Jaime is getting a great pair of shoes. But the real story is that when people help people good things happen. My sincere admiration for the guy who wanted to help a good kid and you guys for making that happen.
Here I was fixin' to hit you once again to introduce us to that GOOD dog... and you DID! Annie, time to seize the spotlight and do your part to grow the channel! That's a sweet girl right there! Congrats to the fine young man being gifted that pair of shoes! My advice: Condition that leather and use the shoe trees! And begin to be mindful of where your feet go and how you do so, and those good lookin' hoof-covers will remain in gorgeous condition for many years to come. Blessings upon your studies. Nice to see a new video, you've been missed for the Saturday Coffee Time. Always enjoy seeing a transformation video. God bless you both in your efforts.
We definitely had you in mind when we introduced Annie. Ha. She’s a great dog! We hope he enjoys the shoes. As you mentioned, take care of them and they’ll last for years and years. Have a great weekend!
You may recall some time ago I told that the UK cobbler chain, Timpson, would rehabilitate ex-prisoners as cobblers. The new government over here has just appointed their ex-CEO, James Timpson, as Minister of State in charge of prisons.
One of your best videos to date! I'm glad you finally have a spinning display for the shoes and also it was nice seeing the finished product for more than 10 seconds. Great work 👏 until next time 👋🫡
I learned more about a good shoe line and re-soling in this one video than I have ever known. Thanks for this and thanks to the guy who found these at a steal, sent them to you, and for earmarking them for Jaime.
I just got back my pair of Carmina double monk straps that I sent in for re sole from you guys, and they look excellent. Hopefully I will be sending in my pair of Nettleton loafers soon.
Love the shop-dog and what a great name she has ! What a sweet dog. Does she get to go hunting ? I hope so. I really enjoy watching your craftsmanship and work ethic .
@@TrentonHeaththe personal stories that you will get back on the shoe repairs and refurbishments will prove priceless a fertile ground for many books!
That was an insane deal, John Lobbs are over a grand for loafers. This was a great video, I like a feel good story like that. I'm excited to see what yall have instore for us. Lastly, its good to see you guys representing TN as a fellow East Tennessean its appreciated.
Agree with the idea to have customer in the video. I’ve always loved the content but have always wondered what customers think about the repairs I’ve also wondered how the repaired shoes look like when worn by their owner
Superb straight job. And what a steal!!!! A point on used shoes. When I resole a pair of shoes that were worn by A N Other first, I always take as much of the imprint out of the insole as possible and use cork sheet. Cork paste doesn't take out as much of the original wearers foot print as cork sheet will. I think the paste is better used on a new shoe.... just my findings.
I found some pristine Allen Edmonds last year at a thrift store that were too big for me and ended up giving them to a young co worker of mine for Christmas and he really liked them.
Thank you guys for another great video . And thank you for introducing your shop dog I was going to ask you what his/her name is. Keep up the great work I watch all your videos.William MN
Hello from Sydney Australia , I really find your videos interesting and relaxing , can almost smell the old school charm of a cobblers shop , I checked out your website and will definitely be grabbing myself a pair of your leather thongs ( you call them flip flops, aussies call them thongs 😊), just hope I get the right size when I order ..
The end reminded me of my time in the Marines from 1999-2007. I used to shine my boots so well, you could see yourself in them. Which turned into a way to make extra cash in the barracks on the side.
I have a few pair of shoes that I have been thinking about sending to you guys. I walk in a way that results in my shoes wearing unevenly and was hoping there may be a way to work against that in new soles. Not sure if that is the kind of project you are looking for for subscriber videos, but I have two pair of Thursday Captains and a pair of Samuel Hubbards that could be resoled. One of the Thursdays I dyed a darker color after watching your videos. Either way, this pair of shoes that you restored today look great!
It's an amazing and painstaking job you do, it's obvious that you really like what you do. I have a question, I always wonder how and when you clean the workshop and the machines you use, you must not have much time to do it. I'm just curious. And another thing, I live in Spain and I've been to the Carmina shoe factory a couple of times. If you have the chance, you should visit the factory, it's amazing.
