Best I ever had is Literally Drake's first hit song that blew him up lol
I bet u will listen to every song b 4 u even listen to best I ever had
28 know I remember driving with my rents from Toronto to Miami. Yup, pulled into a mall type, they had best ever I had playing. Crazy
No it isn’t, right above it is what blew him up
@@Swerv_uceaingg
hes a normie
You should listen to “Thank Me Later”. It’s a project most people overlook but there are still some gems on there.
100%. Super underrated album.
was just listening to it and then this video pops up. shits crazy
YA-YOU? CAN THANK ME NOW, GO ‘HEAD is forever stuck in my head
@@wuhansam THANK ME LATER YEA I KNOW WHAT I SAID BUT LATER DOESNT ALWAYS COME SO INSTEAD ITS UH-OKAY
CLASSIC
My favorite drake album honestly
Lost all credibility with the “Best I Ever Had” analysis. That song is the main reason I started fucking with drake. Shit was a classic in the streets. Wow 😳
It’s good dudes throw that classic shit around way too much not even top 10 drake song
It sucks now
To be fair, keep in mind he has no nostalgia and memories attached to the song. To him its just an old school pop R&B track, and especially compared to the drake he's used to and the more solid projects he's came out with, its not a great DRAKE track for him.
Produced by Kanye West
@@WesleyParksTTV i believe find your love is the only track kanye has produced for drake, boi-1da produced best i ever had.

You're a real one.
So far gone is a classic. No wonder people freaked out when Drake finally put the mixtape on the streaming. A pure classic.
Anyone who listens to this back then wasn't surprised when Drake started to go "rnb" on nothing was the same
not one day goes by where I don’t play this album lol I remember first hearing this when I was like 10. Absolute 10/10
Yo forreal, like both on both on Take Care and NWTS
bria's interlude the best interlude ive ever heard
Facts
Cece’s? 🔥🔥
Buried alive imo
Uptown is still a classic today.. “hardly home but always reppin” is iconic.
For real
Little Bit is so underrated 😭
Classic
I gotta disagree that Coldplay sample is fire and the whole song is a classic also Best I Ever Had is one of the best songs on the album. Uptown is also a classic absolute heat.
This dude really said best i ever had was the worst song😭😭
Yea back then it was incredibly innovative and the sounds were just so different and drakes rapping was all around new. Classic
This album was more about vibes and that aesthetic cloudy sound that him and 40 created. Comeback season is way more lyrical than this. Maybe his most lyrical performance ever on an album
Yo you're definitely not wrong about that hey, like idk personally I felt like If you're reading this was probably the perfect combination of Comeback Season and So Far Gone in terms of the rapping and singing element and near perfect production if not probably was at its peak tbh as it only just got better and better at that point. Though as much as I enjoyed Views, I always end up going back to IYRTITL, NWTS, few Take Care and some jams from So Far Gone of course... Plus there's always the single tracks like Free Spirit, Club Paradise especially cause that was the prelude to Take Care if anything.. the hunger and message from that track resonated within me, was already a big fan of his work at that point though I only delved into his records round Xmas time back in 2010 so was up to date when Take Care came through and when I heard Club Paradise, that's probably when I saw the same vision in terms of where he was gonna go musically. Could literally see and hear the potential, which is why when tracks like 0-100 or Charged up came round I could sense the same vibe but just more mature though the blueprint or more so the best elements of Comeback Season, So Far Gone and app those prior records I feel like he's just adapted or more accumulated on top of those elements and just delved into it more though more so trying to merge both elements to a point where it sounded so amazing sonically which you then have amazing records like NWTS and IYRTITL.. even Take Care or at least for me, that album really set the tone for me honestly. So glad he delved into this record though, actually been waiting for him to listen to So Far Gone to the point that I could envision his face and the tracks he liked and didn't like.. love your work Jon as always. 🙏💫❤️
You know your shit. The bars on comeback season was different. Prolly why it's still my favorite project by him
jon being uk & all he doesn't understand the context of this mixtape, the rap game, what music sounded like in America, the underground, Wayne being hot as fish grease etc. also the fact that take care is the sequel to so far gone. they're literally structured the same way he just got more confident & better at rapping
Best I ever had is undoubtedly CLASSIC I’m surprised by your reaction Jon
November 18th and Bria’s Interlude are ELITEEEEEEE songs by Aubrey 🔥🔥🔥🔥
FACTS
It's incredible how Drake's voice has changed so much over the years. He sounded extremely nasal back then.
@@Ladtyuven223 yeah he def started out as a Wayne clone with a better singing voice, crazy how far he’s come
Idk if most people agree with this or not, but I prefer Drake’s voice in the first half of his career to everything more recently
Happens to every artist. The voice is a muscle, the body changes and artists get more comfortable in front of the mic.
@@Ladtyuven223 You could def tell his Wayne influence but his biggest influence was really Phonte. That man gifted him his entire delivery/flow. We gotta give props where it's due.
