I’ll say this about the originals vs prequels, the originals are so much better in the lego games, especially the original, original levels before the skywalker saga lego game. But the lego star wars clone wars game is fun as well, and I kinda like the force awakens game as well, simply cause it’s very relaxing to explore the vast different planets, while listening to the ambient music in the background, the gameplay and story, of course, isn’t the fun part of that game.

I've watched a number of Star Wars: A New Hope reactions recently and the idea that there are so many people out there who've never seen it is starting to make me feel old. The file came out when I was 10 years old and as I grew up almost everyone in that generation and the majority in generations either side had seen it; the number of people around now who haven't just feels odd.

The original triology is just unmatched in LEGO gaming form, the prequels and sequels never worked well in LEGO, clone wars is just fun to play, and force awakens is only good for walking around the big open worlds and listening to the music.

I was 13 Years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre. It was originally just called Star Wars because George Lucas did not know if he would be allowed to show more Episodes, It was renumbered Episode IV in 1980 when Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Those Movies were the Middle part of the Three Trilogies he wanted to do. The Special Effects were ahead of its time.

Wow I just heard say there's more cgi and another say it use to look worse before, like a knife to the heart. I will never forgive them for not just remastering or cleaning up the image with out adding all the cgi. I literally bought the first release of Star Wars series on DVD (had the vhs set before) because I wanted the original cut of the movie, I get mad every time I watch this version. Also this reinforces that the movies need to be watched in release order when viewing for the first time. I also used to watch these movies with my dad (before the special cgi revision ever happened) he passed a way when I was 7 but when I watch them it always makes me think of those times we watched together.

If they made the cgi seamless, like it could have been part of the original release in 1977, it might be fine. But they didn't, it's quite obvious cgi added later, sticks out like a sore thumb.
To do that, they have to add the right amount of from grain etc etc. If you want to see this done perfectly, check out the director's cut of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. In 1979, the movie was released in an incomplete state because they fell behind. So 20 years later, they fixed numerous problems with the fx.
The difference is, they made the new fx match the film stock of the original. They also didn't add anything that wasn't planned and feasible in the late 70s.

Well I saw this in 77 at 11 years old. We walked into it knowing nothing and thought it was just a one time stand alone movie. I can remember in about 79 my parents friends bringing up that star wars was something called episode IV and being confused what that meant. My dad actually had a bootlegged vhs copy of it (almost wore that tape out) but it only had "Star Wars" for the opening, no "episode IV" which left us still confused. We assumed it would simply be the beinging of the over all story and any more movies should simply be parts II and III and so forth.

Fast forward 33 times over the next year… I saw it a bit. Have 1 of the stubs and the 33 (vinyl) soundtrack EP that was sold at the theater then. Same thing for all my OG action figures, including the mail away Boba Fett pre-Empire.
I was 7-8 at the time and needless to say, it was one of THE defining parts of my childhood. That and MTV are probably the most impactful things that made us who we are. Well, and that whole Soviet Union Cold War thing, but that’s made a comeback so y’all get to experience it first hand.

20:11 technically Obi Wan never did own R2-D2 or C-3PO. R2-D2 first belonged to Padame and then Anakin while C-3PO first belonged to Anakin and then to both of them while they were married. They both then belonged to Captain Antilles of the Tantive VI, the ship Leia tried to escape in and that Vader captured at the start of the movie.

11:19 That's actually a good theory. I always figured they knew Leia was both a senator a high-ranking rebel, a valuable hostage with valuable intel, like the location of The Rebel Base.
31:52 - "why there's a cut" Plan A was that the lightsaber blade was plastic wrapped in reflective tape. When it "ignites" a prop guy actually swaps out the hilt with an "ignited" lightsaber. The results were less than what they hoped for and animating the blades in post turned out to be a simple effective solution (and they could make them different colors!)
Later, in the Death Star, Obi-wan "ignites" his blade by starting out with the blade pointed directly toward camera so you can't see that the blade is there. He then turns it so you can see the blade from the side

In 1977 there was no CGI. The dialog makes the Kenobi vs Vader fight epic. Not CGI, nor speed, nor flash. Any kid from the 70s or 80s can quote that entire fight from the ‘You should not have come back…’. Think about the fact that the original audience had to wait YEARS between films to find out what happened next. Han always shoots first (no matter what later editions claim). Wedge is awesome. Your analysis was fun and thought provoking (except for the beating the dead Bantha of the mediocre D+ series).

