I've had a lot of fun with this game. The setting is unique and fun to explore, and it's difficult enough that this souls veteran had to walk away a few times. This is one of those games that I'm glad just exists. The devs seem to really care about putting out a genuine soulslike that's stable (I had no bugs, anyway), engaging, and fun. My sincere hope is that the colorful visuals and accessibility draw in new fans to a not always welcoming genre.
Thanks for the video. That's nice that they paired the gun with the shell mechanic. Here's hoping it's successful enough to spawn a sequel that will expand on this title. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
The humor of this game was on point. Most of the jokes and references are well put together, I had a blast with it. PS. One joke that a lot of people might've missed is the final area BGM is a slower version of "Crab Rave by Noisestorm"... Which caught me by surprise that I laughed out loud in one of the more serious parts of the story. All in all great game.
11:14 OMFG 😂😂😂😂 I totally forgot about THAT shell in the game, first time I read that description I let out a belly worthy laugh & seeing it again still makes it happen. For anyone confused it’s a reference to a short story turnt meme, the six worded goes ; “For sale: baby shoes, never worn”
17:06 if your looking to party more effectively, I’ve found that attack at the moment of contact does the job pretty well. When you attack from hiding in your shell it counts as coming out of it and parries an attack with the right timing. It does mess up the follow up attacks at points, but it is a way to parry with relative ease.
We need more games that let us play as animals, like we had back in the PS1 days with A Dog’s Life. They must be a lot more difficult to animate as a player, but they’re so distinct stand out in a competitive market.
Since I never liked how most of souls-likes do parrying, I actually loved parrying in ACT more. I am pretty sure most people have your experience with it being weird to do it on release which is not what most do. In my head, I always thought of parrying as risking yourself to getting hit to nullify something, so letting go of my guard to swing my shield out (leaving me open to getting hit) to counter someone matched up with my thought process more.
Here is a tip for parrying; instead of releasing your block, just press the attack button while blocking, it is much easier to time (maybe dodge as well, but not completely sure about that)
Another Crabs Treasure is a genuinely fun game, loved how colorful and cartoony it is, every single shell in this game made me chuckle a little, and the world design is brilliant, it has the energy of a Gamecube era platformer
I started playing it after your first look and I'm loving it so far. It's the first Souls-like I really play because, on top of the humor and the subject matter being close to my heart, the fact that the accessibility options are /there/ makes me feel like the game isn't going to be unfairly hard.
I feel like you are hinting at the souls like games or what do you mean in particular? Because if you do, I would disagree there. Not a single Souls-Game (At least from FromSoft) is "unfair". Sry but it simply isn't, and I am saying this as someone who struggled A LOT during all of those but still somehow managed to complete all of them.... It's interesting that people adress modern Soulsgames as "hard", although there are many older games that are actually unfair by design because they were so short that they HAD to implement sth. to keep the playing playing for a longer time than the game's actual length (look at the arcade games for instance). No Souls Game is "unfair" , but they are all admittedly demanding the player to engage and be patient. Mistakes and trying over and over and over again is kind of the point.
@@richardfreutel5002 but see that's the thing, it doesn't matter if Dark Souls and the other From Software games are actually fair or not. The impression I got from them, from the community and the reviews, is that they are games where you bang your head against a wall, until you or the wall breaks. And as such I've never wanted to touch them, even though the world looks really cool. This game has a button that makes the wall crumble, or go away entirely.

I really loved the first part of the game.. until I reached the city. From then on it became a bit frustrating, not in a demon/dark souls fun kind of frustration. Levels have projectile shooting enemies, one shot taking away half of your life. Most of those enemies are in unreachable places so in any normal fight you constantly get shot. Easiest way is just to run through those levels and avoid all the enemies. For extra fun there are platform sections where you have to jump while getting shot at.
