UC Irvine has been one of those programs that has good regular seasons and wins their league a lot but usually loses in their own conference tournament and ends up in the NIT. Nice to see them finally get their moment in the Big Dance because they've been a successful program for the past decade.

I told my math teacher, who was a Kansas State grad way back that UC Irvine would stun them. She looked at me funny again and told me this after class, if Irvine stuns them, you and the people that chose them get no homework for the week and get a 100 for the moment. Then, her turn was the worst. If I was wrong, I had to serve a detention with athletic punishment. In the finish, I was indeed the winner of such a deal. You'll understand whether you're familiar with the place.
Those teams will get you, for sure. I remember paying attention to UNI when they went like 29-4 30-4 something like that because my girl's parents are alums. When I saw them on the 8/9 in KUs region I did not feel good at all lol

Saw irvine in championship game. Watched 3 possesions. In first half. Could tell this team is a team. Watched 2nd half. This is a well coached an well rounded club. Think loyola with size. Can beat any team if they play their game.

Another bust to my bracket. I wonder if there'll be any repercussions for Bruce Weber? There's has been, still is & for any near future, will be parity in college basketball. Watching these games IMO these "dogs" are much better than how they are ranked. In other words, it's not (always) the surprise/upset it appears to be. And the favorite often (but not always) plays as expected. The dogs are under-rated in many cases.
Why does it seem like they gave AS MANY California teams home games as they could where is the logic in making a 4 seed from a power conf go out and play some California team in a virtual home game its like they are setting them up for a cinderella run. This tourney is so rigged
Well the goal is to be a top seed so you will not have to travel there. They are allowed to have the home advantage to make up for the talent difference. You would have to be a top tier 4 seed to get a better draw if that make any sense. Its not rigged its just a tough balancing act. Upsets happen man its just the way it go
It is upsetting when that happens to your team. Michigan State not only got snubbed of being a lower overall seed than Michigan, but will end up playing first two rounds against teams whose campuses are less than 4 hours from the venue vs. more than 8 hours for MSU.
First ever NCAA tournament victory, I can't believe USC and UCLA is not qualify this year. Well done UCI.

I have fan from Syracuse so I have a rule : if a family lineage school is in the tourney I don't pick them ( Syracuse LMU or SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA )

That was a serious game, Kansas State was smelling blood in the first round but UC Irvine came back to tie at the half. Wow.
mightydesign actually we weren’t. Our star player was injured and our other star player had to sit out for 15 minutes in the first half.

They just try to select venues that are a travel convenience for as many teams as possible its not rigged.
