AWESOME SAVE...AWESOME SAVE!!!! Textbook! If you used your wedged kayak as an anchor for yourself, then this is elevated to the level of WORLD CLASS BRILLIANT!! You had the presence of mind to read the situation and act swiftly...and you knew the clock was ticking on your friend's ability to hang on. Swimming that falls likely would have ended with a broken femur/hip, because it was not a clean drop. so you HAD TO MAKE THAT TOSS!! And the editing of the two experiences together gave full breadth to the narrative of the film. Best of its kind I've ever seen.
Well done! That's the kind of rescue that makes all the difference! It just goes to show that having the right equipment, training, experience and keeping your head cool at the same time can save someone's life!
Just replaced my old ragged throwrope with a new 70 footer NRS partly due to this video - hope I don't need to use it... This is the best rescue footage I've seen! Thanks.
not sure if you guys gives a shit but if you're stoned like me atm then you can watch all of the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last couple of weeks =)
Showing both perspectives was nice. You had one chance at that throw, he had one chance to make the grab...absolutely nuts. Glad you both made it out relatively safely!
That was pretty gnarly. Nice toss on the throw bag. As somebody who's been bagged multiple times myself, it's comforting to boat with friends that you 100% trust. Good job. I've made your vid the video of the day on GPA.
Awesome to find this clip quite by chance. Was great to put a visual to the story put so well by Bren on the last Wet and Dry podcast. If you havent listened to it, check it out! That was a legendary save - how the hell Dave managed that one... but it seems you're a legend!
I've never even done a class III but love watching stuff like this! Crazy footage and overall vid was put together with soundtrack and different angle edits perfectly.

I like the comment about "don't run a waterfall you wouldn't care to jump down or swim over..." Does that guy think that the kayak is just for style? Being in a kayak allows us to do things in places that would be dangerous otherwise. That's the point. Awesome save. Sick drop. Great footage.
+Matt Jackson Speaking as someone interested in kayaking and who's yet to set foot in a kayak, I think it's advice I'll be taking for a while yet :) But have fun doing lunatic stuff while I'm stuttering about on a millpond lake, sincerely :P
Ya but waterfalls a much more unpredictable since you can't see the wall of the cliff or any shallow rocks on the bottom. On top of all this you a fighting a very strong current, waterfall jumping can be very different from cliff jumping.
Fair play to everyone involved. We all swim sometimes, but we definitely don't always pull off such a good rescue. Great effort! Haha, "only run something if you'd be happy to swim it or jump over it", what a ridiculous idea.
This guy literally fucking owes you his life.... like holy shit. I got a rush from that, can't imagine how you felt. Like man props as fuck to you for keeping your shit together and pulling that off, that's some insane respect!
Something like this happened me once. I planted my paddle to my right to break into an eddy just before a big waterfall. The blade got wedged into a split in a submerged rock (I presume) and was ripped from my hands. I tried to keep hold but the flow was too strong. I obviously pivoted around the paddle as I tried to keep hold and ended up flowing backwards towards a massive drop, with no paddle. My buddy was on the bank eating sandwiches (not paddling that day) just there with his girlfriend. Mercifully, he had a throw bag at his feet. There was an instant of panicked eye contact followed by flying sandwiches, followed by a throw bag launch. He just pulled me off the lip of the falls. It could have been a very bad day otherwise.
Nice rescue. Good rougbag shot. Only one chance. It's a long fall with out the kayak (my english is not so good🙊) the most inportant is know who are you with in the river
Not sure why people are wondering about how they got the boat. I was in a similar position 10 years ago. We free climbed out of there in the dark leaving the boat. The next day we brought our abseiling kit and a body builder into the canyon, to get it. Problem was it was a write off.
+Random Brandon He walked. And his boat.. either went over the falls and disappeared, or he was able to secure it before swimming, or it went over the falls and someone got it for him. There's your possibilities.
+Joseph M If you notice at 3:31 in video there is a bridge upstreamso there is access to river left, come off cliff on belay tierope to boat have someone pull it up then you.
after the small one, drop the big one. there was an undercut where the green kayaker went, and he got sucked under it. the yellow kayaker was waiting in the flat water where he was to give info about the drop to the green kayaker.
Fricking "Music" NOISE. RUINS a great video.... why doe everyone have to have skull splitting "music" in all these video.... IT REALLY RUINS IT ALL...we are out in nature after all...not is some GANG BANGING GHETTO. DOWN WITH NOISE POLLUTION
Lack of experience, this team should not be running waterfalls or atleast the guy who pulled. If you can’t roll up in whitewater you shouldn’t be running a waterfall especially a 60’
First off. Nice save dude. Shit happens and it's always comforting knowing your boys have your back. I have a couple of homies save my bacon more than once throughout the years. #pushdemshit. Second off. Macklemore is the best white rapper since the Beastie Boys. Keep on KeepN boys!

