I’m with Linda, like the astronomy area. Maybe because my son is an astrophysicist for real. We had to put our border collie down two days ago. Still dealing with the grief so watching you try to find a bench site for gizmo was fitting for us. We will be down there soon, thanks!
A walking path seems just right for a dog Memorial Bench. Might be positive encouragement for those with dogs to go walking. Might be encouragement to have a water break spot for pets and adults. Having a specific pet dedication walking lane could be a destination point on a map. Putting an engraved picture of Gizmo on the dedication plaque might attract more pet and people walkers.

I agree with Linda. The astronomy area would be perfect for the bench. It's easy to find and access to parking space as well as the opportunity to have gatherings with family and friends makes it a winner.😉👍
We went there during the afternoon and the gate was locked. We would like a place that can be accessed when we want to go, not when it happens to be open.
Enjoyed the ride. Too bad you can’t get a bench closer to your home area. I’d wait for a new location to come up. I agree with Jerry. I know we would do a cart ride to see the bench on the multi-modal path. Good luck!

Great video. The pond where you saw the turkeys is one of my favorite places to take my lunch and sit and watch for any alligator sightings. Have seen several there. The bench site on that corner in St. Catherine might work since the St. Catherine postal station is across the street and there would be parking available. I’m sure you will find the perfect place. ❤
Hard to use of they keep the gate locked for a bench. I get what kinda thinks but your right Jerry one that everyone can drive by and actually see!
I always appreciate a bench somewhere along a walking trail, so I can sit down for a few minutes, before carrying on.

Personally, I wish there were more benches along that walking path. I walk on that path quite often and there are many times when I would just like to sit and rest just for a few minutes and look at the beautiful scenery. The scenery along that walking path is really gorgeous. It's very quiet there as well.

NICE RIDE TODAY. Thanks. Appreciate your love for GIZMO. My best friend MILLIE, our Golden doodle passed 3 weeks ago and it still hurts a bunch. She was only 6 and got Lukemia. She only lasted about a week after diagnosis. Ready for another pup to love if I could get my Linda on board. It was very nice riding with you today. Thanks. God bless.
Love the mission! I'm with Linda I like the Homestead location for the potential for gatherings (plenty of parking) and it is a very relaxing area! And it will be so easy for future newcomers in the Eastport area to cross the Southern Oaks Bridge and see Gizmo's bench as well.
Jerry and Linda, we think you should pick the bench at the astronomy pads and then host a Gizmo Doggie Get Together at the pavilion every year! We will bring our floofer! 😄🐶

I liked the one on the walking/bike trail overlooking the pond. Nice views, peaceful environment and not too far from the cart path. I would think folks who are walking or biking are more likely to stop and sit on a bench than folks in carts.

Maybe wait for a bench on the Eastport side across Bexley Bridge? Something to think about is that the astronomy pad is also right next to a dog park.
The black streaks on those roofs can be eliminated by using a hose with a product like spray & forget, not terribly expensive. A do it yourself project!
I love the one that is behind the locked gate! It’s such a beautiful spot!
We couldn't even see it because the gate was locked and it was not night time. Sign said open dawn to dusk. It would be very disappointing to go there and find the gate locked.

Just a thought about bench placement on a walking or biking trail … that’s where one would WELCOME an opportunity to sit for a bit and enjoy a relaxing break .
Beautiful bike ride in your paradise was so gorgeous. I think so many communities could learn a lot from the Villages for construction of well designed communities. Having a town square were everyone gathers and dances, and greet and meets....such a wonderful idea. And pathways for Gold carts does not get better than the Villages. Been to Brownwood and boy has it grown up. Those bridge entries with the stonework are superb brick or stonework...landscaping is truly so nicely kept up. Loved the one with the pond.Great for walkers and or dog walkers.Not many people are going to stop while riding a golf cart just to sit .....LOve the pond area❤
We so completely understand the desire for that "feels just right" spot. We're still going through that with a house! You know, the further South you go, the less likely the newer people will have had that special connection with Gizmo. If those are the only spots available, then that is what you have to do. Heck, I'd put a bench in our front yard if we had the space! I love Linda's idea of having a picnic or gathering, but if they lock the gates, you can't even get to it later in the day. (that astronomy pad situation is plain stupid!) Like @jpfautsch said, Gizmo will always hold a special place in our hearts, as do you both. 💖

