Interesting that Ben keeps referring to it as a tent during the whole review. Thanks for the comprehensive review and it looks very suitable for those who find traditional swags a bit claustrophobic and at a competitive price compared to some other suppliers offering a similar option.
Yeah, I even corrected myself during filming a few times, but it does have a lot of tent features. Kind of fits a grey area between tent and swag. We have a Podcast episode coming up where we discuss this topic, keep an eye out for it on the Snowys Camping Show. ~ Ben
I think these fit a similar category. Our customers either love or hate the RS1, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. These DS swags offer something different again. ~ Ben
Very interesting swag/tent hybrid. I am curious how the set up and take down compares to a standard swag. Hopefully another video is coming demonstrating set up and packing away.
Beauty of a swag is that it's simple to roll out and use. Relatively speaking this DS-1 looks too complicated and far too many pegs to set up for my liking. Good for Oztent for trying to innovate though. Who knows, they might get it right and design a product that will revolutionise the industry like their original 30 second tent.
I too think it's great that they are putting new products into the market rather than following suit with what already exists, which just creates more white noise in a category. I quite like this swag, it has a lot of tent features that make it more suited to a wider range of climates than many traditional swags. ~ Ben
I like how Oztent is thinking outside the box and continue to innovate. Not sure this will be a big seller however, might be a dud like the RS1. Love the pockets in the corners and hope others will follow worth the same idea.
I reckon this will be popular, Padma, it offers something different to the norm... I guess time will tell. I too like that Oztent are thinking outside the box, rather than just creating more of the same. ~ Ben
@@SnowysOutdoors and Dud is a bit harsh, I loved the concept of RS1 and almost bought one till I heard about poor ventilation. Would be awesome in canvas. I hope it does sell well Ben, company deserves the success for innovation alone.
@@SnowysOutdoors it’s a heavy price to pay for some darkness. My hiking 2 pax is 1.5kg, and with a thick mat it’d go maybe 6kg. It’s handled 120km wind with torrential rain. Each to their own I suppose.
its not designed to carry on your back lol.....as a fisherman on the beach these things are great for a sleep in I love it and at 150 dollars its a no brainer@@mmmbass6068
Like your videos but can't see the point of these. Have a RV tent and they are brilliant. Also had a RS1 swag and they are a total waste of time. Mat was so uncomfortable and barely non existant and the internal inining of the fabric causing so much condenstaion it was like waking up in a swimming pool.
It won't suit everyone, but I love that Oztent are thinking outside the box with their products rather than just producing more of the same. This swag gives you the versatile living benefits of a hiking tent combined with the durability of a swag. ~ Ben
Some cool features. But calling it a swag? Naaaaaa, not even once, even Ben called could help but call it a tent several times throughout the video 🤣🙌🏾
Yeah, I corrected myself multiple times during filming too, Task. It does have a lot of tent features, and it's nice to see something different rather than just minor redesign of something that already exists. I like that Oztent are innovating. ~ Ben

I must say that my RS-1 swag is still a winner. 🤙🏻

Watch this space, Jonathon, they set up really easily, video coming soon. ~ Ben
Thanks for the comprehensive review.
Has anyone tried setup on a stretcher?
If it works then ‘swent’ and stretcher combo would be great
It would be hard on a stretcher s the swag isn't freestanding. ~ Ben

are there distributors/dealers in the USA?
Oztent is in the USA, Marc, their website would be a good place to start your research - oztent.com/. ~ Ben
Does this need seasoning prior to use?
No need to season this, Andrew, it's good to go straight out of the box. ~ Ben

Nearly 10kg !!!
That's about middle of the range for single swags, mmm BASS!, I'd say 10Kg is pretty good considering the quality of this swag. ~ Ben

@@SnowysOutdoors yeah, I respect their innovation and it's something that leads to the niche gap between swag and tent
