- Caleb moved to New York City while traveling the country living the van life in a 1995 Isuzu Japanese outback mini RV. To avoid paying high rent cost, he came over the plan to rent one single parking spot for a very low cost on a month to month faces where he could live out of Isuzu and work full-time in the city. This camper RV was imported to the United States and adapted to travel the country full-time.

The best winning feature here is how much Caleb likes this van 👏 !!!
Congratulations.
Yes, it shows
He is pretending to like it.
Congestion fees of 30$ a day....shits..
Once upon a time the american dream was to start your own business, go to college, buy a home, have a family... now it's to live in a van down by the river and avoid being crushed to death (literally or figuratively) by our oligarch masters.
Yeah I've given up on trying to save for a home its just constantly moving out of reach. Now Im looking into converting a vehicle for mobile living or getting a trailer, maybe some land in the future though unlikely.
Exactly. We have gone from being optimistic Capitalistists to being opportunistic Socialists by way of takeover, where historically, Socialism has been the means to enact Communism upon economic collapse.
Why wouldn’t you just put 16 inch tires on the back??????
@@TotallyAGoblin I really do love your rig. It's lovely, and I hope you have a million awesome adventures with it.
😄
I don't know why, but I always love these smaller vans. Great video!
Glad you like them!
I love those smaller vans too. This one was especially great since it has a full bathroom!
Yes! Me tooooo!
Young man stop being embarrassed that it’s “not clean”! Number one, is it safe? Number two does work for YOU?? It works just fine 👋🏼🇨🇦
Appreciate the support
He's an engineer. That's in his DNA.
@@robertklein3450 lol, first thing I thought.
Anyone who has one of these, It's the Isuzu Elf in the USA, which is a cab over box truck, so you can buy wheels, parts easy, you just have to go to a truck repair shop.
Those are not available in the US either? I don’t think you’re going to find that sort of specialty work so easily.
@ I live down the street from an Isuzu truck service shop, i see the (elf) N-Series trucks pretty much daily, if you drive route 80 between Cleveland and NYC i know of at least 6 service locations. Many Industrial GM shops also sell the parts as the ELF/N Series is also the chevrolet LCF or if you find the Japanese Truck service center for Hino you can use the S-series. All of those names are the ELF as a rebranded US chassis.
I love the layout it's perfect and compact. Those vintage RV bathrooms know how to do it right. It's got the mirror, sink, window AND vent fan. Perfect
I'm glad he's so happy about his home. Beautiful thing.
Man this is a dream camper! Awesome home is all i can say. Travel, work, bachelor pad, straight up nice way to go.
I’m obsessed with this mini RV! Omg! So cozy and has more than everything you need! My favorite!
That mini RV looks so comfy🌻Caleb seems like a such a great guy. Two people could live in there full time quite comfortably IMO.
We agree!
We have one of these but the camroad カムロードversion & love it. We are a family of 5 & its plenty of space. It’s funny Patrick calls it a mini because there’s even a smaller version, 4m. Love fr 🇯🇵
That’s great 😃
5:52 “This is where I keep my hose” I got a little chuckle there 😂. Super clean, and nice camper. Loved the video
Ha
I love this little camper!!❤❤❤
SWEET :) especially for one who knows stuff (unlike myself). Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like it!
Again!.....1995.....very lovable rig❤
Best
This is awesome! Not the prettiest but it works for him and has everything he needs. Spot on!
What a fun little rig.
Yeah
Nice little van and updates.
Thanks 👍
These are very cool mini RV's , there are lots of them here in Australia , very popular because they are imported easily. Many options available, 4x4 /2x4 , turbo/non turbo , with or without toilet/shower combo, even bunk bed versions. The turbo diesel versions and/or 4x4 are the ones to buy although quite a bit more expensive, but if you don't mind holding up traffic then the non-turbo versions are great value. I hope you have the best times with your ownership of it 😊😊🙏🙏
Notice it’s called “Out-back Express” 😉
Yep they are awesome vans, I have one here in Australia too. Mechanically mine was ok when i bought it as a turbo'd 4x4, but I had to gut it and rebuild it because the floor was badly water damaged and the frame that supports the fibreglass body that sits on top of the chassis was badly rusted. Anyway, it was blessing in disguise because the rebuild meant rebuilding it just how I wanted....better used of space including storage for 2 kayaks (you wouldn't even know they were there!), insulation everywhere i could fit it, removal of a redundant Japanese heating system that could never be made Australian compliant which freed up more space. Its got everything you need to live comfortably and that can parked in the same size space as a car!!! And unbelievable tight turning circle!! And surprisingly capable offroad.