Its not like they have any other choice XD
That's what it's all about - yeah BOI!!!!
Joe Booth well she was gonna go swimming down that that’s not good

The guy (Bren Orton) saved in the video died a few weeks ago on a river in switzerland.
One of the most beloved kayakers in the scene
I wonder how he got out of this situation, because it seems like both sides were vertical

Thank you for saving bren! This time and all the others we didn't see.
That goof-music is just wrong for this.
No, it's the background music. It's a movie. Staged.
Yeah reminds me of baby shark doo doo doo doooo music lol

Epic song. Awesome for the clip.
Just curious. What would you have chosen?
Showing both perspectives was nice. You had one chance at that throw, he had one chance to make the grab...absolutely nuts. Glad you both made it out relatively safely!
You can fake a lot of things, whitewater kayaking is not one of them
I thought people were probably exaggerating about the song... nope it's definitely awful.

That was just so well executed that rescue ! Excellent job. Assessed the situation made sure he was safe and secure before attempting rescue!

Awesome video and wicked rescue. That dude owes you one! Nice work
How did he end up getting out of that gorge?
I guess we will never know
Well that song kept playing and finally the kayaker couldn’t take it anymore and let himself go

Probably climbed up somehow and found the trail, and they used whistles to blow to find each other

Paul Bottomley can't blame ya man....it's a progression!
As a cliff diver, that waterfall wasnt that big... 60ft is about the average size cliff to dive, the largest being 120ft

Yep, but honestly...how often do we get decent music in kayak videos.

OMG, yes! Kayakers have terrible taste in music. Why is this a thing? It's definitely a thing.

Entertainment at others' expense. The very essence of comedy. Must have been a fun climb out of there for Orton.
Wow!!! Nice editing!!! thanks for this piece. Yeah..."Now I'm going to drop over this 60 footer!" so good.
I could hardly finish due to music'..if u can call it that
theres a magical thing called mute
Man, wouldn't want to swim that! Great save dude!
Good save! Your the hero man!
This video has it all. Swim queen action, superman saves the day and then the hot boater runs the next waterfall. Reminds me of the big swim of 89.

Whoop! That'll make you feel alive! Nice FN save. Nice throw too😎
Whats the name of the fall? Looks like a sick spot
Just wondering, how the resuced guy now can come to his green boat again ?
Thanks for saving the short ginger bloke, he's one of my favorite kayaker's. I have to agree about the music, what were you thinking?
Not sure why people are wondering about how they got the boat. I was in a similar position 10 years ago. We free climbed out of there in the dark leaving the boat. The next day we brought our abseiling kit and a body builder into the canyon, to get it. Problem was it was a write off.
Good rescue. What happened to Bren after? Was he able to hike out of that area?
Is that Bren?
Nice. (But: the music is, as ALWAYS in these kinds of vids superfluous).
Wow that guy is strong!
It gave me the beautiful goosebumps equipment that god illuminates them forever for that courage of friends
Some recorded audio of what you were doing and why would have way more useful than that song...
Ok and how did you guys get out there?
lmao this is macklemore? Why does he suddenly "rap" with a british accent?
Did the 2nd paddler not have a good line to hit the 50 footer?
No, he didn't paddle hard enough and got pushed up against the far side, he landed too far left.
Nice rescue
How did you get the swimmer back into his boat or down the other waterfall. Basically how did he get away from the falls????

WOW! what a hero
how did they get the green kayak unstuck to eventually get the kayaker down the waterfall?
Ok so what exactly is was the plan there??? get down the small waterfall and then what? there is nowehere to go.

Excellent tune and video (cowboy listen to the Lirics).
Also savage rescue and great throw :)
Its a silly song.... they're making light of a serious situation.... because thats what people do..... get over it lol

What country are you kayaking in
What was their plan in the first place? To drop the second fall as well?

why the music????
What song and artist is the music in this video?
I'd def want that guy on my team !
what a shot with the rope bag
The dude's gotta swim back across and get his kayak. :)
No way he said “you have one chance for this”
