    **MY AIR PURIFIER GUIDE: • Best Air Purifiers for...
    Based on my research of the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) website, any NIOSH approved masks with the N, R, and P ratings protects you against pollutions and diseases (airborne biological agents such as bacteria, viruses, germs).
    “P” RATINGS ARE THE BEST
    P ratings project us from pollution and disease but also protect you from oil-based products like some aerosols (spray paint), solvents or pesticides, the oil particles, hazardous mist, and other chemicals from furniture, cleaning supplies, paints, nail polish, and carpets.
    NUMBERS IN THE RATINGS
    Respirators that filter out at least 95% of airborne particles during “worse case” testing using a “most-penetrating” sized particle are given a 95 rating. Those that filter out at least 99% receive a “99” rating. And those that filter at least 99.97% (essentially 100%) receive a “100” rating.
    * N-95, N-99, and N-100; NOT RESISTANT TO OIL
    * R-95, R-99, and R-100; SOMEWHAT RESISTANT TO OIL (1 time use)
    * P-95, P-99, and P-100; Oil PROOF - VERY RESISTANT TO OIL
    HIGHEST LEVEL OF PROTECTION: P100
    The Centers for Disease Control tested N100 and P100 masks for their efficacy against avian flu, swine flu and other contagious diseases and found them to provide superior protection.
    VOG MASK / N99
    Vogmask is highly efficient for keeping known hazardous particles out of the respiratory system especially in dusty, moldy, polluted, post-combustion, high PM, high pollen, wildfire, volcanic particulate matter, and crowded environments.

    Was wearing a mask for a full year before covid due to my allergies and I had received so many weird looks. Once covid is over I will be looked at like a paranoid person even though I have severe respiratory issues due to allergies that cause my throat to swell. Thanks for doing this video. it helped so much.

      Holy hell, this is pretty much what I flipping deal with. From strong perfumes, sprays, to cleaning supplies, birds, hay, YAY! My Drs never really told me what was really wrong. I'd feel like breathing through a straw with another feeling of having something stuck in my throat. I still remember one time I was rushed to a hospital at a dr place and the nurse kept checking my lungs and I kept saying my throat. It took her 5 minutes just to listen and put the scope on my throat, I was pissed.

    The filters in 3M masks by and large use this rule: 30 hrs or 30 days after opening. After that the filters will be needing a replacement or they will significantly be less effective. I worked with them, and sold them in my business for 10 years.

      Good luck! It’s definitely allowed me to increase my activities and quality of life. Again, if you’re only allergic to particles such as dust, pollen, and grass, the N-rating masks will do. If you’re allergic to chemicals and fumes (paint, gas) you’ll need the P-rating and something with a carbon filter layer

    Thanks for your videos Jeffrey. It is inspiring you have been finding your way with such severe allergies. I have severe pollen allergies, which started after I got Covid the first time. I get intense allergic reactions (including asthma) if I go outside even for 10 minutes, also in winter. I have been using 3M Aura masks (FFP2 and FFP3; European certified and comparable to N95 and N99). Yet I am still getting allergic reactions wearing these masks. I will try the elastomeric masks now, including N100 and P100. I really hope this will help me go outside even for small time frames, like buying groceries and walking to the bus stop. To what extent do you need eye protection against allergies? I am wearing swipe anti-fog swimming goggles now, which have silicon seal and seem to cover and protect my eyes fully. Yet with a combination of 3M Aura mask and swimming goggles, I am still getting intense allergic reactions, so elastomeric masks are my only hope left now for full protection outside. In my house I have a BlueAir Healtprotect 7770I purifier (similar quality to IQAir) and I have anti-pollen gauzes for all windows, which thus far protect me from allergies inside.

    I use the 3M 60923 for handling chlorine and muriatic acid for my pool. Seems like serious overkill for routine air filtration. If you need that, you have my compassion, brother. I have severe season allergies to tree pollen and get asthma attacks from trees. I’ve had eczema on my hands and feet for the past year and a half. I don’t have allergies as bad as you do. I’ve had success with a ketogenic diet eliminating allergies. It takes several months of sticking to the dietary lifestyle, but it has worked for me.

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey man, glad to hear of an actual use for 3M 60923. I’ve tried just about every kind and the 60923 has been the most effective for me without cutting off airflow. It’s allowed me to travel and be around pollution, perfume, chemicals, smoke, etc. And thanks for the keto suggestion...since I’m literally allergic to all food, the only food I can eat (with medication) is beef and potatoes, so I don’t really have a choice. Recently I’ve found Italian pasta imported from Italy is tolerable, so I’ve added a bit of that. Otherwise, I’m mostly on a carnivore diet.

    This was very helpful! Over the last year, my asthma has gone from non-symptomatic/mild to moderate/severe. During the summer, I had to get a mask to even breath in my house for a while because we got so much rain where I live, which is highly unusual as we usually have hot, dry summers, and caused an outbreak of mold everywhere. I've never understood the mask ratings until now, and I think my Vogmask enough for me, for now. I think your channel will help me out a lot, thanks!

