Could care less bout zombies but punisher is such a good show…in all fairness thought the best season is actually daredevil season 2…punisher steals the show
Second season was loaded with flaws and problems. It objectively was not even comparable to season 1. The fact that you call it one of the greatest seasons of all time on any show makes me think that you love shows based on the actors and performances and not the writing, is that a fair assessment? Because if that's the case, I agree that Jon did an incredible job performance wise in season 2.
Also, those probs wouldn't want him. Shane was an amazing character, and Bernthal played him so very well. Set him up for the movies he has done since.
Same. Imagine if Shane had been one of the lieutenants in the war against the saviors. A strong character that was kicked before anything really happened
I almost wished instead of killing him, they banished him. Then seasons later he shows back up as a villain with a gang. I mean several seasons later. Would have been such a huge callback.
I don't think Bernthal was a big reason for popularity, not saying he wasn't a great character, but TWD got more and more popular after Bernthal left the show, but he did make a great part to the show itself.
Well Shane dies in the comic at the same moment. It was a bummer in the comic, and a bummer in the show. But it's the arc of the character. They changed around a lot for other characters (like Carol not going crazy and killing herself like she did in the comic) but Shane was a pretty specific arc to push Rick to go the direction he did leading to the prison.
Exactly. If we've learned one thing about shows following material is that once they go off path and make their own decisions for greed and popularity reasons, the whole ship falls apart. Look at game of thrones 😭
To be fair. He got out when the show was REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOOOOOOD. And moved on to do ... Jesus.... just about every awesome thing in movies and TV.
Shane may have only lasted two seasons, but in the comic he doesn't even make it to Hershel's farm; Carl shoots him in the woods before the group leaves the camp. So in the end we got to have twice as much Shane, and it was awesome.
From that to daredevil and punisher which he plays excellent. He died on that show at perfect time bc it opened up other doors for him bc he isn't getting any younger
The character Shane survived longer in the tv show than he did in the comics. Jon did a great job in the role though, he pulled off the crazy in love thing that Shane had going on.
It does make perfect sense when you think about that decision. His character was awesome but also a hothead and evil minded. Even though he was the first character to point out to kill the walkers for survival rather than keeping dead family as pets. He also did leave behind that big dude to die and ran away so it showed you his two sides as a character. He needed to be killed off to leave an impression plus develop more anger character in Rick.....Although I must say Shane vs neegan would've been one hell of a scene we may never get to see
I remember people thought the show Z Nation would have been really bad even though it's just a rip-off of The Walking Dead but the only difference is Z Nation was story-driven whereas in The Walking Dead it's nothing just survival and just trying to live the next day it's not that much character development like we had in the earlier seasons
That was his best decision ever!! He is known and love for ever and I for one always watch every show and /or movie were my TWD actors work because I love them all and support them. Love you Jon Bernthal aka Shane :)
Mr. Bernthal looks so much like a tough macho guy, but he is very humble, respectful and nice. I would like to take a drink with this guy sometime, would be very interesting.
Nah Jeffrey Dean Morgan crushed that Negan role. His performance made me want to keep watching after Glen. One of the most memorable performances on tv in my opinion. Especially in season 7..
Shane, Merle were both characters that were short lived that are remembered and appreciated more than some of the current characters that have been on for 3 or more seasons. Alden, Jerry are cool but they honestly don't have the impact that these earlier characters had
Is Shane being remembered so fondly a testament to his acting and character or the utter lack of creativity and energy of the show after the 1st and 2nd season?
What a character and performance. Now the show is coming to an end, I'm becoming really nostalgic for all the lost characters. It's been my life for a decade. BTW, they should have found some way for the horde to arrive later, so Rick could have buried Shane, THEN come back in S3 to dig him up to kill his reanimated body. Perhaps with Michonne. That would have been great
Honestly I wish Jon was never killed off on the TWD until Jon got his role on The Punisher. Herschel changed Rick so much it would have been nice to see if Herschel would have done the same to Shane with the whole concept Mercy over my wrath appreciating that all life matters something that Shane extremely lack he always blame the apocalypse for it I remember Shane kept telling Rick that the world's changed you have to be different to survive aka a Negan
Good call. Network TV is a path to nowhere. Yea you can definitely chill and collect pay checks but in terms of the big screen it seems to be mostly a dead end with a few good exceptions.
It's interesting that you showed Breaking Bad when you are talking about The Walking Dead because and season 2 episode 2 we actually saw a blue bag of meth in Merle's bag when Daryl was looking for medicine to help with t dog fever
Wouldn't say that, Martin. But I respect your opinion. I get some people saw issues with the Saviours arc (7+8), but I think it's been outstanding, appointment TV all the way through. Only thing is, it's not the same without Rick, though.
Watch Jon Bernthal's FULL interview here: siriusxm.us/BernthalHSS
He was only there 2 seasons, but he was one of the most memorable characters ever on the show. He needed to be there to make Rick great
Jon Bernthal and Steven Yeun were the two best actors on the show and they killed them both lol
@@brendanlittle2498 just like in the comics. In fact Shane got more screen time on TV show then he did in the comics.
Every season I wish he was there to handle shit lol
Andrew linicion is the best actor it’s not close
@@slitherking621 I agree. To me, he WAS The Walking Dead. I couldn't watch the show once he was gone.
Bernthal was built to be Shane, but he was destined to be The Punisher.
Disney better bring it back

those first two seasons of TWD are to this day some of the best television I’ve ever seen
I agree. I've loved it all the way through. But Shane made Rick into the survivor he became....and he was lowering his gun, too.
Same goes for me
Yep.
Completely agree 😁🥰.
Second season was loaded with flaws and problems. It objectively was not even comparable to season 1.

If Bernthal would've been cast in NCIS: LA it wouldn't have left any tim for him to do all of these great movies he has done since leaving TWD.
And shows (Punisher one of them) 😩
Also, those probs wouldn't want him. Shane was an amazing character, and Bernthal played him so very well. Set him up for the movies he has done since.
If he didn't get killed off on Walking Dead, he perhaps would have never gotten Punisher. And that would have been a damn shame.
You mean a damn Shane.
Ok I'll let myself out...

He's pretty good at freestyling too.
🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Even to this day I keep thinking to myself in almost every TWD episode; What would Shane do if he was still here? Such a strong character.
Rick took on his personality of not trusting anyone.
Shane would have been a Negan like character in my opinion
Same. Imagine if Shane had been one of the lieutenants in the war against the saviors. A strong character that was kicked before anything really happened

Jon's performance in the episode "pretty much dead already" not getting an emmy is an epic snub. it is still to this day the best episode of TWD.

the punisher is great i dont know why it got canceled :/
Disney owned the rights and with them starting Disney+, Netflix canceled all the Marvel shows. Rumor is Disney+ will bring the shows back.
fingers cross chris
He IS the Punisher. I can’t imagine anyone else taking the role.
Disney is br8nging him back hombre….there doing another punisher series on Hulu under the mcu

Jon was amazing as Shane. One of the most memorable characters of the show.
Love this actor. First time I have heard his actual voice rather then the punisher
That scene in Sicario when he's being interrogated by Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin was epic.
The character Shane survived longer in the tv show than he did in the comics. Jon did a great job in the role though, he pulled off the crazy in love thing that Shane had going on.
