I have to say the technology is pretty impressive... amazing how far they have come, and I guess they will only get better as the system learns more and more
Is it, though? It's mostly following the GPS. That "impressive" turn was on the map. I wanna see how it performs with no GPS.

Super important words people need to learn.
- FSD (full self driving)
- Autopilot (is assistance, can only be used on highways, not in cities were you have people walking, street lights etc) airplains also use autopilot.
- Geofencing (public electric kickbikes for rent are locked to a region based on gps), bmw, mercedes, etc are also geofenced self driving cars.
- Programmed path (buss in Norway are programmed path)

Yep, it's going to be a good future. I can even tell that in my 2022 Toyota with Lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

I think the amazing thing about this technology isn't what it's doing now, but how far it came in just a few years and where it will be in another few years.
It definitely seems like they are the top of the automation race at the moment. Automated taxis, delivery, truck driving, etc. It's coming.
Agreed, It will continue in leaps and bounds now and after watching this, I have no doubt that fully autonomous vehicles will become accepted just like adaptive cruise in the near future and hopefully in the future road fatalities will be a thing of the past.

How is fsd in inclement weather?
The strikes must have originated from the Tesla legal staff. They don’t want someone suing Tesla and blaming the self-driving mechanism when it’s driver carelessness. The five strikes is their way of determining who is responsible enough to keep using the self-driving function.

It is still a beta. If something goes wrong while you're driving, it will set back the whole industry and kill thousands more people (because humans suck at driving)

The shape of the steering "wheel" actually transmits insecurity and hesitancy. If it was 100% round it would look like the car was deciding effortless because our eyes would not see the movement of those indecisions. Major design flaw for a self driving car imo.
Only the plaid has this wheel.

Really hard to guess on this one, perhaps 2035? Millions of lives will be saved, some Orthopaedic surgeons may have to retrain. Disabled Associations will go into somewhat of a decline. Can't wait. Meanwhile, track day racing will probably have a real boom!

My friend if you go with 200kph in city street and crush on things, paid or not for the car police will confiscate it from you as well as your drivers license. So the 5 strikes removal of autopilot, (a tool that is dangerous in a bad driver's hands) is perfectly fine and acceptable punishment!

at 3:55 the visualizer is not the actual volumetric ai. This visualizer is a representation of what is important to you the driver to know the car is seeing, which doesn't always show every object it is aware of. FSD Beta does recognize dogs, proven over years of updates and versions showing dogs. Those dogs were walking away from you and away from the direction you were driving. People should understand that the consumer side visual is just a representation and not the full detailed view of what it can see.
in fact at around 3:56 or 3:57 i do see the dog shown in the visualizer for a moment. So it does show it, just not the entire time.
Tesla needs an app that enlarges the side mirrors

Tesla’s FSD safety rules ensure they aren’t blocked by gov./competition. Caution ensures Tesla can complete FSD development.

I’m not sure what the benefit is if you need to oversee the whole thing. I would not pay for the self driving with all the limitations. There are so many scenarios that people make random moves. I wouldn’t want the liability leaving it up to the car.
The goal is to have the car drive itself with no supervision, and I guess Tesla would take on any liability
That's why it's called a Beta right now, it is not finished software. As expensive as it seems at $15,000, they're going to raise the price to probably over $50,000 once it is real full self driving.
The point of the beta is to have people test it and find all the flaws to iron out.
Well it's called BETA for a reason
I am aware of using people to Guinea pig for testing, but it is unreasonable to charge for a service and then not allow the end user access.

Ok so I going to bring you up to speed on fsd beta first you need to know that there's is two code stacks what that means is when you get on an interstate the code stack changes to navigate on autopilot so they aren't using the fsd beta code on the interstate that will come with v11. Second when you see the original graphics on the screen you know that the car is using navigate on autopilot instead of fsd code. When you see the new graphics you know that the car is using the fsd code

I'm Conflicted as to if Want to buy this thing in the forseable future, what the heckl is gonna happen in the future, all cars are gonna be self autonomous, the marketing for these cars are insane, the newschool fashion icon.
I understand why they design it so the driver has to pay attention still but at the same time I don't see the point in the self driving if you can't do anything besides just look at the road like what's even the point just drive the car yourself. I would want to be able to read or do work stuff if I had a self driving car, seems to kinda defeat the purpose.
If it can drive itself in Indian and Indonesian traffic, then it can be called fully autonomous!!

Tesla self driving vehicles are very reliable. The software they run on is very reliable. They have a very low crash rate percentage. I would be more concerned about the Los Angeles drivers. Plus Tesla vehicles look cool.

Actually, no, I disagree. In the case of TESLA and fsd, fully paying for it and then, out of driver negligence, crash, be aware that some drivers will hold tesla liable and sue them. So no, I don't agree with you and I support the 5 strike rule. It ensures absolute safety and care, on the part of the driver

Tesla should be paying the user for using the beta version. Not the user paying Tesla. The users are the helping them in improving the product!

my boss had purchased the fsd on his performance model 3 and had the car for 11 months and sold it for a c8 corvette and about 3 months after he sold it the beta finally became public so he had wasted the $12k completely.

AFAIK if car is purchased with FSD, the FSD stays with it so if he was able to find a buyer who valued FSD and was willing to pay more for the vehicle….