I really like them 😊 I've a fiat Ducato van currently but if I could find one that's in good condition and good price I might just have to make the change 😄 @@GrahamMcLachlan
I’d get rid of the window unit and install a mini split 🙌🏼 does heating / cooling and is a lot more efficient! Small little head unit on the inside , mount the small condenser on the back!
Clever young man. The tire solution is genial 😊
It was the only way
The van looks awesome. You are a lovely and beautiful person man. Watching this video makes me think of living in a van for some years in future now. All the Best. May god bless you👍🏼✨
Thank you! Glad you are inspired.
He is 100% like every engineer I’ve ever dealt with 😂
3D created tire parts?! Wow!👏
Thanks for noticing!
3D printed a jig for the lug bolts. Because cardboard and a sharpie would be too hard for an engineer.
@@nwpia Correction: it would be too imprecise for an engineer.
The engineer who put 16 inch tires on the front and 17 inch on the back , needed perfect precision? Hmm ok
I can see he's so happy with his set up! I wish him every happiness!!
I saw this camper on youtube a few years ago, ita rare as far as i know. I absolutely love it. Id spend the rest of my days in florida keys, fishing and drinking coronas like a bum lol.
Thanks Patrick
Nice Build..👍
You're welcome!
I love this Mini RV. Also this guy is a cutie! You can tell he is proud of it and put thought into it.
So cool and the guy seemed very nice 😊
I agree
"I ended up actually fabricating my own wheels"! 😲 Good on you!!
It must take some getting used to driving here while sitting on the right side of the vehicle. Just a word of advice, that curtain behind the stovetop looks dangerous! That is a fire waiting to happen, try replacing that.
Nice rig, very cozy and homey. With the overcab bed, it really is a small class C. Such a perfect size for one! Thank you both for the tour
No problem with the curtain, he only uses the microwave
This is perfect. I can’t live full time but I surely would travel more. Great setup!
Nice video. Thank you for sharing. It’s a cool RV. Best wishes.
Nice rig. 👍
I’m with you
Hi there New Jersey Outdoor Adventures! You are a trip and love your tour shorts. Keep up get good work there Guy...
He’s got some super smart systems going on!
love the engineering work and it's a beautiful van!
I really appreciate you noticing the engineering work, it was a ton of fun!
Very nice!
I’m glad you like it!
good video. You look like Buster from Arrested Development.
Thanks, he gets that a lot!
Amazing vehicle, another kind of living freedom.
I thought this was Buster from Arrested Development 😅😂
Japan are so advanced with these compact RV’s… wish the states would catch on… and this model was from 1995… 30 years ago… can’t imagine what they have now…
Great camper van, I want one. 😁
I would love to find one of these older and possibly Japanese vans. I love how much they fit into such a small size.
Cool rig. Great job.
Thank you! It was a lot of fun to build.
I love these Japanese mini rv's, however, this one needs a womans touch, some nice curtains, pillows, area rug, some decor! Thanks Patrick
It’s definitely a work in progress.
lol, this is how men would live if they never had to live with women.
In philippines, this right handed trucks can be easily converted in to left hand drive
😂😂😂 love this. Definitely a full engineer brain. I'm surprised he doesn't replace the microwave with an all in 1 air fryer.
Sweet Rig! I’m pretty sure I saw this RV on I-10 yesterday.
No way!
@ I’m not 100% sure but, I haven’t seen too many like that. I spend plenty of time looking at the highway from the train… I should have become a different kind of Engineer… 😂
Is that Buster Bluth? IYKYK
Well God bless you brother !
I wish I knew about your type of RV when I got my loan from the bank . 👍
Nice choice Engineer,👍
Thanks 👍
Great van, seems like a nice person
Appreciate it!
Thanks for the Tour! I met Caleb and saw this at the block party, super nice guy. I was curious about what he pays for his parking space?
Any time!
I want to know the same thing. What are the specifics on his parking space? How did he find it and can he live there with no problems? Lucky!
one thing i kindof hate about the tiny house and vanlife movement is how it seems like 3/4 of these videos are people who simply got bored of having everything in life so they turned to minimalism. when i see a sprinter that costs more than a house, its kindof insulting because lets be real, the whole point of a van life is to save money, not to put house money down on a depreciating asset like a vehicle
Precisely this. I don’t know how I’m ever gonna save enough while I’m still paying rent, and these people are like so I sold my home… 😂
@@dvsnessa yea its such nonsense. its like how Rap was supposed to be about the harshness of life for certain people, but then it got coopted by vanilla ass people who have no struggles in life and it became about flexing wealth and other toxic shit. rich people must just be so bored that they have to coopt every grassroots movement that poor people come up with until we are priced out
When you turn you have to yell “PIVOT”! If you know ❤️
Sweet RV! I would like to see more of these around.
