there is a lot of confusion regarding Char Kway Teow/char kuey teow. Char Kway Teow is a Chinese noodle dish. In Hokkien, 'char' means stir-fried, and 'kway teow' refers to flat rice noodles. So it is stir-fried flat rice noodles. If you translate it into Malay language, it is kuetiaw goreng ('kuetiaw' is an official spelling for kway teow in Malay language). If you go to a Chinese restaurant or stall, Char Kway Teow will always be fried kway teow (without gravy) because it is what it is. Somehow, Malay people confuse the dish name, thus Char Kway Teow becomes Kway Teow with gravy while Kway Teow goreng is a fried kway teow.
TLDR;
Buying Char Kway Teow at chinese vendor = you get fried kway teow (kuetiaw goreng)
Buying Char Kway Teow at malay vendor = you get kway teow with gravy
Buying Kway Teow goreng at malay vendor = you get fried kway teow (kuetiaw goreng)

Taka San, if you can’t find the right size at the stores, you can have your baju Melayu costum made. My husband is a big Scottish guy and that’s how I get his baju Melayu. It’s not very expensive.

don't get confused, Char Kuey Tiew for Chinese is really Kuey Tiew Goreng, but Malay make it more gravy, (basah) I like Chinese Kuey Tiew Goreng/Char Kuey Tiew...but Malay Char Kuey Tiew also sedap.

Hi guys! 👋You have two options/choices for buying baju melayu.
- 1st is loose cut (more airy and comfortable, bigger and loosen) can get in many sizes : S, M, L, XL, xxxl or xxxxl too. This is very traditional baju melayu.
- 2nd choice is baju melayu Slim Fit. More modern and fashionable (like Sho San bought in the video).
Me: my husband prefer baju melayu loose cut 😊✌️

Taka try baju melayu johor style, it's a bigger style and worn slightly differently. With the sampin(skirt) worn under the top. So ask for johore style in the shop ok.

Btw Id like to see your opinions on tempe. Its fermented soy beans. In Japan I think you have natto, which is runny, but here we have tempe which becomes a solid block of fermented soy beans. Sometimes its fried plain with some salt, but I like it in Jawa cooking where they add so many extra things such as glass noodles, long beans, potatoes, and sambal. The dish you should look for is "Sambal goreng Jawa". Eaten with plain rice, its just heaven on earth

Sho-san kakkoii in baju melayu. Taka-san, my brother is about as big as you. it's quite hard to find baju for him too. but sometimes we found larger cutting baju melayu in Aeon. but there are specialized store for larger sizes too.

Sho just buy a slim fit cut, buy a regular cut its will fitr everybody.
Baju raya have two type
- baju melaju teluk belamha
- baju melayu cekak musang
Its come with pans
If you choose kurta its only cloth without pans.
