That is very true because David was only rebuked when he took someone's wife but not having more wives. In deuteronomy it says if a man has 2 wives.... There is no where it says God hates polygamy or marrying many wives. On the list of Donts, polygamy is not there.

Jesus Christ is our standard yes and that is why we follow His teaching. Can we decide to die for the sins of others like Jesus? Christians shouldn't marry because Jesus did not marry. Jesus taught on marriage and clearly said some are given grace to marry why others are not (Mt 19:10-12). Everyone should live according to the grace God has given them and this is what we follow as Christians.
Praise God brother. I know you are taking a lot of criticism from people who are not paying attention to what you said here and have no Scripture to back it up. You should get Cam Newton to come for a revival week. He is pro-polygyny. Also bring Michael Satterfield from Fielder church in Ft Worth. Between you and Cam, I believe you can bring him into the fold, and he could preach a good revival series. He has jokingly referred to polygyny in some of his messages. Pull him aside during the week, and show him the Scriptures! I would be eternally grateful if you can successfully pull him into the fold. As added fodder consider what David wrote under inspiration of the Holy Spirit in Psalms 18:21-24, at a time when he had more than one wife! Oh and don't forget toi use Gen 20:6 & 17. I am going to recommend you to Rob Kawalski. You should go on his podcast.

1 Tim 3:2...the man must have been a member of the church before aspiring for the office of a bishop. Yes this verse may suggest that some members were polygamists, but they were not good examples of leadership in the church. Hence, a polygamist cannot be a leader in the church.