Great job as always gentleman. I also noticed something I'm not sure I've seen you do in other videos unless I missed it when you made sure to imprint the John Lobb logo into the resole, was that out of respect to the manufacturer or to help maintain the status of the shoe itself?
Thanks! We’ve done it for a number of other brands as well. We often do it because it’s one more special touch that we try to provide to our customers. Yes, the leather sole may have changed out, but the shoe is still a John Lobb (or whatever brand).
Just curious, the removed heel block sounded and looked like cardboard, was it? I certainly wouldn't expect an $1800 pair of shoes to be nothing but stacked leather.......
I thoroughly enjoy your videos: this is probably the best (or near the best ever). 👏❤️ Just wondering how many times you guys cut your fingers. I dabble in leather stuff and I always have a box of band-aides by my side, and I use them every time. 😉
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching. Knock on wood, it’s been a long time since we’ve had any cuts. When we were first starting out, we experienced quite a few cuts. I think we figured out how to cut, hold the blades properly, etc. 😁
How would you guys recommend to sanitize and get rid of the dirty inside from Used shoes. One of my main concerns when buying used shoes. Anyone could have had any foot infection or disease? TIA
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching. I believe we did a video on Beckett Simonon several yesrs ago where we took them apart. We both own a couple of pairs as well. They are definitely good shoes for the money. From the ones I’ve owned, the upper leather isn’t super high quality, but it’s still leather and keeps the price down low. For a good all around shoe at that price point, I continue to recommend them.
They sell shoe disinfectant sprays online (like what bowling alleys use after each use). You can also use a mixture of water and rubbing alcohol and spray the insides.
Great video and even greater story. You gents did another amazing job and worked Annie Oakley into the content 👏. Since I love paying it forward...would you be interested in another thrift store send in that has served me for theatrical performances but should get a good proper home? They're more Oxford types but are genuine leather with leather soles and stacked leather heels?? I would mail them and you decide the best course for their next journey in life??
We would love to! If you want to include your story (of the shoes) and what you’d like to see done with them, we’d love to see what we can do and give them away. Feel free to send us an email. Customerservice@potterandsons.com. Thanks!
HEllo, I would like to know, why dont you use a good eva insole instead of cork? EVA wont get that moisture and dont have the risk of blobbing under your feet.
What can I add that hasn't already been said? This Jaime...is he aware of who you guys are and what you do?...will likely be the envy of everyone at his new school!
Why would you use sheet cork? When there’s so much waste and labor intensive. Keep up the great videos and looking forward to your next one. It would’ve been nice to see you get back and do it for free. I’m quite sure you guys do a lot for other people too.
We did do it for free. Also, sheet cork works better than hot cork when we’re trying to hammer out the indentation from the previous owners feet in the insoles.
@@tywebbgolfenthusiast8950 First of all, who doesn’t love Ty Webb? 👍 He doesn’t have to wear these while working. Enjoy watching Forrest working and the best to him on becoming a craftsman.
Congrats to Jamie! And, yes... I would love to see how the owners react when they see the fabulous job you guys have done on their shoes!
Beautiful!! Great job, the young guy is very fortunate that he has people seeing his work toward success!!

Can your shop resole shoes with cup soles, where the stitches go in from the sides? I have Allen Edmonds and Wolverine1000 Mile Boots built that way.

As someone who was born and Raised in Greenville, Ohio, I couldn't approve of the dog's name more.
Not a big fan of the hidden stitch on the sole ,but why do you put a sort of stitch like imprint around the sole when complete ?
Shoe makers/shoe cobblers sometimes add those designs onto the soles of the shoes for decor.
How do you keep the sharp ends of the nails you cut off out of your dogs feet? The pieces look like they have the potential to fly every where.
We sweep frequently.
Great job. I'm not sure they were even worth $7.95 when you started.
If my shoes are hand welted, can I resole them with you ? And can they be hand welted back ? I don’t prefer Goodyear.
Yep, sure can.
Isnt it better to put vibram shoe protectors and brass toe caps to keep it in mint condition
