- Just a few tips on how I keep safe while van dwelling.
Forgive my awkwardness, I think the heat was getting to my head.
PS i mentioned that I keep my pepper spray next to me at night. It's true I keep it at hands reach BUT PLEASE never use it in close spaces such as a van! You really don't want to do that :)

I'd add: Don't park where someone can block your exit with their vehicle. Sadly a woman calling for help in a built up area may be ignored but shouts of 'fire' will always draw a response.
That is so true about trusting your instincts/fealings....I have personal experiance with this 😊
Additional tip: Travel with a vicious attack mongrel named Odie.

Hi Marina, please be careful if you bring that pepper spray back to England. Pepper spray is almost completely banned in the UK. Its ownership, carry and use by common citizens is banned under Section 5(1)(b) of the FirearmsAct 1968. Believe it or not, in the UK pepper spray / CS Gas is considered a firearm and carries the same legal penalties as carrying a gun does!28 Aug 17
My mum almost got arrested because she carried pepper spray last year. We were so shocked because we're German and didn't know it was illegal.
No way, even I thought it was legal and I'm from England, UK. I think it's because you hear people talk about it the odd time to do with safety so you think oh OK it must be alrigh then. Thanks Derek..

I've heard somewhere that getting a marine air horn could be a good idea to deter curious beings (thugs and wildlife indiscriminately). You could call it the Marina Air Horn.

Hi marina just to make you aware you said that you sleep with the knife under your pillow or at your side in the UK that would be classed as a weapon and you have said as such on your video blog I think you should take this video blog down or change it as they say the knife is been used as a tool in your van but not as a weapon which you clearly stayed in your video

So I question you: Is It dificult for you put legends in Portuguese for us from Brasil? I love yours vídeos and your option of live and I would like to understand what you are saying. But If It is Very difficult for you, I understand.
Very good advice, especially being a lone attractive female traveller. I also do solo wild camping and it is a bit unnerving the first few times. You get used to certain noises after a while though.

If somebody grabs you from behind stamp as hard as you can on the top of one of their feet, try and spin around and use a knee to groin or elbow to face, basically a hard bone to a soft part! Hopefully you will never need to, but always good to have a plan. Stay safe darling. 😍😎

Hi Marina, love your videos, particularly the van ones but understand why you sold it. Can I also suggest, for your personal safety, something called a "Personal Attack Alarm". There are many different types but generally small enough to hold in your hand or handbag and they let out a very loud high-pitched sound which will not only scare off an attacker but also alert anyone else nearby to come to your aid. Another suggestion is a small can of hairspray in a handbag - for their eyes. You could carry these with you discreetly.
Whenever I find one of your videos that I haven’t seen before I make that noise that you make when you show us a bowl of your lovely food...
It’s sort of,”yumyumyumyumyum”(do I have a problem here?!) Plus that big knife....ooh scary.Great advice tho...keep super safe.Happy emoji.

In this time you had Odie with you, dog, very good alarm!!! And I understand you dont have a traditional caming car who is easy break up the door! Soo a dog is good alarm, next is too park in a camping for van if is possible. The third is too have bottle spray gas too defend you, its exist. Yes u say pepper spray, good. But I have one thing, have a fake pocket book with few coins on table and a smart phone which is destroy and if thief coming inside let him/ them take it. They think is this you use.🤣 I hear many stories thiefs use gas soo you falls in deep sleep before they break inside. Soo is best as u say close window before u go bed. Crazy bad world. Get a high powered flashlight .. with sos and strobe .. at least 400 lumens ..plus ..ok wear acme thundera whistle too 🐲❤️

I had my small van parked on a crescent street and not outside a house, not blocking anything and not contravening highway code. Someone called the police because it was apparently suspicious.
I wasn't sleeping or living in it. It was there for just over a week.
I'm quite sure that if I was a woman, it would not have raised "suspicion".
Too many people are idiots and can't mind their own business.

