Exactly there either needs some elasticity to give phone owner time to brace themselves or just as others say know your surroundings making sure you can see left and right of you so if someone does try you have longer to react.

A general observation, if you are talking on your cell while walking, you are already unsafe! If you need to be on your phone, stop somewhere where you can be more aware of you situation. (Potholes, curbs, railings, grates, crosswalks, etc., etc., can all ruin your day as well.)

Personally, I would use a Bluetooth earpiece with a microphone and keep the phone out of sight in my pocket. You can answer calls easily by pressing a small button on the earphone. You can also get a watch which will connect to your phone by Bluetooth to allow calling and answering your phone. The paracord idea is great if you don't have another alternative.

Using parts from a few of your videos, I have already done this good enough for me, but for a video idea, here goes. When camping in my motorhome, I make a dog run out of paracord. The place I anchor to the motorhome is pretty high up, so the first issue to solve is how to tie it up high but make easy to undo without a ladder. Secondly, whatever I tie the other end to, typically not quite as high up but don’t want to hang people either. Third is how to connect it to the dog, I like to use the dog leash I already have that locks and retracts. The whole thing works great, she is very limited to width by the length of the leash, oh and I failed to mention I use a small metal pulley thing with an eyelet so she can go quite a long way along that pulley. Anyway, love the channel, no clue how popular it may be, but thought I’d suggest it.

A knot I like to provide a breakaway:
Using a small tube, such as a pen barrel, place a fold of the shorter end of the cord along its length.
Taking the opposite end, lay it along the pen in the opposite direction and make 5 turns back along the pen (around all three ends).
Finally, pass the tip of the second end up through the centre of the knot, using the tube as a guide - either by pushing it up through the tube or follow the tube as you draw it out, like using a fid.
The second end makes a "grinner" knot (quintuple overhand) around the bight of the first, which grips it firmly, but the bight slides out cleanly under tension without catching any bulk from sealing the end.
To my knowledge, the preeceeding knot doesn't have a name but I humbly suggest the "half-double grinner" after the related bend (the double-grinner sometimes used by fishermen).

    • @austinboyd5363
      @austinboyd5363 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Rule 1 only works when you aren't getting pickpocketed. Or if you sew in hidden pockets on the inside of your clothes in spots people usually wouldn't have pockets.
Zippers on pockets add an additional layer of protection as they will have to spend extra time fidgeting with the zipper which would also tug a little giving you some sensation of someone touching you.
Situational awareness is also important but not always perfect as all it takes is one little distraction for someone to be an opportunist.
Just be mindful of where you are, what I mean by that is some neighborhoods are not the best neighborhoods to be walking around all strapped up with stuff. For instance a buddy of mine had his laptop bag stolen with his laptop and tablet still in it on his way home from work in Oakland... He's lived there for years and has never had any issues until then, one dude acted as a distraction while the other dude came up and snatched the bag right off of him and bolted.
Some situations are avoidable, some not so much.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about how this is supposed to work. When a thief grabs a phone like that there is no initial resistance because the victim is taking by surprise and it happens too quickly. However the thief will probably not initially have a perfectly secure grip either so a tether snapping taut may be enough to yank it out of his hand. If that doesn't work, the safety break should prevent complete mayhem. Also the belt loop on the pants would probably fail.

Unlikely they will have gripped your phone with the strength of 120-220lbs. I suppose teeny tiny risk of it catching on their arm and dragging you. Honestly the real reason this is dumb is because it might rip them off their bike and then they just get up and stab you. It's just a phone

Hey quick request: I’m a student that gets groceries on my motorcycle. I do a double backpack situation but sometimes it’s not enough space and I end up tying some bags to my backpacks. I’ve used your “groceries on a truck bed” method and it works pretty well using the handle on the backpack, but I’m wondering if there is something more secure for tying up my groceries. I don’t 100% trust it when I’m going 55 or so on a bike or when there is 2 or more bags that I’m tying to that backpack loop.

More likely the thief will leave the person standing there with NO pants on if it's hooked to them. I don't believe the belt loops is strong enough to hold while someone drives away, it will shred the pants or just break the belt loop. yes the person will probably fall from the initial pull which will assist in the removal of the pants or breaking of the belt loop.
