    Speaking of Battery trucks - here in the Kansas City area we got our first dose of Winter weather over the weekend. I haven't seen any of the Amazon EV vehicles on the road for three days now. I have seen Amazon drivers in rental vans though.

      I believe the rentals are for the increased holiday demand.
      My Tesla Model Y is definitely less efficient in cold weather. Then again, so is my 1 ton Duramax.

    Jason - Thank you for the tip on TH-cam sharing only selected segments - that is so useful as I can now target my 'shares' with specific topics to specific friends. I think you were the one to introduce me to TH-cam "chapters" on your video which allow me to skip over parts that I dont need to watch (for example -I already own a mattress!) Your segment on climate forecast means that I now know where to head for warm, dry weather this winter! • @anthonypelchat
      @anthonypelchat หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is there so that if YOU cannot build what is needed, then you can pay for someone who does. Basically those who produce more than the required amount can sell to those that produce less than the required amount. That allows it to average out between all manufacturers without causing some to not be able to sell vehicles at all. Otherwise there would only be a handful of manufacturers allowed to sell there.

    • @kenmcclow8963
      @kenmcclow8963 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Carbon credits are part carrot and part stick. If you produce more than 11% percent of your fleet as zero emissions, like Tesla with the Cybertruck and Semi, you accumulate credits which other manufacturers can buy at auction. The auction sets the price. For years Tesla made money selling credits primarily to Stellantis (Jeep, RAM) who chose not to build electric vehicles.
      Now the requirements are starting to affect commercial vehicles, where passenger vehicles have been in this market for over ten years and the public wasn’t aware of it for the most part

    Retail finance rates are not directly associated with Fed Rate - Fed Rate is the rate banks charge each other. Other factors like retail loan demand and repayment risk affect loans more than the Fed. When the demand for retail loans and borrower's repayment risk decline, look for the rate to lower. With so many people leveraged to the max (auto loans, credit cards, home loan, HELOCs, etc) and the cumulative inflation rate still over 20%, don't look for rates to drop significantly any time soon.

    When i worked in Oregon iwas towing for local and state police, i never saw so many RV fires before? Was it because so many are forced to live in a RV because of the cost of living? Or because the state wouldn't let some people get a Oregon driver's license? Yes its hand to get a DL in Oregon because the DMV says its 911 rules they require things some people can't get. I was making good money working in directly for the police but living kn a motel until i had saved enough to rent, k was required to get a Oregon DL after 30 days to continue working with that contract. Bur the DMV would not give me a DL , so i was fired!!! I had ot move to Washington i got my DL in WA tge Day i got there and found a Job a few days later. The point of this is Oregon ks probably at fault for all the RVs its not a friendly state for new people!! Its discrimination but they get away with it. This happened in Eugene. So not to day they only target lower income people i saw a DR in Astoria on my way to Washington she said she was having the same problem with the DMV so she went across the bridge oty Washington for her DL

And… there actually is a new line of Electric ⚡️ RV Trailers, videos are on TH-cam, that are intended for use by electric vehicles like the Rivian truck. In addition to their drive wheels lessening the load, the trailer can charge the car if needed. 🤓

    • @rvfishing8817
      @rvfishing8817 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are more than enough credits to go around at this point, so not a dream. When solid state batteries start reaching production and commoditization there will be 700 mile ranges for EVs with 15 minute charge times. Not a fantasy both Honda and Toyota plan on introducing solid state by the '27 model year. EVs actually need far less parts and maintenance, that is why delivery fleets in the cities are already adopting them, lower cost of ownership. See Jason's pic of the Amazon truck.

    • @SaltyDog69
      @SaltyDog69 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rvfishing8817 Then what do we do with the batteries after 7-8 years, plus the cost of the new battery pack is $20k or more? This makes it close to the same ownership cost as ICE vehicles. I’d love to go ev but the range and cost prohibitions are to high now.

    • @anthonypelchat
      @anthonypelchat หลายเดือนก่อน

      Batteries last longer than 7-8 years. That is just the bare minimum for the warranty. Many EVs have 10-12 year warranties on the batteries. And there is little reason to think the batteries cannot last longer.
      Range is also not a real issue for most EVs. 200-300 miles of range every single morning when you wake up. No need to stop for daily driving. Long range towing is an issue still, but getting better. 200 mile long range while towing 10,000lbs is possible today.
      Cost isn't an issue if you are planning a new car or cuv. The prices are right in line with all new vehicles. The used EV market is still high compared to ICE, but it is coming down. EV trucks are expensive still. New ICE trucks aren't exactly cheap though.

