    "I don't know why they'd land so far away".
    You don't land near the (possibly) hostile target so that you can ensure that you don't come under fire from it. Nor can you be ambushed as soon as you land. Airborne missions today generally don't land right on top of the target.

    As a huge fan of both Star Wars and Halo, I'm glad you guys mentioned the parallel between Rogue One and Reach. Not only do both stories revolve around a team of individuals who ultimately sacrifice themselves in order to deliver a package of vital importance to the war (the Death Star plans vs Cortana), but they both lead right into their respective original trilogies. In both cases, the heroes die, the planet burns, and a single fleeting ship escapes with the package while being pursued by a villain who later becomes the anti-hero (Darth Vader vs Arbiter).
    Keep up the fantastic content and discussion!

    I am German, 62 years old and have been a fan of the films since 1977 (A New Hope). I no longer believed it was possible for Star Wars to return to its roots.
    A plot in which all heroes die without exception, and none of them suddenly come back using some cheap trick.
    An action that is determined by reality and not some pipe dreams. Dead is and remains dead. The question is how far the “heroes” will go to carry out their tasks. .
    Everyone is clear about it. what is the consequence that results from one's own actions. It's all or nothing.
    An outstanding film with very, very good actors. I didn't believe that Disney of all people could pull off this feat. Luckily, I was absolutely wrong. A film that wasn't made for the bubble-gum audience. The one who expects a happy ending with a final award of a medal and a longing look,
    Fortunately, you will be massively disappointed. At the end our friend Darth Vader appears and shows everyone what he is, a merciless killer.

    Some of the Star Wars novels actually makes Rogue One even more interesting. For example, in the novel Lost Stars, it’s shown that Tarkin was warned about the issue with the Death Star by a report from a young Imperial cadet/graduate but he dismissed it due to arrogance. Also the novel Catalyst shows that Tarkin and Krennic have been trying to outdo each other for years with their rivalry and each trying to screw over each other, so it makes Tarkin’s victory all the more sweet.

    • @phueal
      @phueal 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He dismisses is in A New Hope as well. I can't remember the exact quote, but an underling says to him something like "we've analysed their attack pattern and there is a vulnerability, should we withdraw?" and Tarkin responds with something like "In our moment of triumph!? No!"

Alan Tudyk (K-2SO) improvised the slap on the spot and didn’t tell anyone beforehand. Yes, K-2SO is actually an all digital replacement. Alan Tudyk was on set in a track motion suit.

    What makes this Hammerhead-Scene even better is that I think it is confirmed that the Hammerhead they used is the same the Ghost-Crew "took" in Season 2 to add to Phoenix Squadron. We at least know that one of the three original Hammerheads from Season 2 made it all the way to the moment Phoenix Squadron got merged into Mon Mothma's Rebel Alliance
    Other Rebels Connections you might now (or not)
    1. Whenever we see Yavin IV the Ghost is parking there and actually visible in multiple shots. They already made a model of the Ghost that is usable for live action for Rogue One and I am pretty sure they use that exact model modified slightly for Ahsoka as well
    2. As you actually heard even in the reaction they call General Syndulla in the Rebels Headquarters
    3. In one shot Chopper (C1-10P) is rolling in the background at the left side of the screen, grumbling as usual
    4. When Bail Organa leaves to go to Alderan you can hear him start taking to Wedge (Captain Antilles)
    5. During the Battle of Scarif the Ghost did help (most likely with multiple Rebels Characters flying. I am honestly not sure in what State Hera is considering she either just had a Baby or is about to have one but I myself believe that at least Rex, Zeb, Chopper and maybe Kallus are on board that ship)
    That she all the most obvious connections I can think of right now. As you probably know Rogue One came out while Rebels Season 3 was released so this is actually somewhat impressive coordination, especially since there are also a lot of connections in Rebels to Rogue One. It certainly shows that both Rebels and Rogue One (even with all it's reshoots) were planned very well
    Also, now that I have done it and talked about the beloved SW-Projects I will also say:
    Though I do not like everything from "The Last Jedi" I actually do think it is a good SW-Movie with some actually really good ideas (especially somewhat breaking the tradition of "everyone has to be related"). I also believe it is not the directors fault for the downfall of the sequels. Their problem was a general lack of Plans what all 3 movies would have as a overarching story.
    So, now I have made myself liked and hated at the same time which based on what I have learned most of the times means that all people simply hate me 😂

