I've been paddling 5 years now, and I caught myself doing the same thing today while I was on the Dry Fork. That paddle lifted over your shoulders with no blades in the water while slightly leaning back must be instinctual or something, because I'll accidentally do the same thing without even realizing it, even though I know full well I should be all the way forward on the deck, and still paddling with a blade in the water until the feature is completely behind you.
@@tankmaster1018 love this comment. Paddling to me is a constant battle between natural human instincts and the counter intuitive actions needed for success. We learn from every experience - even more so if someone has recorded you doing it!

Yup. I've probably run that rapid some 30-40 times, at a variety of levels. Keep right and avoid the boily hole on the left is the best line. Paddling hard down the guts of it usually works too.
Long boats paddled slow. Always good for a giggle.

Seems overly harsh. I dont know the river, but from the clip it seems like a fine place to step up one's skills. Easy to think you have a roll in flatwater, then find out otherwise on your first class 3.
You are spot on - the freezing cold conditions added a further challenge to executing a combat roll too. It was a fun day!

Kayaking Looking Glass Falls which is illegal, but I suppose if you don't get caught it might be ok.... but the kayaker and his friends put it on video online so he might still get caught.