@@Ladtyuven223 drake doesn’t have a signature sound, he borrows a lot
This mixtape was a game changer in the 2010's. Jon wasn't there to experience its impact so I can't blame him for his take on it. 10 out of 10 for me tho 🤷🏾♂️
Not 2010s. This is that 2009 sound right here. The year of huge musical shifts.
Best I Ever Had is a top 5 Drake song but it’s your opinion.
no.
Horrible take words of a radio drake fan not even top ten
Top 5 iconic not best
Top 5 most important Drake songs*
@@BigScoobJ okay yeah I can get behind that. that makes more sense
That “Best I Ever Had” reaction was out of pocket 😭
Bruh you had me dyin with this comment😂
Facts
13:40💀💀😭
November 18th is so fire and so is every song sampled in it. Jermaine Dupri and DJ Screw went crazy 🔥
Gotta do thank me later next. So many classics on that.
I really don’t think the “creepy” lines are creepy at all.
If the weeknd said any of those lines he'd love em lmao. Just nitpicking for no reason
same bro!! like drake out here living a different lifestyle, he gonna say things and have interactions with woman that the average person isnt. if these lines "creepy" sheeeiitt we all creepy then lol
@@dbnarutoss3 i love jon but this is facts a lot of the time, maybe with the exception of a couple.
@@dbnarutoss3 literally
@@dbnarutoss3 fact. Every drake song or album he nitpicks or makes fun of him, then says he loves Drake lol.
This album is all about being in the moment when it dropped it changed the whole game , I don’t think he understands what the album did for the culture
He never could because he wasn’t there for it and hiphop has progressed so much since then. You hear heaps of dark rnb these days but the fact is that nobody had ever heard anything like that until Weeknd came out with House of Balloons in 2011.
Lmao this album really made it cool for rapper to sing, and be more vulnerable. Pivotal
Not just the culture of music the culture of Toronto he showed the world Toronto the sound of Toronto if your from Toronto those vibes and feelings from listening to these songs r different fr idk if anyone ourside Toronto can relate to it
So Far Gone is sooo underrated
This is a classic. Love the reaction Jon!
I dont like the reaction
He said best i ever had was the worst
bria’s interlude is a classic idgaf
The Calm one of Drakes best tracks.
Lykke is loved by so many hip hop artists. She's such a legend
very surprised you didn’t like best i ever had… that’s a classic and the song that basically put him on
i’m so early the time stamp guy isn’t even here yet
This is one of drakes most powerful and truest line. Really shows how he pioneered vulnerable rapper sound
When my album drop, bitches'll buy it for the picture
And niggas'll buy it too and claim they got it for they sister
THIS IS THE ONE! 😭 This came out on my birthday, I was 11 and I fell in love! Everyone knows man or woman are singing their hearts out to all these tracks 😭
Man I really wished he listened to this during the fall/winter time, cause then this is a whole different vibe. KlassiK mixtape.
“Best I ever had seems like a decade ago,
Decadent flow, when I still got a decade to go”
OMG YES I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS ONE
I mean it’s cool you reviewed but I can’t accept this version on SFG without Fear. Top 5 drake record, introspective rap verse and sung hook it’s the drake formula perfected at his infancy
Not to mention that horn beat goddamn
Houstatlantavegas put me in a trance back then. This whole Album was a mad vibe bro😌🔥🤞🏽
I think "Let's call it off" is one of Drakes best songs lol.
Those R&B joints also did the job back then. Brand New. A Night Off. Sooner than Later. Bria’s Interlude. Boy oh boy let me tell you!
classic songs on this one for sure.
JUST FINISHED THE BRENT REACTION LETS GOO
since you have reacted to this you 100000% need to react to Comeback Season
I'm so happy you find how funny Wayne is.
I never fully understood when people say you just had to be there and live through it for you to feel it differently until watching this just now. I hope that made sense lol
Congratulations is my favorite song from this album because I used to drive home an hour from work and bump it heavy.
There’s just something different bout this album man… Claaaassic!!! 😩🔥
you should peep the new Young Thug NPR Tiny Desk vid! Its a sneak peek at 4 songs off of Punk + a live band
that shit was so fucking hard young thug is a legend icl
Drake’s pen was slick back then too, you should listen to comeback season, less singing on that mixtape.
To be fair, especially for this album you need to have an R&B mentally than a rap mentality to really enjoy the project. To only expect bars and wit in these tracks would have you not enjoying it as much. Even then, aside from best I ever had, most people wouldn't put this in their top 5 drake projects, so fair analysis.
Agreed with everything but that last sentence. I think most people look back at this mixtape as classic in more ways than quality and I think they rank it accordingly.
Most day 1 drake fans have this project at if not #1 then 2 in his discography.
That little warm up before Trey starts successful 👌
As a record, in terms of sound, this was like nothing that had come before
This album doesnt age well, so if you werent around when it dropped in its era / time period, it wont hit properly for you.
The fact is that hiphop and Drake in particular’s sound has come a long way since then. Look at the artists that were running hiphop in 2009 and then in 2016. The progression was wild.