If you guys are TRULY dedicated 'Star Wars' Nerds, then you definitely need to check out the National Public Radio Audiodrama versions of the OT. (Released in 1980, 1983 and 1996, respectively) Considering the limitations of audio tech from the era, at least the first two, they are very evocative & from an audio effects standpoint, are as good as the films.
The performances are excellent, though very few of the original actors return. Mark Hamill & Anthony Daniels being the only ones. But the acting is good enough that that ceases to be an issue before long. One small bit that is far better than the film is that when Leia's entire Homeworld is destroyed, she actually SOUNDS like someone who has had their entire life ripped from them. They also 'show' her being tortured and that's well done enough it might be triggering for some.
But the best thing about those adaptions (and until Disney... uh... 'changed' things, they were considered Canon), is that they have tons of extra story that was not in the films. From Scenes that take place before the movies and many other bits that enhance our understanding of events. And that only makes sense, as the adaption of 'A New Hope' is NINE HOURS long.

His costume boots were brutally tight, and the budget did not allow him to have boots for a better fit, so, he was not wearing shoes in some of the shots where you don't see his knees .

@@PatriaPrimumWatching A New Hope already knowing that Vader, Luke, and Leila are related steals the magic out of the film. The reason A New Hope was so amazing for so many decades is because of the mystery of these random characters suddenly thrust upon us. A strange masked man dressed in black, a princess on some mission, and a farm boy on a desert planet. The mystery of it all was so intriguing. Watching chronological order definitely steals the thunder from 4 and 5. And the redemption of Darth Vader was so powerful to me growing up. I never needed prequels to feel the magnitude of Luke and Anakin talking face to face before the Death Star blowing up.

Obviously, Wedge's X-Wing was going to lose power / acceleration. Imagine if he 'tried' to speed up? Either he had already lost the power to keep up at the speed Luke and Biggs were flying or, with the damage inflicted on his craft, he'd probably end up blowing his fighter's power generator and end up in a billion galactic molecules. I'm pretty sure destroying the ship is not a realistic option because there is no guarantee that small of an item would be obliterated in the explosion. There would be a high chance the disk would survive the ship destruction and be lost to space and or picked up by smuggler or even the Rebels if the Empire could not locate. Its allot easier to just capture the ship an search/interrogate to locate the plans exact location.
But the diplomatic consideration is also there. They were above a planet so the planet's population would be witness to whatever the Empire did and a ship destruction would have then been broadcasted to the Hollonet.

      @irvinstafford7780 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I totally agree that it was a diplomatic consideration. In just a few scenes, a momentus thing in the galactic political landscape is discussed, even though it made little difference to us watching it in 1977: The Emperor has disbanded the Senate, and now the regional governors (Tarkin) will have direct control over their territories. Remember, in the very first sequence, Vader is having to be careful that his actions don't get out and create sympathy for the rebels in the Senate. He even comes up with a cover story. During the Imperial period from the end of EPIII till this movie, it was thought that the Empire couldn't function without the bureaucracy of the Senate, now called the Imperial Senate. We see that in Bad Batch, Palpatine still have to make speeches to the senate to keep his voting block in line. If they'd been pursuing the Death Star plans only a few days later, thy might've just destroyed the Tantive VI.

Nice to see this reaction, Gentlemen. Yes, Wyatt...I get what you're saying and feeling. The first and still the best. Watching your reaction, right after seeing the 7th episode of Ahsoka. The parallels are there...C-3P0 is still assisting Princess Leia...R5-D4's story is still unfolding...I can't wait for the day that R2-D2 meets R5-D4 again...hopefully, We'll get confirmation that they both spoke of R2's mission, over 10 years ago. Now, at some point within The Mandoverse, I think We need to see The New Republic Senate at work, on Coruscant. I hope Riyo Chuchi is still there, in some capacity; unless she's become Governor Of, or Representative For, Pantora, over the last 30 years. Yes, nearly 50 years later in the I.P., and the legacy of Lord Darth Vader still casts a strong shadow in The SWU; esp. within Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni's pocket universe, set 5 years after The Original Trilogy...