    Looking at the bigger picture, once the diesel RV ban really starts biting, there's going to be an across-the-board lack of demand for RV offerings. The campgrounds are going to start feeling lack of demand and RV owners are going to have to be educated to the realization that EV car owners are experiencing; i.e. the added purchase, insurance, service and repairs costs as well as the reduced transit distances (range not as expected compared to a diesel pusher).
    I'd also surmise that there's probably an enormous conundrum that will revolve around charging. I'd imagine there's probably a belief that you'd be able to recharge your RV at the end of your leg/trip but, from everything I've learned about Li-ion batteries, that's when the "cooking" happens. So, as you're recharging, I'd expect most RVers would anticipate they'd simply go into their RV to eat, watch TV, check their e-mail or even sleep and I really don't think that's safe. Let's be honest, the whole thing about an RV is that it's your "home on wheels" but I'd suggest that, in the case of an RV, that's not feasible as, if you're charging, where do you go while it's charging? Yet another "theory" that I'd suggest is hardly thought-through.

Hence the reason manufacturers have one shift productions or take weeks at a time pauses in making them. People aren't buying them. This isn't about manufacturers refusing to sell EV's. This is about the language of the bills forcing manufacturers to sell ever increasingly quantities of a vehicle people are not interested in buying and punishing those companies for a consumer disinterests.

      @@Nobody_important_at_all Think about this for a moment. As of right now, Tesla without any dealerships, outsells all other manufacturers combined in the US. The Cybertruck is the 3rd best selling EV in the US, outselling all other EV trucks combined and exceeding Tesla's sales goal for the year. And the best selling vehicle on the planet is an EV, the Model Y.
      Could it possibly be that the dealerships themselves are the issue and not that buyers don't want an EV? Or possibly manufacturers are not trying to sell EVs? Otherwise, it would that people just really, really like Tesla and no one else.

As of right now, an ICE Toyota is the number 1 selling vehicle in the world. In the U.S. The top 3 selling vehicles are 2 ICE trucks and an ICE SUV. So, in its own market, tesla's not even top 3.

      I have both an EV and a diesel. In a sense, they’re tools and they both serve their purpose. I never liked doing short trips around town with my Duramax. The Tesla is great for that.
      What I don’t miss is spending over a $100 to fill up the tank on the truck. It’s been nice having lower prices on diesel. I suspect fuel prices will be going back up soon.

    • @anthonypelchat
      @anthonypelchat หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      EVs do not take 1500-2000 cars worth of pollution to build. Where in the world did you hear that bs? At absolute worse it is twice as bad as a similar ICE vehicle to build, and typically far closer to the same. The pollution from production is completely offset in the first year of driving if powered by 100% renewable energy or nuclear, and typically within 3-5 years with the US national power grid averages.
      As for end of life of the battery, that is after well over a decade of driving. Several EVs are well over 300,000 miles now on the original batteries. And then after the life of the vehicle is over, the battery can and frequently is still used for other applications. Finally, when the battery actually does reach the end of its life, there are battery recycling centers popping up everywhere. Lead Acid batteries are already over 95% recycled and lithium is getting up there as well.

    • @anthonypelchat
      @anthonypelchat หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Denis-tu1pd First, all that pollution IS COUNTED in during the production emissions of the vehicles. It isn't that much higher than a purely ICE vehicle. Second, those emissions are outweighed during normal travel. Depending on your power source, you could have reduced pollution in an EV compared to an ICE in just a few months of driving. On average though, it takes 3-5 years to average out.
      Finally, those mining locations are getting better as well. Electric mining equipment has been in use for years. And the power can come from any source. Natural Gas powered electric vehicles and mining equipment is still cleaner than ICE only.
      Take a look at hybrid trains. They run on batteries and electric motors, but get their power directly from diesel generators. And even still, they are stronger, faster, and use less diesel than their diesel only counterparts.

    Without going into the whole for/against argument about credits, Tesla now sales more CyberTrucks (which are a truck as much as the F150 is) than F150 lightings. In fact, they’re selling more CyberTrucks than all other EV pickups COMBINED. Additionally, in 2025 Tesla will ramp up the Semi manufacturing with the goal to reach 50,000/year by 2027 or 2028…. So more than enough credits are available - not saying it’s fair or not… it is available.

      Look at it the other way. We want to buy an EV, but the manufacturer refuses to build one. They bring up excuse after excuse, but end up refusing. So we have no choice on an EV. So this is to make the manufacturers build some.
      Likewise, the credits allow manufacturers who are simply unable to build an EV to buy credits to continue selling vehicles.
