My first trip with my parents was to PR. Hope residence recover from the hurricane and life gets better soon. Perhaps Sprawl and over development is not a good idea in flood prone areas. The homes in Old San Juan have stood for a century and are built to last. Prayers for the people of Puerto Rico.
We're Boricuas, not Puerto Rican.. That is a name given by the white's. If you were born on the island then you're a Boricua. The original island name was Boriken. But then the Europeans changed the name to Puerto Rico and created the Jones Act bill, to make the island into a port of trades and ship imports. I wish people would stop using the term Puerto Rican. It completely erases the history of our Taino ancestors and it white washes the existing Boricuas..
Abuelita had to take me back to Chicago that year because mom preferred I study in this Cold-blooded city. What's more saddening r the comments about how nice and pretty everything was on the Island. We can still make it nice and pretty on the Island, it's gonna take a small REVOLUTION to make it so. 🖤🇵🇷. Amor Boriken
Me encantó.
Haidee Ramos yo deje a Puerto Rico en1962. Que bello era mi coamo. Ponce st Isabel San Juan ahora es todo concreto. Me gusta Colombia me siento como en la isla.
My God those days looked so beautiful. It is amazing how beautiful everything was then. It was surely a different time. What the hell has happened to this world? This footage is a treasure. I wish there was more information on who took said footage and was the trip for business or pleasure or maybe both? My God this is magical, this footage is a gem.
That is because of the corrupted politicians and governments from the island and the gringoland. PR was used as a Latin American showcase of the gringo imperialism and colonization. Now it is a left over and sacked old American colony deep in debt and the working class living in the island are suffering the most because they are practically paying the debt. The gringo imperialist government did not audit the corruption and the collectors are filling their pockets with the high interest rate. Statehood or independence are the only two options, the Commonwealth of PR was left out of juice and now is dead in debt. PR still a beautiful island with the best rum in the world.
@@Southern_Delaware Edwin are you living in the land of imperialism or in PR? I’m sure you don’t mind those capitalist imperialist dollars in your pocket. 100% there with you. It's the royalty free TH-cam music which has much to be desired. I play my own music in the background when viewing old films and it's pretty interesting how different songs change the mood. I'd love to watch this one again with a music suggestion from you playing in the background. Got one?
Truly Puert Rico is a treasure to be appreciated. Its people are beautiful. The mountains and landscape unequaled.

Great video, and I love the music, its perfect for the grainy, nostalgic feeling of the video.