@@RaggedyPack My feeling is: Thrawn, once returning to the known galaxy, will hide out deep within The Outer Rim and The Unknown Regions (where planets like Tatooine, Naboo, Dalna, Batuu, and Mandalore are situated), taking his time to mass the disparate parts of what remains of The Empire. I'm still hoping that, somewhere in all of this, the yet-to-be-seen New Republic Special Forces, inc. Agent Cara Dune (come on, Disney, wake up from your cultural crusadery!), discover some of what's going on out there, along with evidence of the existence of The Acolytes Of The Beyond; which would add quite an interesting wrinkle to the conflicts, intrigues, mysteries, crimes, and preternatural evildoing that seem to be stirring and brewing within BOTH galaxies. And, this is very much what Mr. Lucas had in mind for the time period just after The Original Trilogy. Thankfully, Jon, Dave, and their creative team of collaborators are staying true to The Maker's wishes. If only We could see Lucas' already written TV series, Star Wars: Underworld get greenlit, and made a major feature on Disney +, in the near future.
I had SOME issues with the execution of episode 7, but liked it for the most part. I''m sure that, if We had more time, We would've seen more interaction between Ezra and Sabine, and Baylan and Shin, respectively. The fact that these creators have to contend with an 8-episode structure, affects some of the storytelling beats. Now, why Ahsoka couldn't have been given 10 episodes, or even the 12 that Andor received, is beyond me. Plus, the forced, intentional cancellation of Rangers Of The New Republic, REALLY affected the storytelling (esp. the dramatization of The New Republic) for a substantial portion of The Mandoverse, altering Jon and Dave's original plan, and messing up the depiction of the timeline for some of the action, overall. Another thing that affected it, is the partial loss of The Mandalorian Publishing Campaign, which was supposed to occur between the live-action releases of The Book Of Boba Fett and ROTNR, and was supposed to feature an original The Mandalorian novel (as its centerpiece) by Adam Christopher (Shadows Of The Sith), which seemed to take place between Season 2 and Season 3 of The Mandalorian, setting up certain key factors in both the pasts and presents of the major characters in the growing saga. I believe Marshal Carasynthia Dune was to be featured in the novel; which may have contributed to its cancellation (thanks, Kathy), along w/ the fear that the book could overtake that sales and excitement for The High Republic Initiative.
I still think the final episode of Ahsoka is going to be something of a shocker and a game-changer in The SWU, overall. Take care. MTFBWY...

11:19 Vader doesn't know that Leia is his daughter until Return of The Jedi when Luke fights him in the presence of the emperor. Luke's feelings were easily read by Vader. Threatening his sister was what pissed Luke off defeating Vader but almost converting him to the dark side.

A lot of people completely miss the fact that the stormtroopers in the SD had orders to let them go. They were missing on purpose. They had no orders to spare the Jawas, hence the accurate shots. This led people that weren't paying attention to the erroneous conclusion that troopers are lousy shots. Spoilers for the rest of the OT:
In fact, the same could be said for the troopers in every instance where they are shooting at the main cast. On Bespin, they wanted Luke alive, so the troopers missed. They sabotaged the Falcon's drive so they could capture them alive, the troopers missed them too. On Endor, Vader and the Emperor wanted Luke alive, the troopers missed.

Speaking of the Original Trilogy, my Wife is an Animation Director for Family Guy, and their parodies of these films ('Blue Harvest') always makes me upset. Not because they aren't well done, but because they ARE.
Those episodes show what she & her crew could REALLY do when allowed to. It's one of the biggest tragedies in American Animation that we still, after 100 years of it, have a 'Trix are for Kids' mindset. Unlike nations like Japan, we just can't have beautiful, well-animated ADULT (Meaning Mature, not 'Adult') creations. The only kind of adult cartoons we have here are crude, ugly, vulgar comedy shows like 'Family Guy' and 'Southpark'.
It's such a waste of talent. I see what people like my Wife CAN make, then I see what our culture expects & it's just sad. Very, very sad.
