Thinning Vallejo Xpress Color Paints with Xpress Medium (and a quick attempt at blending)

Hi everyone. I have been playing with Vallejo Xpress Color Medium and thought I would share the results. Disclaimer: I don't have all the paints in the range!
The main aim was to see what the colours look like thinned with the medium in a one to one ratio. The Gripping Beast plastic Arab Archers and Spearmen each have the undiluted colour on their headwear, and their robes in the dilute colour.
The final mini (seen in the thumbnail) was an experiment in blending Plasma Red into Imperial Yellow with the medium allowing mixing on the model. It worked okay I think.

These do look good, much better than speed paints. Just wish they’d come out sooner, ideally before I bought said speed paints. They do look much better. 🤦‍♂️

I think I was lucky to have no cash spare when the Speed Paints were released! Interesting that they are revamping their entire range soon due to complaints about the reactivation. I am interested in Speed Paint metallics though

how matt is the medium if you let it dry by itself?

It's pretty matt. I would end up varnishing over the top to prevent the paint rubbing off though.
