Good memories of watching this tournament with my dad while he was in the hospital getting cancer treatment. Lost him a few weeks ago, didn't get a tournament this year. Glad his last one was a good one.

Chase King I’m a Purdue fan so I dealt with everyone saying we shouldn’t be in the elite eight, then we were a couple seconds away from beating the number one team in our side of the bracket. Then the buzzer beater 😖 then Cline missing the free throw it was all a mess and so stressful

Uhh..any game with Purdue involved in that tournament was insanity & absurd. I'm a Michigan State fan as you might know & i had really wished they would join us in the final four!! UVA had the greatest turnaround (walking on egg shells essentially from sweet 16 & on) from the absolute worst to the absolute best! 😂😂 MSU defied the odds with a banged up or injured roster. This tournament was one to remember for many reasons for me. :)
Virginia fan here. Had always known known them to be bad in basketball, and I had hoped that Tony Bennett would get us to the tournament consistently. Instead he got us a Natty and I got to see their journey VS Oregon. Best day of my life!

Sam Sharp UCF was a better team than Duke that game for sure. Referees had to help duke because them loosing that early would have DESTROYED tv ratings. They hyped Zion up all year, and really they started falling apart late season just as this years duke team is doing.

So anybody ever pull up the idea that shouldn’t the Virginia Diakite buzzer have been a backcourt?
I just rewatched it thinking "maybe Purdue knocked it back there..." but no. Virginia just basically got handed a game.
The rules very complexly say that possession ends as soon as the ball leaves the shooter's hands, and the ball is allowed to *bounce* back into the backcourt, but it didn't bounce. Possession was regained when Virginia intentionally tapped it backwards after the shot. That is a backcourt violation.

verde I think the call is that Virginia never actually regained possession. What Diakite did isn't considered gaining possession of the ball.