I like the Astronomy pad because everyone would know where to find it. Hey guys, I just drove my new golf cart today, first time driving one. You were the ones that got me dreaming of the lifestyle. I am in Hawaii, above a resort area. I call our area Hornet Hills. Our neighborhood regulations specify electric only, so it sounds like a bunch of hornets flying around lol.
I agree with Linda. The astronomy pad is the perfect place to put the bench. It's a nice quiet place as opposed to a bench by a road. It's an easy walk since the parking lot is right there.
It was a pretty place, but it was locked. You could not even see the bench area. It was supposed to be open from dawn to dusk. We were there during that time and it was locked up tight. So many people chipped in wanting to use and enjoy the bench I wouldn't feel right putting it in a place where they could not get there easily anytime they like.
@JERRYANDLINDA I'm not sure why it was closed when you were there. It should have been open. I walk there several times a week and it's never been closed before dawn. Maybe it was a staffing issue for that particular day.
Also... no dogs allowed.
People who know you and remember Gizmo will find a way to visit the bench no matter where it is. Like those people who geocache, they will go to the ends of the earth just to get a picture and say they were there. I would prefer the serene setting by the lake or the one near picnic benches, and those would be spots where I would want to linger and ponder life. At an intersection, I might not even stop. Good luck in your search! I love you guys.

That astronomy park is so gorgeous & there parking right there! Wish it were unlocked. Maybe you should go back when it’s open? My dog barked when you said Gizmos name. She remembers watching him on TV fondly! Wow. So cool. I laughed so hard at the blowing paper debacle! Only in TV would there be an instant crowd to help. Awesome.

I like the astronomy pad too; great area for picnics near dog parks too. Not that far from parking lot to walk to. Plus close to my house so I can visit often. Whatever you decide will be the right one!
Hi to Chatty Cathy and Chatty Ken in Chitty Chatty, from Chatty Caro....first...I love Chitty Chatty. When we were down there it was 10 years ago this month, well there was no St. Catherine's, no Bradford, but those places are gorgeous. That walking path in St. Catherines is just so peaceful looking and away from busy busy Morse Blvd. My favorite home in the Villages is a Courtyard Villa. You are so lucky to be able to go on a golf cart ride in the fresh air. Thank you so much for taking us along with you both. Our rides and conversations shared are priceless. Great video! It’s so pretty everywhere. I vote for Linda’s pick on the astronomy site. Though I understand Jerry’s reasoning. They really didn’t give you much of selection.
My state, Michigan, is surprisingly one of the top states for bike paths. (Surprisingly cuz of our weather). There are many people who do the same thing with the benches, along the paths.
Hopefully new sites will open up soon for you to pick from.

Great video. I really enjoyed the beautiful joy ride. I didn’t realize we are supposed to merge from the golf cart lane into the main road to make a left. Noted!!! Can’t wait to enjoy Gizmo’s bench. He brought lots of good memories to all who follow you. Enjoy!

Yes Linda, I had that doll too when I was younger, This is so wonderful a true testament to show how many people love and respect you both and I feel it's a small way for us to show how much we all appreciate you both. You have no idea how many people you have helped and forever changed their lives and I am one of them. I have never been so happy in my entire life until I moved to The Villages and it's all because of you both. I think the astronomy area would be perfect, it is not far from the parking lot, it has the roofed area to create some shade, which will be nice to be able to sit and think of Gizmo. A nice quiet oasis…
It was locked during the daytime. You could not even see the bench except when they unlocked that gate. It said open dawn to dusk. We were there between those times and it was locked up tight. Many people chipped in to have a bench that they could visit and we don't know that they could very often if we chose that spot.

