Dropped a new motor in my 2002 Chevy s10 4x4 zr2 and couldn’t figure out what the issue was. I changed EVERYTHING new but it still ran like crap. Took it to autozone to run a diagnostic on there little-code reader and everything that I replaced new was showing bad. Guy there told me I got to reset the computer... so I did what this guy did on this video and it worked like a charm. Truck runs tits and the check engine light even turned off. It did take about 5 minutes of driving to work it’s self out cause at first it seemed to have a little misfire but after a few miles it smoothed out. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼✌️

I have a 1996 astro that sat for awhile due to needing a new fuel pump. The fuel pump has been replaced and you can hear it prime. Now it won't start, yet ran fine before it sat. Do you think the ECM needs to be reset and reprogrammed like you did in the video? I'll try this tomorrow to see if it works. Glad I stumbled across this. Thanks!

    1. Turn ignition on.
    2. Attempt to start the engine, and then release the key to the “ON” position.
    3. Observe the “SECURITY” indicator light. After 10 minutes the “SECURITY” indicator light will turn off.
    4. Turn ignition to the “OFF” position, and wait 10 seconds.
    5. Attempt to start the engine, and then release the key to the “ON” position.

    9. Observe the “SECURITY” indicator light. After 10 minutes the “SECURITY” indicator light will turn off.
    10. Turn ignition to the “OFF” position, and wait 10 seconds.
    11. Vehicle has now learned the new password. Start the engine.

Howdy Deboss! My 2003 Chevy Avalanche Base model the ECM died, I have no digital display or instrument readings. I'm considering on buying a rebuilt from Cardone for part no. 77-2605F. I'e been reading all the negative reviews that say you have to take the part to a dealer and have it reprogrammed prior to installing the rebuilt part. Is this video basically the reprogramming (flash) sequence once the part has been installed?

great informative video. thanks... i have similar issue- purchased new module today, followed steps in video, 2004 yukon fired right up.
test drove it, runs great, but still have a slight batt drain and dashboard lights do not turn off with key removed. also- turn signal lights on front make the driving lights blink... not the orange ones. thinking bad ground somewhere?
was going to pull all the bulbs and try again to re-create the issue to try and narrow it down? any hints/tips/tricks as to what may be still causing a batt drain? already replaced the following: battery X2, +/- batt cables, ignition X2, pulled and checked starter, pulled entire dashboard off but didn't see anything weird, checked all fuses and relays, checked all mechanical grounds going to battery, all fine... now a light bulb issue with a brand new flashed ECM and programmed it like you said, mechanically, it runs great..
any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I would try it again when you're not so frustrated when you get frustrated you tend to forget things especially when your heated you tend to forget things a lot quicker. I would listen to this video again and make sure you wrote down exactly how he said to do it! Then I would double-check it double check it again and double-check it one last time then I would check it one final final time. After you did all that I would check all four of the times that you wrote down and make sure all four of them sync up together. By doing this you know for a fact that everything was written down correctly. Then I would have somebody help you inside the vehicle to tell you when to do the steps it might help. If not when you do it yourself have everything written down on a piece of 🗞️📜 . Then after you have written it down get a stopwatch ⏱️ or take your cell phone out and use the stopwatch feature 90% of Android phones or iOS phones have this feature. Try it again I had the same problem years ago but I was doing it wrong and I thought 💭🤔 I was doing it write. My Girlfriend Told me to RE------------- Check Every Thing . So I recheck everything and I was doing it wrong and I really thought with out a doubt I was doing it the right way. So recheck your work it wouldn't hurt just to try it again you might be surprised like I was good luck 🤞

Does this procedure clear out the VIN? If I use it on my original ECM will I be causing a problem? I disconnected and opened my ECM because I get a message "No J1850 Activity" and sometimes "Reduced Engine Power" on my 2005 Workhorse P42 Step Van. It has a GM 4.8L Gas engine. I opened up the ECM and there was moisture inside and a lot of corrosion on the circuit board between the interface pins (the pins leading out to the two connectors). I cleaned the corrosion off with a toothbrush and toothpick and put it back in the vehicle. I still got the J1850 error and it started once, on the first try (it had always started before I did this). But after that, it will only click a relay. No starter movement.

I have a different issue. U seems smart so figured I'd ask here. My truck is 06 Chevy LT 5.3L. I think bad ecu but not sure. Sometimes when driving itll shoot temp gauge up and down erratically, the computer registers these readings and sometimes throws truck into reduced power mode. I've checked with aftermarket gauge and it isnt actually overheating, and my voltmeter also going between 13v to 15v fluctuantly.. I've replaced temp sensor alternator battery water pump thermostat etc. Shop said nothing is wrong that they can find except overcharging alternator. What else could this be?

I'm stranded at Pep Boys with my 1997 GMC Sierra 3500 pickup truck in Hollywood California store number 0 6 0 4 they changed my fuel pump a month ago... it went out .. fuel pump relay was loose I'm back at the store. They tightened up the relay connection behind fuse box now. I think it's throttle position sensor they're planning on changing currently the entire tank pump unit and the motor pump instead of as they did previously just a pump motor only. Initially old pump with 7 lb and then new pump was 7 lb. Deemed by chance defective. I don't think so. Service engine soon light started coming on after difficult start with starter fluid then light turning off after a couple hours while driving.. with subtle occasional dropouts of motor while driving... until I wound up hear back at the store. This is just a trivia puzzle for someone interested... of course they can't figure it out with admission yesterday . .one of the managers.. hopefully Pep Boys . They just won't listen to me.. possibly understandable.. I'm not showing them my Grassroots degree in my hand... this is Fiasco as I lose money without my truck.. I'm trying to transcend vindictive energy. Just want my truck running.

    • @lengua199
      @lengua199 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Probably, but usually it's not an issue. Only when it's a much different VIN number, the shop can get into trouble, because the DMV will think they are using a different car for the emissions. My friend used to work for a shop, and he told me if you want to use a different vehicle for the test, it has to be the same make, year and model. That will pass, of course!!!

The scanner said it was the fuel pump and another buddy's scanner said it was a short circuit. I ran out of ideas maybe you can help. Ok so when I put the key on the ignition and do the 1st turn it automatically cranks without me trying and it stays trying to start but never starts. I have to remove they key in order for it to start. Any ideas. It sounds like it does wants to turn on but it's just steady cranking

My brothers truck started that way but the starter quit after it was running. My Tahoe does it once and a while. Usually after I wash it. I would start with checking your battery. If it is older than 4 years, change it. Clean all your grounds and battery clamps
