers are constantly forced to upgrade the MacBooks and iPhones due to older ios devices are blocked working.
Okay, Windows and Android are also kind of rivals, but they learned to work together. More freedom less chains. Apple is like a cult, like Scientology: they try to chain you to their system and force you to pay more and more ... while trying to evade taxes every possible way and selling you overpriced products and denying warranty repairs and 3rd party repairs, too. If you, the reader, are rich, then continue supporting the greedy rich billionaire company. Their smooth and visually pretty ux is just a carrot for us, the donkeys.

That is like 10k or something. not including all the services. That is the part I just don't like about Apple they just try to wall you in so much. This thing looks freaking awesome and hope Quest can make something to compete with some of this stuff. I know quest 3 can already do alot of this and before Vision pro came out there were people going to coffee shops in the Quest. I have also had the HTC Vive, and for a short time the PSVR. Without even watching this video, I already know the answer for a 100% fact. The Quest 3 is a steal for $500 and you get everything you could ask for to game and run social and media apps. Apple Vision is for rich business people who want the latest and greatest in the new niche space of spatial computing or having a headset for a monitor. It is designed as a workspace to run all of your ipad apps, iphone apps or media in 2d just like on your regular devices except your 2d apps which stay 2d are in a 3d setting within the headset. It has the best quality passthrough on the market right now, but has zero software to make a purchase worth it. The Vision Pro is nice hardware but there is very little to no software that utilizes the hardware of the headset and your paying close to 4K with tax for the privilege, when the Quest 3 is 1/8 the price and can run both dedicated Quest 3 AAA Games and apps from the Oculus Meta store, but also connect to your PC to play PC VR games from the same store and also the Steam VR store. But if you owned every oculus headset, you should know how the quest 1 launched. Very few titles, not really a solution to use with pcvr, and meta was against it at first. also you should know about the company version of the quest 1, which had no spying and user data selling unlike the consumer version, and it had twice the price. When the Quest 1 first launched It already had a lot of games and apps most of which were ports from both the Rift CV1 and the Oculus Go which I both owned. What sucked was not lack of content but having to repurchase content I already owned on the other Oculus headsets since they each had their own separate store. But your comparison is moot as the Quest 1 was around $300 if I remember correctly which was very affordable but the 4K for the Vision Pro with next to no software at present and gaming not at all on the horizon and not something Apple is interested in pursuing, I ll stick with evil Meta for now. Yes, the Vision Pro more expensive then the quest 3, but didn’t sell your data. Have way better screen, speaker, performance. And it even got steam vr support so you can game if you are a kid who can only uses a computer for games. And I am also a quest 2-3 user. Had a quest 1 too. And just because you may have heard more reports about data leaks from FB doesn’t mean that Apple has had less, just that YOU haven’t heard as many. So that just means that Apple has had less as far as YOU know. But for $h!ts and giggles lets just say that your right and that in the past year Apple had 5 data leaks to Meta’s 10, does that change anything? A data breach is a data breach and all it takes is one. Apple which used to be small potatoes and not worth the time or effort of h@cking compared to Microsoft has now become one of the biggest companies in the world with at least half the worlds population as its user base, and are now a data base ripe for the picking, pun intended. The Bottom line is you don’t really know what Apple is doing with your data or who they may be sharing it with. You are only taking their word on it. The Vision Pro is essentially a first gen beta for rich folks who have money to burn, and anyone in the tech industry will tell you, it is a bad investment to purchase first gen tech as it is still in its infancy, it doesn’t have the support or content from devs in regards to software and will be replaced by a much improved and superior model by the time the software and apps start catching up. So by the time there is enough decent software for the Vision Pro, the Vision Pro 2 will be on the market and you will need to buy a new 4K headset. So far the Quest line of headsets have all been backwards compatible and upgrading to a $500 headset is way less painful than upgrading to a 4K headset each generation. Oh and you will notice companies like Google, TH-cam, and Netflix to name but a few have declined having any dedicated apps for the Vision Pro, as it currently isn’t worth their time or investment.

When I buy a headset today, I'm interested in what I can do with it NOW, what apps are available for it NOW and how much fun I can have with it NOW. With the Visison Pro, I keep hearing "It will definitely be able to do that at some point. At some point you'll get that for the Vision Pro too" Okay, then you can wait until the Vision Pro actually has it and can do it. I don't have to spend a lot of money now and then wait for what I want to come at some point or never. I'd rather buy a Quest 3 for which there is a lot of software and which has so many users that I can actually have fun with it in a community in VR and have social experiences. The Vision Pro, on the other hand, is more of a first-person headset in which you are very much alone, which socially excludes you instead of enabling new social contacts like the Quest 3 can.

