I had the honor of spending an hour in John Prine"s hotel room at his invitation to my girlfriend and me at the Hawaiian Hilton in Honolulu in 1994. He was a down to earth, sweet, vulnerable, kind, funny, endearing man. Saw him in Austin in 1976 and Torrington, Connecticut in 2018. Same humble, gifted, perceptive gentleman. His music brings tears. His stuff will last as long as people have hearts and can feel empathy and can think.

Had the honor of meeting Mr Prine and his wife on a music cruise.
I played Paradise at the open mic.
He told me “you sing that song better than I do”
      I dont….
Then we hung out on the couch and watched people for about 3 hours.

I too had the pleasure ofknowing John Prine in fact he took me to paradise and told me the history of that song and what it meant to him. He lived un nashville and I loved in southern Illinois
So we got together wheneverhe was back in Nashvill or would meet up when he was playing on this area. He told me that he had 3 redheads in his life at the time .and he mentioned me,Bonnie Raitt pne of the Kidds and someone in Ireland and that one je eventually married so I was in good company.lol And eventually I met a local boy and we married and had 2 wonderful some didn't see each other for a long time then he married Fiona who is a wonderful person from what I hear. I did get to see him a couple of time before covid took him away from us.I still miss him so much.such a wonderful person .I remember being with him in St Louis one time and the last person backstage was an old Vietnam vet in a wheelchair and they talked u til the sun came up. So humble and caring. Not many people like that an y more. He will always be loved and remembered. I was so honored to be his friend and nobody will ever take his place.

Like John Sayles’ “Matewan” is to film, “Paradise” is the definitive, unmatched vocal outcry about what the coal industry did to Appalachia with its take and destroy attitude.

Check out the documentary “Harlan County USA” by Barbara Kopple. (Won an Academy Award). Coal country life was tougher than hell. RIP John, we’ll miss you so much. You reached us in heart and mind.

It broke my heart when I heard that John prine has died. I agree with some of the others. I'd like a lot of singer-songwriters Bill Anderson bill has read written mini songs for other artists John if you can hear me you will always be in my heart and mind. God I know you can hear me please Lord welcome John in heaven. Thank you God

I think may be the Bottom Line Club , Greenwich village july '78, possibly on King Biscuit , in support of Bruised Orange Album . There was a few signature gigs that year , but I think this is the one thats featured and I recall there is alot of info on the keys out there.

Rachel was my Aunt. She passed a couple years ago. Didn’t stay much in music, worked in stained glass. A very unique Lady. Miss her dearly.