Was planning to stay 5.5 weeks but now will only be in Europe for 2 weeks because of AirBnb apartment problems (not safe and clean enough for me). Yes, the weather and environment in Northern Europe helps my condition a lot, but it seems the food is also cleaner. In America, when I eat chicken, I will have a bad flareup for 2-3 weeks. In Europe’s I have ate chicken everyday and no flareups. Also, no asthma at all so far. The water is also super clean In Europe so my skin feels softer and healthier after bathing. But I can’t stay in Europe for more than 3 months because of travel Visa, so I need to find somewhere else that’s also clean to visit in the summer when LA is dirty. LA isn’t too bad in the winter.

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Sorry for the late reply. A vogmask or any other with the N95 or N99 rating should work if your asthma isn’t super severe. If you’re reacting to chemicals (VOCs in the video), you’ll need the big thick filters because those filters include a activated carbon layer that filters our chemicals, while the fabrics with N95 or N99 ratings only filter out particles (pollen, smoke, bacteria). Try wearing a vogmask whenever u go out and see if your breathing and overall health improves. I have more energy just because I can breathe better

A lot of times it hard for me to have the energy to keep my environment clean, so just do the best you can. The masks have made it possible for me to go out and be more mobile. Also it’s useful at home like during wildfire season here in california where the smoke even gets indoors. The air purifier are more effective in smaller environments, so try closing doors when you have purifier on.

    Hey Jeffrey, I have a question for you, I have also just ordered a 3M 6500 series respirator like yours in view of the current COVID-19 outbreak, the filter cartridges that I ordered were the 7093 P100 filters, do you think that will be good enough? In other words, I didn't go for the pink combination cartridges that do vapors as well. The COVID-19 virus can be transmitted via aerosol which I assume just a straight P100 particulate filter should be good enough right? I would really appreciate to hear your opinion on this.

      Hi Rabie, hard to say if you need eye protection, just a mask, or if your skin is also reacting. Allergy is complicated. For animal hair, dust particles, the N95 type of mask for COVID should be enough (95 means it captures 95% of all micro particles). You can also try N99 or P100 (captures 99% or 99.99%).

      Hi Mary, sorry to hear about your brother. The pink P100 industrial mask I showed in this video will help, but it’s hard to wear for very long. An air filter with superior carbon pre-filters are most effective against chemicals and fumes like the flea spray. IQair and Alenair filters are the best, but they’re expensive. And these won’t clear his house of the chemicals. The best way is to open all windows and air out the house until the fumes and chemicals are gone. Until then, it’s best if he stays somewhere else. Even with a mask for breathing, The chemicals can still get into his body through his skin.

    I’ve been struggling with a dust mite allergy for a couple years now, used to be monthly-quarterly but now its weekly. I’‘ll stop having symptoms then few days later they start up or I get a cold/flu for a week. It doesn’t matter how much I dust the house, only I do the dusting so I’ve always exposed to it. I’m not aware of any other allergies, just a blood test was done and only dust came back positive. I’m thinking of getting some masks for cleaning, sleeping, studying at home during the day. We have carpet and live in a very hot, humid environment. I wash all bedding and linen regularly and that has helped but I still have low immunity. I used to get minor eczema, but have scalp psoriasis and generally itchy skin without rashes.

      If your only allergies are to dust mites, then any masks with these ratings will work: N95, N99, N100, P95, P99, P100. However, it sounds like you could be reacting to other stuff such as chemicals that may be released from your home’s paint and furniture (see my video about home air purifiers: th-cam.com/video/7aSilBc7dQE/w-d-xo.html ). These chemicals and pollutants are more likely to be released in hot and humid environments. Have you tried the H1 + H2 antihistamine combination from my antihistamine video? ( th-cam.com/video/fRXms7ABzAw/w-d-xo.html ). There are several H1’s and 2 different H2’s to try. Each person is different so you’ll have to see which ones work best for you

      Jeffrey Lin Thanks, to be honest I haven’t really looked into it much. My dr said there’s nothing much to be done and I’ve tried OTC antihistamines which don’t work well and make me super drowsy and nasal sprays seem to do very little except relieve sinus pressure for an hour or so. I’d prefer preventative measures since it will knock me out for days which isn’t suitable for work. Thanks for the recommendations, I’m hesitant to buy anything as I don’t want to waste money but I’ll certainly check out your other videos!

      Ask your doctor about prescriptions for mast cell stabilizers like cromolyn if you haven’t tried it. Mast cells are what produce the histamines, so mast cell stabilizers can reduce the amount of histamines you release when u react, so your reactions won’t be debilitating. Cromolyn is super safe, safer than most OTC meds. Something to look into

      Jeffrey Lin Thanks, I’ll take a look. As I mentioned when getting my blood checked they don’t seem too concerned by it so nothing was looked into despite having multiple throat infections with no known cause within 5 months of this year. The only advice I was given was vitamin C *rolls eyes* I’m actually studying to be a Dietitian so I am aware of the lack of research for many complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs). I’d like to do the skin prick test to identify all the reactions but I’ll have to save up for it.