As a Quest 3 user for 2 months, I have beat saber sessions that lasts from half an hour to even 1.5 hours per day for almost every day (2 hours and above during a cold day and I got a type-c charging cable running under my clothes to the headset so that my hands don't yank the cable), and I take it off whenever I felt the cushion is too soaked up with sweat. That stock head strap served me decently well, and I honestly still have no need to upgrade.

  • @adseigo
    @adseigo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The problem is, while they may have the processing power, the Vision Pro limits itself in the input method they have chosen. Rather than using a more tactile hand tracking approach, they're essentially using your hand as a 3D mouse that's still disconnected from what you're doing in each app. I saw some videos of this being used in art and modeling software and it feels like a giant missed opportunity compared to similar apps already available on the Quest platform. Apple is going to have to reconsider how they handle their inputs for this type of device. They're already extremely limiting their options in both gaming and productivity, which kind of makes you wonder who is going to benefit from this enough to justify paying 7x the cost of devices that may be weaker and have a lower resolution, but have the capacity to offer the tactile feel that those markets benefit from. Graphics and processing power aren't going to be what drives the shift to "spacial computing", it will be the methods we use to close the gaps between the virtual and real environments. How we physically interact with the virtual is going to be one of the biggest determining factors in how practical and beneficial it will be to work in these environments. You want that to feel as natural as using physical media and tools and Apple simply doesn't deliver on that. Maybe moving forward they'll reconsider, but for now, they're still lagging behind.

Remember, the quest was made for the average person to get wide adoption at an affordable price, so they had to cut back on some things. Apple is at a high end price point and trying to compete with a $500 headset. They are two different types of headset for two different types of people. The vision pro should be compared to the high end VR headsets. The reason the quest sells so well is because it allows the average person to enter VR.

If meta wants to compete with the vision pro, they should release a quest 3 pro. similar to their first pro head set(which flopped hard) , better displays and a better processor with built in features like eye tracking. the quest line was always meant to be an affordable option for people to enter vr and the "metaverse" while their pro line up was targeted at businesses and professionals.

The Meta Quest 3 is a VR gaming console, while the  Vision Pro is a stand alone spatial COMPUTER comparable to an iPad Pro with significantly better cameras for 4K immersive capture. Plus you can see your actual environment through the lenses…
If I had purchased an Studio Display with tilt and height adjustment, it would have cost over $2K, and a coupe of good quality monitors to flank it, I would have spend another five to seven hundred for each for a total of $3,000 - $3,400. Two  Studio Displays would have cost over $4K, and three would have cost over $6K…
The  Vision Pro was well worth the price (1TB | Battery | VP Case | plus another Light Seal), and thus far having a great time exploring the possibilities. The Apple Vision Pro design is better looking but very very fragile as you can stracth the glass on the outside with a level 3 stratcher which makes it very fragile and yeah the screens are better but it has a lower field if view so you'll see less anyway lool plus I have the PSVR2 and that display is also incredible as it's a Sony display which is probably 1 step down from the Vision Pro as in its the 1st display to offer HDR that actually burns your eyes sometimes if your playing a game which has strong colours and sun flair effects etc and it also has eye tracking and a feature nonothwr headset has and that's the headset rumble so playing VR games is the best you can get in terms of immersion and actually feeling like your right there but for other things like watching TH-cam playing Mixed Reality games and producing music in Mixed Reality which Apple missed the mark in as they should have made Logic Pro X for this headset where you could have instruments and devices in Mixed Reality so you could have your virtual recording Studio anywhere in any environment like I can with my Quest 3 but apple decided not to put a headphone jack on the headset 😂😂😂 and I actually use my Quest 3 with my Apple products everyday and I don't have to spend $3,500 just to that

