I was in a HS band and we tried playing this song. It took us 8 hours that day over and over until the final take we did hit the mark (for high school kids). But the rest of the day was filled with errors, missed sections, incorrect rhythms and fudged keyboard parts...lol. Epic.
I was recently introduced to this phenomenal cover band. I am loving and binging. But, seeing their incredible individual talent, I hope they each have their own independent musical endeavours to showcase their own personal abilities outside of cover-notoriety. Rocky's voice in this tune is more masculine than Ged's. I love it!
Be cool or be cast out....I've been a fan since 1980....thank you for covering my 3 knuckleheads......very well done. Do middletown dreams, which is my favorite Rush song....there I said it!
Rush was my first concert ever. R40 tour, rush's last tour before retiring. My dad, brother, and I love rush. If y'all ever tour and come to denver we'll definitely be there!
Love the echo effect on Rocky's vocals in some spots. Dam you all are so spot on with this ! I can't wait to see you play some day. Have to come out from Chicago soon.
Can't wait to see these guys in Adelaide August 2024. Being in Oz, we never had the privilege of witnessing Rush on stage. And this band is amazing, my choice out of all the plethora of Rush tribute bands. Good to see the guitarist rocking the Gibson Lifeson signature Les Paul. Not a cheap guitar. Sadly out of my price range, but I probably wouldn't do it justice anyway.😢🤓👍 RIP Neil Elwood Peart.
@@MoodLiftersRushTribute I really hope we make it worth your while to come play for us. Rush was never played on the commercial radio stations, therefore it's mostly musicians who loved their music(and I for one, 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 questioned Rush's honesty 🤓). I never really listened to those "15 songs on high rotation" stations anyway, and the only time I ever heard Rush on the radio was when I was in someone else's car, and suddenly there was a snippet of " The Big Money" being used on a promo for one of that stations "on air" competitions! All of 8 seconds worth. I rang the station and said that I wasn't interested in their silly competition, but I'd appreciate it if they played an entire Rush song. Even if it was for that one time. Unsurprisingly, my request was ignored. Rush didn't fit their "algorithm". And that was fine, because I would've hated to hear any Rush song sped up slightly and not played in it's entirety. Don'tcha just 𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘷 commercial radio?😂
@@zwastiunburzy3688 Rush didn't get much airplay in the US in their early days - they had to build their following the hard way - through touring. The fact that they never came to Aus. gave the radio stations the ability to ignore them and vice versa. We're hoping people who do not consider themselves Rush fans come out just to see something new (to them), because they will find it to be an intriguing, fun, and in some ways fascinating show! But thanks for the note, and please spread the word with anyone you think might want to come to the show. It is going to be a blast!
@@MoodLiftersRushTribute I'm already telling everyone I know, and I have been getting some good interest. I know Adelaide is a very musician based city, quite a few bands that "made it" in Australia and elsewhere started in our humble little town, and I've seen posters up in musical instrument stores promoting the show. I think the house is gonna be rocking along with you guys in August. 👍
Spot on, you guys all killed it as always. Rocky's really starting to get down there on those lower vocals, she's always stellar in the high range stuff and it was nice to hear how she is really starting to get in the pocket of the lower range tunes.
The 2nd song ever that I’d learned as a young 15 yo in 1984 when I transitioned from accordion to keyboards, including both solos. What was the FIRST song I ever learned on keyboards you ask? The year was 1984. Van Halen released an album that year with a hit single, the first release…!
Love this! Rush is my favorite band ever! I’ve been playing/covering their stuff since I saw them on the Hold Your Fire tour in ‘87 when I was 15. Your sound is fantastic. Two (unsolicited, possibly unwanted, but hopefully appreciated) thoughts on moving closer to perfection in your sound: If the (amazing) singer would drop her “R”s and replace them with “aah”s she’d both capture Geddy’s Canadian accent and make it easier to hold the notes until precise cutoff. A sharp cutoff with the “r” sound at the end of each word that ends in r gives it the rhythmic punctuation Geddy has. The only other thing I noticed was the drummer (who kicks ass) was pushing tempo. Put a click to him and then to Neal live and you’ll see this drummer moves about 11 bpm between the beginning and the end of the song. It makes it feel like everyone else can’t quite keep up with the drummer even though they sound awesome. I personally think those two tweaks would make you the best Rush cover band I’ve ever heard. It’s amazing how true to the original sound you are.
Thanks for your comment and thoughts! On the tempo thing, like most studio recordings these days, Mat was actually playing to a click track (hence the headphones in the vid!). So the 11bpm speedup you are sensing must be the adrenaline of the song ramping up - the tempo is locked!
One thing to add to our previous comment that just occurred - in both the original and here, there IS an increase in BPM during the bridge only -- by about 6 or 7 BPM. That is probably what you picked up on. But after the bridge in both the original and ours, the bpm settles back in where it started. The bridge seriously drags without that bpm increase!
Wow, you're just so easy to listen too. I love that you make it sound so relaxed , when I know it's actually very polished and a great deal of hard work goes into the performance. I changed my avatar because we both had the starman exact image. But I hope you approve of my little cryptic message in the clock . ( which i set to that time and photographed ) no cgi and computer generated images here! Peace love and hugs to you all. ✌️❤️🤗
Love it Springy! Message transmitted, message received! And thanks for your insight - this song is so difficult to deliver the emotion and feel of live, and you are right that we've worked hard to get there. That's why we haven't put this one up yet - we had to "season" it a bit more.
I’ve been following Tim Stance with YYNOT since they first formed and Vic with After Image here in Florida. I’ve seen both of these RUSH tribute bands in Boca Raton @ The Funky Biscuit and I have to say you guys are up there with those tribute bands and I say this not only from a RUSH fan but also from a Bass player too. I play. Geddy Lee Jazz and will be looking to form a RUSH tribute local band here in central Florida soon. But if yall are very con in g here to Florida , please let me know.
This is a great tribute band. I have to say whoever did the recording you failed. You completely forgot about the bass player while recording, yes we seen him from the side but the Bass is a major part of rush and this guy kills it. I know Mat from TikTok and he is an awesome drummer and knows his shit and it was nice to see more of him as he has not been around TT in awhile. Just try and give equal time to all members in the band. Other than that, They are awesome
The filmer of the roving cam regretted that, but he had a super tall dude in front of him in Isamu's direction. We normally place cameras on both sides of the stage when we can, but this was a shorter show so we didn't think we would make vids from it. Isamu NAILED this though and he deserves all the props in the world! And Mat has been hidden in the back for so many of our vids, we did enjoy him getting extra attention on this. It is his favorite song to play, and he was amazing as always. Thanks Dave!
I agree with @daveallen8169@@MoodLiftersRushTribute And thanks for the explanation how it went down.. I would dearly love to see you play live! Your lead singer has a nice voice....but I'd like to see her stop walking around the stage so.much...... and just stand at the center mic stand and just belt out the vocals more.
SO GOOD to hear you singing Rush, Rocky! Really enjoy the Mood Lifters! Keep on Rockin'!

Yeah!!! You rock, Mood Lifters!!!
🥂
This is a great cover! The vocalist is not trying to imitate Geddy, but who could, but she makes the song her own, and includes all of the emotions.
This may be the best drummer i have seen in a tribute band... And thanks for playing Yamaha :)

I love the guy with the mohawk dancing in the background stage left by the exit door for a couple of seconds at 3:20
