He is just awesome, the solo album rocks.I hold this guy as one of the most complete metal guitarists out there, technique, vibrato, and a very strong melodic sense coupled with great phrasing, feel and timing. There's a lot of jason becker influences in his playing but he made it his own.Fantastic player, seems to be a humble nice guy aswell.
He is definitely tasteful and talented. Love his solos with Nevermore. His formula and phrasing sometimes can get a bit repetitive but he is a fantastic guitarist.
Jeff is insane...there are no further words to describe him;-)Great composition!I´m also one of the guys who is looking forward to his Solo-Album!! Aahh, have I already mentioned that he´s insane;-)
i have this guitar. i find it really comfortable. just like thewererabbit said, the strings a bit more tension but i also like the extra little bit of room you have to play up high on the neck. i love everything about the guitar.
Jeff must be the wildest shred monster I know of! Damn that man can play! and he puts so much emotion into each note he picks (and also the ones he hammers and pulls :-) I wonder if he actually is the fastest guitarist ever? some of the stuff Jeff plays is insanely fast!
Very true, I enjoy Batio as well. Both are incredible players, thanks for the comment. The reason I said Tiago is simply because I just recently watched his record setting performance with a few friends, and we were all sitting speechless while he tore the absolute shit out of Flight of the Bumblebees. Not to take away from M A B in the least, incredible guitarist, just simply wasn't thinking about him at the time. You are 100% right, he is amazing. Thanks for the heads up. Peace.
very excellent breed of a guitarist....jason becker fluid sweeping, petrucci speed, malmsteenesque songwriting ,paul gilbert string attack all combined into the loomis metal spirit
Seriously, Jeff Loomis has raised the bar so high that nothing else really impresses me anymore...I was listening to Paul Gilberts latest solo album and was like "damn hes got some insane licks.....but Jeff's are more insane." Not to shit on Gilberts ability or anything, he's in my top 3, but that's just an example.
ok, i spent most of my time watching that with my jaw hung open i would also like to say, there were parts where i thought i was lagging or there was something wrong with the camera... but no, his fingers are actually moving so fast i couldnt see them 0.o amazing!
no me canso de ver esta mierda.... jeff loomis es sin duda un gran guitarrista... q estilo mas agresivo y brutal .... maneja a la perfeccion todas las tecnicas ... BRAVO JEFF!
this guy is good. And when you listen to some of his solos like the one in the sanity assassin you can see that he is not all speed. He can write some impressive and emotional stuff as well.
@Nelson123n Yeah, the only thing I find scarier is that he wrote his solo album over the course of a couple months. All those intricate patterns and melody-tinged sweeps... damn.
@DegraDeadlock Wrong dude. Right before RIP, Jeff told Marty of the audition, Marty went, got the spot and recorded the leads for RIP. Chris went in for the same audition, but was denied the gig. Now 20 years later, Chris was explicitly offered a place in Megadeth at the end of his Nevermore stint.
When you tune down, or have a low b, you have to keep the strings tight, so you can play 'em of course. this is done in two ways, thicker strings and/or longer necks. Longer necks equals higher string tension. This means longer necks are better for low tuned instruments, hence stand up basses being huge, and violins being teeny. For a guitarist, this means that the strings will be a bit tighter than on a normal seven string, which usually is an inch shorter. The difference is not huge.
Jeff Loomis is one of my biggest inspiration. He's the best!
when i started watching this video my eyes began to melt at the awesomeness
He is just awesome, the solo album rocks.I hold this guy as one of the most complete metal guitarists out there, technique, vibrato, and a very strong melodic sense coupled with great phrasing, feel and timing. There's a lot of jason becker influences in his playing but he made it his own.Fantastic player, seems to be a humble nice guy aswell.
