He said Jesus needed the prophetic. Don’t forget Jesus was God but was in the flesh at this time. He relates Jesus to us because we are also sons of God but in the flesh like Jesus was. Listen 💯 Jesus needed the prophetic. God sent John the Baptist ahead of Jesus. Why did God do that? Dont try to be Holier or smarter than God by saying no he doesn’t need it. if God sent prophets ahead of Jesus, you can deduce from the wisdom of God that he needed the prophetic. Don’t make the prophetic sound like it is just about the man. The prophets are God sent men and they are prophesying Gods agenda. So don’t be controversial. What you are trying to teach is that Jesus could have been fine to ignore John and say I am God I don’t need him. But have you thought about what this statement mean? Matt 3:15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.
Joshua Selman is trying to teach people not to be arrogant like you and say we don’t need the prophetic God is all I need. When the same God is the one that sent the prophets. You are trying to say to God I don’t like that style do it another way since your are all powerful. The bible was for us to learn Gods ways and even though God is all powerful he doesn’t do things anyhow. You have a lot to learn obviously

It's well sir. But i think your perspective does not justify scriptural context but it's your perspective anyway. The people who prophesied about Jesus Christ did that as inspired by God not to help God in anyway but to prepare the heart of those for whom Jesus was coming to save. Also at what point was it reveal from scripture that Jesus heaven was closed. What happened when John baptised Jesus was for John confirmation of who Jesus is and not that Jesus heaven was open then. Well it's perspectives.
      Thanks

what i noticed from the comment section is that most people lack the spirit of understanding and revelation.
Yes, Jesus was limited because he became a man.
The whole center of the discussion is that "Men are limited"
Why did the angel of God tell Joseph the father of Jesus to carry him and run to Egypt when they wanted to kill him?
    Was he not God?
Can God die? No but he inhabited a human body which by design can cease to exit.
Too many people without bible knowledge throwing words around.

You are somewhat right but also remember Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He allowed himself to be limited while on earth for a period of time as referred to in Philippians 2.
For Apostle Selman to say that “Jesus’ heaven was closed” isn’t biblical. There is nowhere in the Gospel that says that but rather “As he prayed, the heaven was opened”. “The heaven” and “his heaven” are two different things.
The reason the heaven was opened was because God wanted to confirm the sign he gave John the Baptist concerning the Messiah he was to baptise.
“And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.”
      ‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭33‬ ‭
So, you see that what happened during Jesus’ baptism was a sign to John. Jesus was already approved of the father but needed to physically manifest so men like John can witness this. Unfortunately, many believers often try to sound deep which usually end in heresies.
When God uses a man to fulfill his agenda, it’s a privilege and not because God needs us. He can choose to do anything but often times, he chooses to use men due to the principles He has put in place. We must remain humble and know that being used by God is an honour and a privilege.
We love and honour Apostle Selman but the Word of God has preeminence over all things.
      God bless!

@OasisBrown I sincerely appreciate your comment. Very apt and profound and exactly my thoughts. Couldn't have said it any better. I sometimes don't get the point of pastor Gideon's videos. I feel it spiteful and further enforces and fuels the unwarranted attacks on men of God and the body at large.
And as you rightly said men are limited vessels and Jesus taking on the form of man was also limited because the protocol and legalities of the realms demands it. If it were not so Jesus should have appeared on earth out of nowhere ..after all He is God and can do all things with or without the help of man like pastor Gideon here is asserting. But he came through a human vessel in Mary.
He needed the disciples in his walk here on earth for certain prophecies to be fulfilled etc.. The bible is replete with several other instances.. the point here is God is sovereign. But he has designed this realm such that men are needed to enforce the will of God.
I really appreciate your comment. Stay blessed sir

See, I tell you, Apostle is right by saying his Heaven remained closed, Jesus had an assignment on earth and it came with timelines, until he's 30 years he's not supposed to start ministry. Though he was God, he left his Godship above and came as a man and so he went through the limitations of men until he was baptized and the heavens open and the holy Spirit decended on him before his ministry began and that was when he started doing all kinds of heavy things.
Don't forget when his mother took him to a wedding and ask him to solve a wine problem he told his mother his time has not come yet to start doing miracles he did it anyway but it was an exception. All through his life he needed men to help him and Apostle Selman is emphasizing on that even Jesus needed prophets to pave the way for him to come.
Look all what you are concentrating on is in the new testament what about the old testament even the Prophet Isaiah countless times gave prophecies about Jesus, King David during his time made references about Jesus in the old testament before we even talk about the new testament so Selman is right to emphasize that despite others have abused the prophetic gift, it will be wrong to total boycott and not believe in it because even Jesus came through prophesy by major prophets.
      Think about it well

Track record? Anyone can make mistakes and no one is above correction. It has nothing to do with popularity or reach, we are talking about scriptures here. Apostle Joshua Selman is being corrected by a fellow minister. He made a wrong statement and has made one or two or more wrong statements in time past. No doubt he loves the Lord, and has helped build many, but when a pastor makes an unscriptural statement, we should identify it. Even if it's a one minute utterance in a 1 hour sermon, we consider the intensity of what was said. ........."Jesus's heaven was closed until John the Baptist baptised Him". Put sentiments aside and think about this statement and it's implications. Jesus is Lord, and Saviour. Walked the earth - divinity in humanity. God manifested in the flesh.