      Yeah. If you get fix things naturally or by adjusting your lifestyle a bit, obviously that’s the best. Meds always has side effects. However, depending on where you live, there seems to be more pollution and more specifically, toxic pollution from all the electronics we use. Also, there are things in our water (I did a video interview with another patient) in the US and the way our farming is done that can weaken or disrupt our immune system. My health is much better when I travel to Northern Europe. So, if you’re reacting to chemicals and toxins in the environment, that’s actually natural. Just random thoughts from my personal experience but these things are hard to pinpoint for each individual with the medical technology we have at the moment.

    From some of your throw back clips included here, you are sitting in an antique chair and have older style furnishings, not questioning taste but your environment may not be helping you?

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn’t really matter. I react to everything in the world, including weather a week away. Changing the chair would only remove 1 of a million things I react to. I would still react to 999,999 things. And these aren’t antiques...our house is kept very very clean.0

      You'll need the P100 or other masks with activated carbon filters. The carbon pre-filters capture fumes and chemicals. The main filter (95, 99, or 100 rating) would capture 95, 99, or 99.99% of particles floating in the air.

    You should have more reach to people. TH-cam need to promote videos like yours not 10-20 year videos that are just for funny or entertainment view.
    This health issues should be promoted more than anything. Even if they "smell" like advertising for specific products, they should make aware to people about the world we live in today. Not in the past.
    Having the saying that "on my days we didn't need this or that..." or "until now we didn't need that..." is not helping.
    We are living different times every decade we live and maybe lower. The technology is not bringing only benefit, it also brings bad things to people and also to our planet. So, we must update our knowledge and be prepared for what is coming.
    This "premade" coronavirus that is known for more than a decade, is the bear example. That few, small big organizations that will benefit from the world pandemic, is able to come in other forms too.
    The smog, the pollution, the allergens, the "whole new package" that come with new "world" needs to be understanded by all of us and be prepared for new "things" that are results of our actions in the new way of living.
    Cheers man, and if all you live is pain and you also manage to live with that, i can't do more than saying: HATS OFF TO YOU!
    Be well, the way you can do it and till next time!
    I just hope that this is not just a "fake" video for youtube to promote some products. I hope you understand my "fears" regarding fake content on youtube or internet nowadays.
    And i must repeat: If you really have all this issues, i just pray you live longer and have a good life in the way you can have it. I love watching your videos. Just found you few hours ago and viewed more of them, which helped me to understand better things i thought i knew until now.
    So, until a point you really helped. And i subscribed just to have more good info from you.
    Cheers again and be well as well as you can!

    I recently stumbled upon the following information and was wondering whether you had any experience with this particular molecule, which is a non-psychoactive part of marijuana:
    "There are myriad medical uses attributed to CBD, and the list keeps growing. Here are some uses that have recently been scientifically documented.
    Allergic asthma - "CBD treatment decreased the inflammatory and remodeling processes in the model of allergic asthma," according to the European Journal of Pharmacology"
    Now, CBD and marijuana in general are big enemies of Big Pharma as they reduce their profits ("Poisoned Profits") thus I am inclined to believe that patients' testimonies about CBD benefits carry high level of credence. But I am sure you tried everything, probably CBD as well. If so, what is your personal experience wit it? Does it reduce anxiety, improves sleep, improves PTSD, etc? There are now CBD edibles as well such as chocolates, teas etc. Did you try any of these products by any chance? God Bless!

      Yeah a lot of people have suggested various versions of CBD or marijuana, but I’m allergic to them all. I need to do a video sometime to discuss this as many other people with severe allergies also react to cbd and marijuana but because of the social movement for cbd, we are attacked when we say we’re allergic. Cbd has become some fanatical movement where you can’t say anything negative about it.

      @@JeffreyLin I remember once I discussed supplements with a top dermatologist, a professor at a university. During presentation, he mentioned he had a patient who took a simple E vitamin and had a reaction. Because at that time I was researching naturopathy and in an office of a naturopath I learned about Thorne Research brand. I visited their web site and there I found out about importance of the so called non-medical ingredients. In short, that things like mg stearate, titanium dioxide, talc, maltodextrin (fancy name for corn, a known allergen), and dozens of others that are regularly used as fillers in supplements industry are bad. I was convinced that it was not vitamin E that caused reaction, but rather some filler within the capsule. After all, vitamins are in food and we eat that food for millions of years. As I just started to research CBD oils, I quickly got overwhelmed with 1000s of sites and products. Then on a forum, I found out about the following:
      cbdoilusers.com/best-cbd-oil-without-thc/
      What if the allergic reaction is cause by some non-CBD ingredient of the product consumed? The products on that site all have 0% THC, but that means only 0 from the perspective of FDA e.g. less than 0.2% i.e. if someone is allergic to THC (psychoactive part), then he is not safe even with this purity. When you tried CBD oil and got reaction, did you try pure CBD issolate or broad spectrum CBD (with terpenes etc)? Did you take it sublingualy, or as vape, or as an edible?
      My assumption is that absolutely pure CBD should not cause allergic reaction due to the fact that there are cannabinoid receptors in the brain i.e. it is a natural mechanism to balance out other neurotransmitters. It is more likely that something that it is not CBD, but present in the CBD product, caused an allergic reaction.