Exactly!! Tbh it felt dated as hell when I last listened to it in 2016 lol this was really a sound for the moment & nothing else
@@Hawaii567 definitely wouldn’t go that far
Wow this is still my fav project by him I dont think it aged badly at all
@@hailmaary8616 if you loved it when it dropped, you prolly enjoy it more based off nostalgia than actual enjoyability. I didnt care for the project when it came out because it wasnt as complex or impressive as people made it to be, so ive never NOT looked at it like that.
Housatlantavegas had me in a choke hold. It was my faveeeee song
I suggest you listen to "Room for Improvement" that Drake back then had some very nice bars.
It's funny how the perception of music changes through the years, it's why I always say you can only truly experience music if you listen to it when it comes out, context matters. FYI Brand New was THE Drake song back when this came out. It was a huge track.
I still love that Mr Feeney bar
Legendary album
13:02 HOW HAS HE NOT HEARD THIS 😭😭
Jon Denton takes sometimes are so crazy some times
I don't agree with most of his opinions on this album, it was fire instantly
I was so excited because for some reason I thought he was reacting to Thank Me Later because I didn’t really read the title 🤣 that has to the next reaction Thank Me Later is such a good album
NOVEMBER 18th IS MY FAV TRACK (also my b-day)
same
Sameee Nov 18th my day and song
Easily the best song on here
me too 🙇🏽♂️
@@callumdin9489 we’re elite😏
FINALLY WE NEED THE THANK ME LATER ONE
Little bit is one of my favorites
We need Ghetts "Conflict of Interest" next plzzzz Lord Jon
Yesss what a choice some actual gems on here!!!
Need to do thank me later which is his debut studio album.
Was “Fear” not on So Far Gone ? One of my favorite tracks a no show 😐
Listen to Comeback Season, it's such a good listen because you really get to hear his original influences like Phonte/Little Brother and Slum Village. Also, it's a shame that the official version of this tape doesn't have the song Fear, that's arguably my favorite song from this Drake era. Very similar to The Calm.
listen to closer to my dreams. classic Aubrey track from that comeback season era with amazing soul
AS A HOUSTONION
NOVEMBER 18 still listen to it to this day
Nah that Best I Ever Had reaction was meant for Unstoppable 🤣🤣🤣
Nothing beats hearing this for the first time. In the actual time that it first dropped. Wondering if drake would drop some heat. Nothing beats a first impression.
little bit is so fye bruh
John you should do his first album,is verry good you will enjoy it a lot
Houstaltvages is probably my top 5 drake song
It’s definitely up there
YOU have to listen to HNDRXX from FUTURE, a really great album, my favorite cuz there are a lot of great melodies, more chilled, you will love Jonh
Lil Wayne: How many features do you want me to do on your new mixtape?
Drake: Yes.
Uptown and Best I Ever Had are still 2 of Drakes best ever songs
say whats real.. i think that was the first time i heard drizzy
Gotta listen to this a few time bro this one of them ones that you gotta sit with
This mixtape went over your head, but it’s okay Jon
Yessss more of the GOAT 🐐 Drizzy Drake
Jon you gotta do comeback season 🔥
congratulations my favorite track in the album its creative asf i mean who would sample coldplay in a rap song
Best I ever had, had me following drakes music the first time I heard it way back when
1. Fear is the better “bonus” track. Idk it’s not there. 2. Best I ever had is a classic!
Lmao but let the weeknd say “you dont need no one else” and he’s a musical genius. Be consistent Jonathan.
Ignorant shit is one of my favorite drake songs ever, Wayne killed it so did Drake
You need to react to UGK. You see how they changed hip hop.
COMEBACK SEASON!;
It’s quite incredible seeing how big an influence 808s and heartbreak had on rap, listening to this album you can see that that album quite literally birthed Drake
Eh, drake was already starting this type of music before 808s came out. So Kanye was mostly just taking from the underground and showing it to the world. Basically drake and kid cudi influenced Kanye to make 808s which pushed the genre forward. It’s kinda a fallacy to believe that Kanye influenced cudi and drake, it’s the other way around and Ye just took them under his wing
Unpopular opinion af
You are tripping on best I ever had
People butthurt someone didnt have the same opinion as him. Chill it's one dudes opinion.
I feel like the Internet/Drake haters really influenced Jon in his come up from metal head to hip hop head. He doesn’t understand the impact this tape had back in the day.
If u been listening to this since 09 then yes best I ever had is definitely last song u looking up
jon the only reactor i can binge watch for hours 😭 he need to do more brent faiyaz frfr
This tape really changed rap. Its not an exaggeration. I just remember you couldnt go anywhere without someone playing it. Men, women, it didnt matter. Cant even begin to tell you how much dorms/parties I was hanging out in and its all the girls wanted to hear. Really a moment in time.
damnnnnnnnnnnnnn this ur first time u lucky af
I signed up for Patreon because I like the videos like myself, uncut
I usually agree with my guy Jon on so many of his reactions but some of my favorite most memorable tracks on this album that I can still remember playing non stop are the ones he didn’t like 😂
I wasn't sold on Drake until i heard November 18 and Uptown
Uptown is the best song on the mixtape
Hey Jon I know you probably won't see this but I think you should review Kano's Hoodies All Summer, think you'll really like it
