Amazing player but even the striker needs to be dynamic and press with the team now, as with the best teams in Europe now. He just doesn’t have the legs for it anymore. Not for 90 minutes. There might be one or two teams with tactics that suit him but none of the top clubs.

after united lost to arsenal there are already shouts of sacking ten hag, united's fanbase is impatient, ole had probably the best away record for united and finished 2nd with that team and took them to europa finals but he was sacked because of a rough stint around november 2021
united under ten hag till now hasn't seen a big rough patch (5-7 games winless), the longest united went winless is of 3 games which had a 7-0, loss to liverpool, 0-0 draw to southampton and 2-0 loss to newcastle

I knew it was going to end poorly at Manchester United due to player power and the Glazers not giving a shit about Manchester United. Mourinho won silverware and finished 2nd with one of the worst squad ever made and had the board and fans properly backed him then no question we would be challenging for the Premier League title by now. Too bad, we sided with the cancerous players and lived in fantasy of Ole being the man to win the Premier League title. Completely agree that he should've replaced Ferguson. I don't think it would've prevented United's decline long term, but it would've slowed it down. The squad was better suited to him in 2013 & the league was weak, he'd of finished top 4 at least for a few years (until Pep took over City). Going from 1st to 7th created a panic chain reaction you never recovered from.
His drawing power was also the best way to capitalize on your appeal to players in the market that was only ever going to diminish after Ferguson, and Woodward hadn't been burnt yet (would've given Mourinho a lot more freedom to shape the squad). You'd have got the likes of Kroos, Fabregas, Di Maria would've been better, Matic when he could still move, Sneijder probably, etc... the squad his successor inherited by around 2016 would've been MUCH better, had at least a few players in it that any manager would like to build around.

The distance between United getting back to glory and where they are is the board. It's the board that has kept this club in the mad because of their mismanagement. Unless a new board is put in place, it will be hard for this club to get back. Because even during ETH's reign, the same board hasn't given him enough support but they expect him to compete with the likes of City, Arsenal and other big clubs in England.