Man of God, I usually agree wholeheartedly with what you say on here. In this case, I think you are being excessively overactive to the emphasis Apostle Selman is making. In his statement: “your Jesus”, he was merely personalising the statement and not to say he is exceptional or superior to relate with Jesus neither was he alluding to not having an association with Jesus nor saying he has lost his relationship/ reverence for Him.
Secondly, Apostle Selman mentioning that Jesus needed prophets is also valid in the sense that though God is sovereign, He has also subjected himself to his word and principles. So though God can do things without the intervention of man, he doesn’t because of the integrity he has subjected himself to by elevating his word above himself. In addition, remember, Christ was man though fully God and had the mandate to teach us how a man filled with the Spirit can live successfully to please God. So consider what would have been the message to pass on if God bypassed certain principles of his.
These are the points I disagree with you regarding. Thank you.

So why should we have a problem with "YOUR Jesus"? 😂Point is let's stop seeing errors where there is none. We all know what he meant unless we want to lie to ourselves. I seriously question Apostle Selman's standpoint because of his inconsistency. He's not consistent with the word of God. Today he's saying the truth tomorrow he's out of line, the double mindedness of his heart is a clear reflection of this, I pray he will return to the truth and not just seek high sounding non sense which leads men away from the gospel of Christ.

What is termed "prophetic" most times today is simply divination or fortune telling. Back to what selman said; what exactly did simeon or Ana do to impact Jesus' ministry? Even His baptism was simply to fulfill " righteousness" as He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and as such was full of the spirit from birth .His coming and ministry had been foretold by prophets in the old testament. May God give us discernment.

You know Pastor, I strongly believed some African Preachers are trying to be more knowledgeable than the Bible itself. Proofing to their members that they know more than the saving grace of our Lord Christ Jesus.
There are several reasons why some preachers may go beyond what the Bible says:
    1. Personal interpretation: They may interpret biblical teachings through their own lens, experiences, or biases.
    2. Cultural influence: They may be swayed by cultural norms, traditions, or values that aren't necessarily biblical.
    3. Theological perspective: They may adhere to a specific theological framework or doctrine that extends beyond scriptural teachings.
    4. Emotional appeal: They may use sensational or emotive language to engage their audience, even if it means exceeding biblical boundaries.
    5. Power dynamics: They may seek to exert control or authority over their congregation by introducing extrabiblical teachings.
    6. Lack of understanding: They may misinterpret or misunderstand biblical teachings, leading to inaccurate or extrabiblical messages.
    7. Personal agenda: They may promote their own ideas, opinions, or interests, even if they aren't supported by scripture.
    8. Tradition: They may perpetuate teachings or practices passed down through their religious tradition, even if they aren't rooted in scripture.
It's essential to remember that the Bible should be the primary source of authority for Christian teaching. Always evaluate sermons and teachings against scriptural evidence and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit.
keep it up Pastors, do not allow this teachings goes on uncheck, may the Lord guide and protect you !

Context is very key, in bible interpretation. No verse of Scripture can be divorced from the verses around it. Interpreting a verse apart from its context is like trying to analyze a Rembrandt painting by looking at only a single square inch of the painting, or like trying to analyze Handel's "Messiah" by listening to a few short notes.
The context is absolutely critical to properly interpreting Bible verses.
In interpreting Scripture, there is both an immediate context and a broader context.

    • @ChuddyEsenwa
      @ChuddyEsenwa หลายเดือนก่อน

The immediate context of a verse is the paragraph (or paragraphs) of the biblical book in question. The immediate context should always be consulted in interpreting Bible verses.
The broader context is the whole of Scripture.
The entire Holy Scripture is the context and guide for understanding the particular passages of Scripture.
We must keep in mind that the interpretation of a specific passage must not contradict the total teaching of Scripture on a point.
Individual verses do not exist as isolated fragments, but as parts of a whole.

    • @ChuddyEsenwa
      @ChuddyEsenwa หลายเดือนก่อน

The exposition of these verses, therefore, must involve exhibiting them in right relation both to the whole and to each other. Scripture interprets Scripture.
As J. I. Packer puts it, "if we would understand the parts, our wisest course is to get to know the whole."