      @@BogeyTheBear As far as I understand it, that is actually the same person. They rescued him from a Tie-Fighter Training Academy (because he wanted out) and then he flew for the rebellion (for Phoenix Squadron the first few years).
      He slowly got higher ranked throughout the years and fought in most of the battles (Battle of Lethal, Battle of Scarif, Battle of Yavin, Battle of Endor)
      But yeah, another character that gets Background though Rebels, but more for the main trilogy as he is not really in Rogue One at all, except a single mention

    ROGUE One has the best cast of any Star Wars movie (and I love the OG and even some of the prequel cast) the actors are just at a different calibre and the tone is so right all throughout. the cinematography and directing is gritty but the most full of life for the series I think. some cgi choices, ie actor replacements are... questionable but I chose to blame Disney for those 😂
    THE CAST IS SO GOOD!!

    • @lilyr875
      @lilyr875 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      and another thing! (lol need to rant about this movie some more sorry) the passion poured into this one is so impressive especially when you compare it to the problem the sequel trilogy has with lackluster pandering. the themes are so effective because the characters are active in the warfare going on, fighting for what's right despite it being impossible and taking so much moral fortitude to continue on throughout is so... just cinematic.
      it kind of benefits so much from the context of one, almost throwaway, line from the OG trilogy about what they achieve that even despite knowing that they succeed the tension is still so high. the respect given to each ones struggles and then unfortunate martyring is kind of beautiful idk.
      the set pieces, the set design/costumes, the soundtrack the spectacle (Darth Vader being a drama King of course) of it all is just such a feast and coupled with the script and performances, it's so good.
      and the fact that even little bits of Star Wars culture are woven in so naturally in a way that builds the world instead of like a nudge of "see we added that dorky sh*t you liked from other movies", like the little games, alien culture, tech, lore etc make this movie stand out so much. kind of the opposite vibe to Solo basically, that movie has essentially no stakes, a lack of reverence, wasted cast and studio interference that ruined it completely - how do you have Thandie Newton and Woody Harrelson as a mercenary style couple and mess up?! 🙄 anyway Rogue One is cool.
      and "what is she proposing" is such a hilarious moment, I quoted it so much after seeing it lol I love the way you guys always pick up on all the moments like that 😂

    P.s. I think the Death Star did target the base on Scarif directly and thats why it hit the dish but the targeting computer on the first Death Star isn't that accurate but to hit them it always only needs to shot in the general direction of its targets anyway. :)

    The movie having to explain "the flaw" in the death star actually bothered me. Firstly, any kind of reactor that can power a station that big would be volatile. Second, an exhaust port to vent escaping heat from a reactor is just physics. Thirdly, the flaw of the death star is the same flaw in the Empire, the hubris in thinking we are so big and powerful we can't lose and have no weaknesses. It already made sense and didn't need an actor to create "the flaw".

    • @jamesmarciel5237
      @jamesmarciel5237 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree with most of what you say. However your comment on the size of the reactor causing it to be unstable, isn’t exactly correct. You have to remember Star Wars is Science Fantasy. They do have items which do break laws of physics as we understand them. We currently cannot travel faster than light, people in SW can. We do not have “bacta” that can heal people’s wounds by submerging them in it. We currently don’t have light sabers.
      It is like the mistaken approach to the ISD and SSD debate. Since the ISD is named as a “Destroyer” that means that the SSD must be a dreadnought because it is much bigger. But in the Star Wars universe, there are “cruisers” that are smaller than Destroyers. The “destroyer” in the ISD name isn’t a classification, it’s is a colloquial description of its power. As in it is powerful enough to “destroy a star” by itself.
      You argument that a reactor powerful enough to operate the Death Star would inherently be unstable is applying our current understanding to an item in a universe that has many items whose existence and/or operation is currently beyond our comprehension. Just as Galileo changed the way of thinking about the structure of our universe. Same as Einstein changing the way of thinking about physics with his theory of relativity. You are applying our understanding of physics to a universe that has an understanding of such things that is beyond ours.

    Andor is clearly the best Disney product ever. I say because u said Rogue One is. Yeah Rogue One is great and allowed Andor to exist, but Andor is genuine anti facist art and Disney will probably never top the artistic integrity and heart of Andor. I thought Rogue One fans broadly agreed on this

    Ok don't hate me. When I saw this movie in theaters, I didn't like it. My Star Wars SUPER fan friend had to explain it more to me. I got the bridge to A New Hope but I was pissed because all our characters died. After the explanation and once it was available at home in UHD I watched it again and then again and then again and WOW first of all the VFX were outstanding. The movie is so good and I have come to place it as a top 5 maybe top 3 Star Wars movies. Carrie our Carrie!