I think they are becoming more popular!
And you just know that a parking space is going to end up unaffordable as well....The money machine is just going to keep coming for every last cent, because why wouldnt they.
Never seen a cabover where the whole cab doesnt tilt forward for easy access, they did it that way because of the bed on top but I did a slide inside bed to solve that problem.
that curtain dangling directly onto the gas burner is hilarious but looks better than I expected inside.
Suggest that you market/patent/license that wheel conversion setup.
Please clarify why 2 different wheel sizes?
Do the front/rear have different bolt patterns?
Great
I like this car. Very compact!
To support the bench seat bed there is usually a long piece of wood on brackets that folds out from the bench seats. We have one imported from Japan to Aus 😊
Definitely a bachelor pad. 😊
Good eye!
Impressive.
He has everything most people could need.
☮
Japanese campervans are really good. The new ones are so clever
Jealous, love the size. Perfect.
What a cool funny and enthusiastic guy, love his rig! And I know DUCT tape rescues everything but as a engineer by trade he could do better on the extra ventilation 😂😂😂
Very nice Caleb
Killer Set up
I like it.😊
Thank you! 😊
Good video. Love you van. I'm no engineer, but looks like you did a good job. It's a shame Notth America is such a "closed market" when it comes to vehicles. Good luck to you young man...
Great tour and video, guys🙂very interesting.👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful RV
Wow you have blue sky there.
From the UK where above all the corruption and chaos we rarely see the sun.
I like this a lot better than most of the newer ones!
Love it! 👍😎
Thank you! Cheers!
Cool rig.
Love this guy and his RV
Engineer duct tapes AC grill on van's exterior. Further confirmation that engineers choose the quickest solution over good solutions...
That is called a roadside repair
Wrong conclusion. The correct conclusion to take away is that not all engineers are the same, and that there is a correlation between the ones who ducktape vents together, and the ones who can only afford to live in vans.
He has something that his... thats more than a lot of people. Stay happy my dude.
Would love to have this .
he 3D printed a jig??? wow, definitely an engineer using his skills. it reminds me of Howard in BBT when he & Raj got busy making stuff!
I've seen this guy before. He still lives in that. haha awesome
It's a perfect small motorhome. Ofcourse you could never find any American company making something so efficient.
There are many, they just aren’t corporate. Many small companies do it. My dad did this with a school bus.
It’s a damn shame that these Kei Campers aren’t sold new in the states. I know that I’d buy one in a heartbeat. If you can find one, you’re relegated to buying a twenty five year old model that’s been imported (there is a ridiculous law that doesn’t allow importation until it’s twenty five years old).
This thing is cool!
If an engineer can't afford the rent....
It’s a tough one
When I came to Sunset 40 years ago people were leaving due to crime so it was very different. I hope you are able to save for your future. Best wishes
He owned a house. Getting and living in a van was a choice. I’m sure if he wanted to return to the rat race, he can.
If an engineer can't afford the rent, neither can 80 percent of the population.
Judging by the work he did on this, he can't be a very good engineer
Very cool
You would think the air conditioning would be better engineered🤷🏿♂️
That was a very cool camper/home! Take care 🙂
Thank you!
This looks perfect! If you have never used your sewer hose, how to dump your grey water?
A vagabond on a kayak, I really survive on uninhabited and tropical islands Greetings from Indonesia from the channel Dima traveler👋🙂🏝 ...
Now, that sounds cool.
Very cool!
I love these tiny Japanese RVs
Coo! Liked
Nice,..I wonder if I could drive on the opposite side that most everybody else is driving, LOL
Ha!
Hardest part is turning on the wipers when you meant to hit turn signal! 😂
14:50 hell yeah! the xbox series s has become the go-to console for vanlifers and travelers it seems
I would like to know where you can rent a parking space they let you live in.
Bluster Bluth got his hand back!
Is no one gonna talk about how “Buster’s” Xbox on the wall - the way he mounted the Xbox: covered up the fan for the air circulation to his Xbox! 💀
Awesome van man
Thanks 👍
Прикольный домик на колесах...
That truck will run forever. Pretty cool. I’ve seen a few on the road.
They’re very reliable!