LOVED the ride. (I had a chatty cathy doll too, people also call me chatty Kathy, got to get my 10,000 words in everyday!!) I think whatever bench you choose will be great and then everyone can go to it and take pictures with it and send them to you!!!!! How fun is that? I LOVED when you all stopped to help that man!!!!! You seemed very relaxed on the ride. That's what I am looking forward to when we get there. No nibbles on our house yet, NOT getting discouraged, YET. Have a Blessed Easter!!!

I liked the last spot also! I think people would make it a destination to see the bench , stay a while, and have a picnic. The others seemed to be more difficult to stop and relax at. Too many golf carts flying by with very little room. JMO!

Love the cart ride 😊 I hope the new hot dog place going in isn't Portillos. We had one come into our town in Texas and it's expensive and not that great. IMO (PS I'm with Linda, I lthink the Astronomy Pad is the best location for Gizmo's bench.)
We have friends that think Portillo's is the greatest thing ever! We've never been there, but we'll give it a try.

Aw my heart. I know Jerry is going to get a lot of not so nice comments for not liking the last pad. Linda it is lovely but as Jerry said it would not be accessible to all of us who want to visit it. I adore you both and your love for one another is so obvious. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to share with us on this cart ride for Gizmo's bench. Loved every moment of it. Also, the way you got out of your cart to go help the young gent clean up the napkins just shows how much the Villages really so mean to both of you. I am the same way in my neighborhood. I walk my dog and pick up garbage and poop bags other leave behind. I am proud of my neighborhood and have pride in living in it. Yes I will always pick up garbage and do anything to keep it beautiful.

Love the golf car rides makes us feel like we are there with you. We will be there in June hopefully we can meet you! We love that you talk about things while your driving. We have rented houses and done the LS visit and your golf car is very peaceful and not noisy at all. We watched the Ty Vikas on TV being built. We love the chatty chatty area. We make Linda's meatloaf and tweeked it to be a little spicy with Jalapeño ketchup and spicy barbecue sauce is good stuff! Good job for the good deed! We just said the same thing about the time of the astronomy pad that's when you need to use it is after dark.. that's so silly we laughed when we saw the sign. We do like the thought of a bench under that tree after chatty chatty perfect spot. The benches right in the direct sun doesn't make sense. Good kick on the search for the Gizmo bench ❤!

Comment..... I say put it on that walking path in St. Catherine by that pond. There will be lots of people walk that path and when someone finds it and reads the plaque it will make it that much more special.....it's a nice quiet place.

I just lost my 43 yr old Yellow Naped Amazon parrot 3 weeks ago and understand the heartache of a quiet house and how tough it is about the routines now being so different. Well, the day we went there it was locked. You have to actually walk into the astronomy area to see it. No one would be passing by. I'm afraid it would be closed up when some people wanted to go see it.

Maybe you wait until benches open up in the new area south of the turnpike and that way you are first in line and get the first choise of the best spots available,

Just watched the show and we vote for the bench spot in St. Catherine on Waterman Way at time spot 39:17..nice view, plenty of parking on the street or across at the mail station/pool area...main throughfare St Catherine's Circle...perfect!!

One of my choral members lives in Chitty Chatty!. Hey! I was just on Kristine Way yesterday. Had my taxes done at H&R Block. I agree with Linda. Such a beautiful sight at the lake with the ducks and turkeys! Thanks for all your effort to find a bench that we can all have access to and enjoy! I remember meeting Gizmo in person and petting him. Watching a group of strangers all come together to pick up a bunch of random napkins speaks volumes about The Villages as a whole. Neighbors helping one another and people keeping their community clean. You really don't see that anywhere else and that's why the people keep coming and the developer has to keep building. I hope future generations keep things as wonderful as they currently are. I suspect they will, as it is mostly like-minded individuals relocating there.