Hey Marina! Have you ever driven to lesser developed countries (Morocco, Ukraine, the Balkans etc.)? If so, do you see any differences regarding to safety? Love your videos!
Hi Thijs! I would love love love to drive to Morocco or the Balkans, but I haven't yet. I don't think it would be that much different from "more developed" countries, trusting your guts is the best safety method!
Stay away from Morocco. Couple of ladies got decapitated there.
If you are, stay near tourist areas. But I figure you probably don't like tourist areas.
Great video. Nice red dress. Funny, at 00:28, though not sure what 'loud' means but sounds like a swear word!.
For tip 1 'Start Local', I'd say, starting out is the worst experience as over time, you make changes to the car setup to work better with improvements. Really important to be able to sleep at full stretch or you might develop mental issues feeling like you live in a sardine can.
For tip 2 'Trust your instinct', I'd agree. For example, if a place looks nice i.e. lots of parks around or sports fields, but no cars anywhere, could be a place at night when undesirable people gather or walk through at night, which might attract police to your car as you look out of place
For tip 3 'Go Unnoticed': best to learn in advance if you sleep making noise like snoring or talking in your sleep, as if you do that will be hard to stay unnoticed. Also I agree, in the night parking spot don't be noticed - do your things like opening doors, getting water, light on in car, clean teeth etc all in a seperate location at least some blocks away (I call it a staging area)

May I recommend for self defence, that you get yourself a high powered tactical flash light (800+ lumens)? I worked in the security sector and from experience, a high powered flash light (with striking bezel) has been the one tool I could always deploy and feel safe with.
I now never leave home without one, nor does my partner.

Sono consigli estremamente saggi. Specialmente quello sull'istinto (a patto di averlo) 😉. In caso di emergenza suggerisco di avere sempre a portata di mano la chiave di accensione e lo spazio libero per saltare sul sedile guida e partire a razzo. Io come deterrente consiglio di installare anche una sirena di allarme e delle luci led lampeggianti di emergenza che si acquistano a pochi euro e possono essere installate all'interno dei finestrini in modo che possano essere viste da fuori. La sirena dovrebbe ovviamente essere posizionata all'esterno. Il tutto dev'essere azionabile con un pulsante sempre a portata di mano. Suggerisco inoltre di bloccare in qualche modo dall'interno almeno le porte scorrevoli laterali e il portellone posteriore ad esempio con delle cinghie. Il cellulare dev'essere sempre acceso e a portata di mano e soprattutto avere (ma non lo fa nessuno) un link sul desktop per la chiamata rapida di emergenza.
Cover your window, if you turn your lights because if someone want to get in your car. He afraid if your have 2 people in the van. Reverse so you can get away, and leave the key in.
If someone seem to be trying to break in you need time to get away so do this. This make it seem there 2 guys in the car, say her name Cathy go get the gun, say it loud. If they continue after say give me the gun. Usually they will think 2 people and gun and will run.

Look at someone in a car with the light on you can even see what race she is, but the hair type and she skinny structure, you can see more detail if your in the dark. Because your eyes pupil are more dilated like a camera iris. In manual you open the iris you or allow more light in and get a brite detail picture. But that depend where the light show, in front as reading show detail, behind you see a fine outline .
Just advise, don’t advertise your alone , keep them guess.
It’s mind games, cause i one send one guy threat running by acting as I reach in my glove box and ack with 2 hand I was loading a pistol and smile at him. 2 secound his eye came big and he was gone sanding I has a gun. LOL
Advise if your alone in a van and someone trying to break in, call your partner by name loud saying go get the gun, give me the gun, they will stop and think, there are 2 people and they got a gun. By then you can drive away.

Si tu veux être en sécurité pour la nuit, il existe en France un réseau pour camper en toute tranquillité pour la nuit. Des agriculteurs, des viticulteurs et autres proposent un lieu gratuit pour la nuit. Camping car, van, etc utilisent ses lieux à la place ds campings officiels. Le réseau c'est France Passion.

You will find with that beautyfull hair and stunning red dress it will be hard for you not to be noticed. Oh yes the knife was a bit of a shock.
Set some noise traps outside the van to know if someone is approaching. A short blade is better than a long one. A kerambit is ideal. That way; if a would be sexual attacker is bracing himself.. a good swipe with a kerambit, will certainly bring tears to his eyes.
Visit the local police station and let them know your route in advance. Safe journey.
JG Alegria; I knife is a lot harder to grab off someone than a torch. It will also temporarily/permanently negate that threat, as opposed to dazzle for a few seconds.
JG Alegria ; I hope you never are approached by someone with bad intent, but I’d urge you to not use a torch. You’d buy yourself a second or two at the most. As a man.. I can assure you if someone was able to get a lucky cut somewhere I’d prefer not to mention; that would stop me in my tracks. There are also multiple opportunities/targets to get lucky with, not just the 3 piece suite.