Apple price their products outrageously claiming its premium. The annoying part is that, Apple does not optimize their software and Apps. These occupy thorn of spaces on the devices. Especially, videos, 5 minutes video can take 2GB space

you forgot to mention the pcvr
if the reasons has a weight, being able to use PC-VR weighs a ton, it is a whole new platform, you play quality things with your *PC hardware* and i mean vr again
you can't do that in vision pro, the moment i knew that, it was a insta drop for me, mostly for gaming uses..
u can install literally any android app, but not directly tho, u need a pc
even psp or gamecube emulators, also gamepass can be installed on standalone q3
things to mention on the quest side
-there is also a office apps for android that works well
-bigscreen to see movies or local videos with friends or unkown ppl
-gravity sketch to draw 3d maps, or models
-sculp app for 3d modeling like blender etc
-native netflix, youtube, whatsapp on vr
-u can see 3d videos on any video player
-ar experiences like the dinosaur quest have a ton, the quest demo of shooting aliens, from put monsters or enemys to kill on your house to put aquariums on your walls, window etc...
vr windows in ar env and viseversa like the lego game..... coperative ar minigames with a friend close to your or not if u want table games or smthg, u can leave Widgets arround your house like the vision pro
-pianovision to play your real midi piano like a rythm game and learn it meanwhile
and all that is not a "promise" but something that u can do right now, and just for 500 euro
i experienced that promise situation 3 times and u can be sure that those promising apps will arrive the next gen of vision pro if u are lucky, and when they finally come out u will bored realy fast
    about the vision pro
vision pro has better quality and hardware, no one can deny that, but that hardware is just air bcuz the visor totally dont use it, the only new aside of the screen quality and ecosystem is the eye tracking, and just the way of use it bc quest pro has that too, everything else u see there is already normal on quest since years ago
ppl on youtube are so boring with thier vision pro that they just walk arround putting youtube screens and open and closing the menu, i still didnt see any video of someone truly enjoying thier vision pro, like using it for real...
the hype is making ppl missusing the vision pro, is not for take outside, the lenses can focus the sunlight and burn the micropixels,
they are expecting something like ready player one but thats not the reality, vision pro is a consumer product to use in house too
u can use for work, but it isnt more convenient that a normal plane screen, it isnt more productive just bc u have multitasking, thats more distractive in fact,
even worse since is heavy for use in long periods and give pain in the eyes even if the screens are amazing, ofc its not for use 8hours everyday
i had to remember u that meta was also aiming to be a visor for work, but thats just dosnt work, and it naturally slowly turns into a gaming visor..
i wonder if that will be the case with the vision pro.... but it dosnt have controllers, the vision hand tracking is a little better that the q3 one, but still not realiable, play with your eyes i see that hard..
maybe it will turn into a expensive screen to play plane games and videos
avp is a 1:1 copy of the meta mirror lake prototype from 1y ago

I like your video and the way you talk about it. I bought a Quest3 and am happy with it. I use it so much more than my Quest2 and even a lot more than my Pico4. The Vision Pro seems to have a plastic front and not a glass front... so apart from smudges, maybe over time, it will be full of scratches. We'll see in a few months how it all works out.
Just got the update 62 for my Quest and again a major improvement.
But anyway I would love to try a Vision Pro... just to see that dinosaur popping out of the screen. Would that be possible with the Quest, now we can see those spatial 3D videos in the Quest3 as well?

  • @adamvictor9124
    @adamvictor9124 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The success of vision pro long term depends on the price because not many people will shell out 3500. And less people using it means less incentive to develop apps. Quest while not as polished can still improve with software updates and with apple as competition I think their next generation will be killer. When it comes to value it’s obviously the quest.

Woah, seeing Apple Vision Pro makes me think back to when I was a teenager watching "Minority Report" for the first time. Tom Cruise manipulating screens in the air, switching, stretching, and maximizing them - it all seemed like pure sci-fi fantasy! Fast forward to today, and Apple Vision Pro makes it feel so natural. It's incredible how technology has evolved to catch up with our imaginations. This is truly a game-changer, and I can't wait to see what the future holds with spatial computing!
but to be honest it's absolutely not for me it's only first version and so expensive and as you mention not comfortable , will wait for the near future the competition between the companies to see more advanced versions & features and of course cheaper price and less weight & size.

at around 1080p resolution, since the quest 3 cannot really show you more pixels, and even that pixels arent as sharp as a real 1080p monitor because the displayes are in an angle to make the FoV bigger.

For me, a VR headset is nothing but a display that I strap on my head for a specific game or such. I will not have any headset on my head for every day usages like email, documents or watching a YT video.
This means that a PS4 headset or a Quest 3 on PC is the absolute max I need and what I pay for. Apple's $3500 headset might be awesome with a "it's all different" qualifier next to it. It however is completely useless for my VR needs (wants).

This is interesting. Still, I believe for some of us, PCVR is one of the most important uses of such a device, and the Apple Vision apparently cannot work on that scenario... so for those PC players that already have good GPUs, then it's not even a contest: one works, the other doesn't.
